Max Burger is good, not great. Based on its location, you have to expect prices to be on the higher side and the food was good, but I expected more based on the price point. Our server was pleasant and the food came out in a timely fashion. I enjoyed the truffle fries and the regular burger.

Very good! Sweet potato fries and the pickle wrapped pastrami bites were superb. The burgers are very good too.

As with all the dining options in the Max Group, Max Burger is consistently good, always busy and servers are all attentive and efficient . We stopped for an early lunch on a recent Friday and enjoyed great sandwiches with side salads and I personally opted for a delish Lemon Drop martini! Service was prompt and our meal delivery nicely paced. my husband had the special of the day, a steak sandwich/philly style but on ciabatta which our waitress admitted wasn’t her cup of tea. For an extra $ 1 you can add one of the special sides or salads; well worth it if you prefer to skip the fries. I had the bacon cheeseburger with a delicious baconaise condiment which complimented the burger nicely and a side max green salad. My burger was cooked perfectly and also served on a ciabatta roll. We live in a town with two Maxes, both of which are great options but personally I feel the Max Burger is a little overpriced in comparison. It wouldn’t deter me from going again but I think the lunch options at Max Amore are priced more appropriately.

I may have went into this place expecting too much. But for the prices expected for a place in this location. I also expected better results with the food. Service was decent but a bit less than expected. took forever for waitress to come over after we were sat and forever to get my first drink. After that i ordered my other drink halfway through my first drink to get it on time and it went pretty smoothly so not really knocking them for that one, I’m not perfect either so I let things like that slide. But just overall experience… maybe it was a bunch of little things that just made the whole experience sub-par. Got the blackjack burger ingredients with kobe beef instead which… ughhh. it should have been great for a place like this right? It wasnt bad… but like I said I was just expecting more. Maybe I made a bad pairing. There are other burger and topping combos on the menu that look worth going back and trying and giving another chance. Also, it was hot as hell in there. To the point where it was uncomfortable and I’m extremely lenient before I mention things that are a bit negative about a place, but it was so noticeable. Dont get me wrong it wasnt all bad and I feel some of the things I encountered were probably one-time occurrences. The pulled pork spring roll app we ordered was delicious and so was the sauce that went with it. It is also nice looking inside. Its not like I wouldnt go back I just think theres other options I might pick if I’m debating which place to go to.

Came for a late lunch with friend around 2PM on a Saturday and got what looked to be one of the last available tables! All the burgers sounded great so it was tough to decide — landed on the Fun Guy which did not disappoint. I’m always happy when a place actually cooks my burger how I ask(medium rare) so that was also a plus. Nice beer list including many local brews which is a nice touch. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Wish I lived closer, I’ll definitely be back when in the area again!

My first visit was about three years ago, for an «American Wagyu» burger that left me generally impressed. The second was today, for their roast chicken entrée. Yeah, I was«that guy», ordering chicken at a burger place — but I simply wasn’t in the mood for a burger, and I was with a large group, so what ya gonna do? As I see it, one good measure of any restaurant, especially a place with a premium label, is how well they do dishes other than their specialty. The Max Restaurant Group runs a variety of upscale establishments throughout Connecticut, and the basic expectations of any place with their name are high price and high quality. This dish — «lemon and herb cured, roasted potatoes, Brussels sprouts, pan jus» — was atrocious. The meat was tender enough, and the skin nicely crispy, but the sauce was completely dominated by salt, the kind of thing you’d expect from Red Lobster or Olive Garden. It soaked through and overwhelmed everything on the plate, and I would have sent it back if I hadn’t thought I’d look like a jerk in front of my coworkers and the vendor fellow picking up the tab. I feel like a place that takes its reputation seriously wouldn’t phone it in for any dish, no matter how much of a fringe item it might be. I was extremely disappointed with what I was served, and if I were to rate them on that alone, they would get two stars, but the burger from the past was good, my companions’ burgers were undoubtedly also good, and the service was wonderful. They just have some serious work to do in the way of backing up their prestige with consistency.

The Miss Daisy is excellent! A good portion of warmly melted brie on top of a perfectly cooked burger is a slice of heaven! The appetizers are great too — we had the spinach artichoke dip which is one of the few locally that doesn’t taste or look like it came out of the frozen aisle at Costco! As it is a popular local place and they don’t take reservations, you may have to wait for a table, but the bar high tops are first come first serve!

I’ve been back several times since my last review and I’ve always had delicious, perfectly cooked burgers since then. So I’m upgrading my rating and maybe that first time was a fluke!

Best turkey burger I’ve ever had. Will make a point to come back here for that very reason. It’s usually a good sign if there’s a wait at a restaurant, so don’t let that deter you from eating here!

Easily a four-star and possibly a five-star burger place. Mediocre service bumped it down a notch. Came here on a weeknight over the holiday vacation and it was hoppin, which makes sense given that a lot of people are home/take time off/have time off from school over the holidays. The 40-minute wait was fine because there is a shopping area nearby to walk to and explore. When we were seated, it took more than 5 minutes to get a glass of water, and then took possible another 5 – 7 minutes to get a drink order. You should rarely have to tell your server your drink order AND your food order in the same breath, but, we were so concerned that it would be another 5 – 10 minutes before we got our food orders that we had to pin our server down. The food did arrrive, and it was wonderful. I got a burger, forget which kind, but they are all good here. I drained my IPA, and, you guessed it, had to wait an inordinately long amount of time to be asked for another pour. It’s busy. I get that. But there is a finesse and a talent to doing your job and making people feel that they are being attended upon in a requisite manner to the job. In the very least, our server could have acknowledged the business and apologized or given us a wave or a nod or a «Hey I’ll be with you shortly.» None of that. I bet on any given night, with any given server, you’ll get different service. However, on my one night and with my one server, the service was quite lacking. Go for the food!

