Dalene Flooring Carpet One

These guys were great from start to finish. I actually had them come consult before they did any work. I purchased a house with a mix of hardwood and composite, and I wanted to have the hardwood match the composite. The hardwood was in terrible shape and a much lighter color than the composite. Dalenes came out and showed me a few samples of stain on the hardwood and they matched it PERFECTLY. My hardwood looks brand new, my entire house flows with the same color flooring, and they left ZERO mess. After the final coat, I couldn’t tell anyone had even been there. Also, I shopped this around to a few different flooring companies. Dalene wasn’t the cheapest, but they were close, and their reputation precedes them. I talked to a lot of people before making this decision, and almost everyone had used Dalenes and recommended them without hesitation. I plan on calling them again to put new carpet in my basement.

Dalene is one of the larger flooring places in the area, but overall I was very unimpressed with them. I used them to tile a bathroom. Some of my complaints —
1) Scheduling was a nightmare. They didn’t show up when get said they would. The overall project took longer than they said. Very unprofessional and not what I would expect from a larger company.
2) Although the overall install looks good, the attention to details was not great. For example, the tiles were not cut close to fixtures and the toilet drain. Not a huge deal since these are covered, but it does show some sloppiness and shortcuts were taken. My plumber was surprised by some of these (he said they’re usually a lot more tight and «clean»).
3) The installer was fairly messy. I had to repeatedly ask them to use drop cloths on my carpet. When they washed the buckets of grout out, they poured the water in my mulched flower beds (which still has hardened grout in them!).
4) One other item was I really surprised by was the fact they used a latex caulk in the shower. I didn’t realize this until they were finished and gone, but everything I read says that only silicone should be used in a shower. I already notice cracks in the caulk they installed. This will have to be completely redone in the near future. Another short cut they did!
Overall I expected a lot more from Dalene. I will not use them in the future and would not recommend them to others.