Met a friend here for dinner and we ate at tables surrounding the bar. Lots of really mouth watering choices but I settled on the bacon and onion smash burger. It was a delicious mess. The burger was juicy and flavorful. And all the flavor with the bacon, cheese and onion worked in concert. My bread fell apart but I didn’t care. I kept on eating. Fun atmosphere, too. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in the area.

I don’t have much to say about Max Burger that hasn’t been said before: the apps, drinks, and burgers were good. Interestingly enough, no one at our table liked the french fries, so we ordered a side of eggplant fries, and those were a hit! The Southern-style, battered chicken wings were also popular: flavorful and much«meatier» than most chicken wings! I can’t remember exactly what they were called, and unfortunately they’re not on the regular menu. This is, however, the kind of restaurant that my boyfriend and I only frequent when we go out with friends/coworkers. The menu doesn’t necessarily stand out from the competition in the«special/fancy» burger arena. And honestly, when we’re craving a burger, we don’t head to Max Burger or Plan B… we roll up our sleeves and get down and dirty with GoldBurgers in Newington hehe.

Max Burger is my favorite burger place in the Hartford area. If you plan on going on a Thursday-Sunday, it is always best to call ahead to put your name on a list so you don’t have to wait as long when you there. They do not take reservations, but have no problem accommodating your request to be put on the waitlist. If you are a bacon lover, then you have to try the candied bacon lollipops. Thick pieces of bacon with the crispy outside, with the fatty soft meat on the inside. So good! If bacon is not your thing, then they have the perfect veggie burger for you. The Grateful Veg is my favorite burger on the menu. Although it is not your traditional beef burger, it does not fall short of pleasing. The Fatty Melt is a little much, but it is delicious. It is a burger wedged between two grilled cheeses, more for someone who has a large appetite. I love the eggplant fries, but not a fan of the truffled spuds. There is a strange flavor and texture to the spuds, I am not sure what exactly it is that makes me not like them. Max Burger always has a great selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles/cans. You can’t go wrong with a burger and a beer.

The wait can be really long here at times, but it always seems worth it. I wish they had more burger options, as they don’t have that many and some of them are so crazy they don’t really count *cough* fatty melt that has two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun *cough*. But I digress… the burgers are good, so are the sides and drinks, and the staff was overly attentive. The wait list method is cool… they text you a link that let’s you see your position in line at any time, and then again when your table ia ready. I assume this means you could theoretically leave and come back, but I’d check with the staff to make sure they won’t take you off the list if you walk out…

Burgers are one of my favorite things in the world, and Max Burger is one of my favorite burger places in Connecticut. The quality of the food and the service never disappoints. The burgers are huge, and always cooked to perfection. It always meets or exceeds my expectations. I always spend so much time scouring the menu, but I always end up ordering my go-to: The Fun Guy. So good! They have other alternatives for the non-burger lovers, ranging from portabella burgers to chicken sandwiches to salads. But I will forever suggest the burger! The portion sizes are huge!(Yet I somehow am always able to finish my burger, without fail.) My other favorite thing about Max Burger is the shakes! Whether it be the regular shake or the adult shakes(spiked). All are delicious and add a nice touch to the meal. My only complaint about this place(womp) is the seating is rather cramped and cozy and the wait can be kind of long. However, they always manage to seat us in under the time promised wait time, so that’s a plus! Otherwise, Max Burger is pretty dang fantastic in my book.

Came here for an early dinner(4:30pm on a Saturday) so luckily we beat the rush. By the time we left around 6pm, there was a lot of groups waiting. The restaurant was picked by someone celebrating a birthday so I didn’t have a say in the matter. I was not in the mood for burgers so my comments on the menu reflects that. The main attraction is burgers obviously but I think they need to have more options for those that want to eat healthier. There are lots of different kinds of burgers with various fixings and hefty meat-filled sandwiches. But if you are not in the mood for that, then the menu is pretty limited. The salads didn’t sound appetizing or politically correct(add a ginger dressing and that makes it an «Asian salad»??) I ordered the salmon that was served wth quinoa and a mango salsa. The salmon was cooked medium to my liking but it didn’t have much flavor. The bed of quinoa salad that it sat on was very dry. The mango salsa was 4 cubes of mango and that’s it. Maybe if they added cranberries and more mango, it would have livened up the dish. Our server was very nice and on top of the water refills. The hostesses were also very pleasant. I’m sure it gets very busy but they should mind the cleanliness of the floors. When we sat down, there were fries and skewer sticks where our feet were. When I went to the restroom, I saw more skewer sticks along the floor. The first time I came here a few years ago and had the burger, it was just OK. I’m not sure why it’s so crowded when there seems to be several other restaurants in the area. Maybe because it’s the only burger focused placed in the area?

The parking lot was pretty small and reserved for staff and other businesses. We were able to find some street parking, which I didn’t realize was metered, but luckily my parents noticed. The hostesses were very friendly and they sat our party of six fairly quickly. I ordered the Inside Out burger. It was an 8 oz. burger stuffed with Gorgonzola and topped with applewood bacon and arugula. It also, comes with onions, but I passed on those. I was really looking forward to the Gorgonzola, but I felt myself searching for it with every bite. It seemed almost non existent in the burger and limited to a small section. This was pretty disappointing. The burger itself was cooked well and the bacon was pretty tasty, but the lack of Gorgonzola made me sad.

Always a great meal here. As any MAX establishment I’ve always enjoyed their service. Burgers and great beetle selection to choose from here. Today I had the 5oz Classic and it was delicious.
