They have the best pastrami and corned beef sandwiches! Can’t make up your mind on which to get? Then go for the combo of both on one sandwich!

Simple and good. I had the soup and sandwich combo. The soup was chicken and rice. It was tasty but nothing special. If this is an indication of their soups, then I recommend you stay with a deli sandwich only and skip the soup. I ordered the pastrami Reuben. Very well done! The pastrami and bread was nice and tender, and I love the cheese and what they call Russian sauce. If I lived in this area, I would come again for a deli sandwich.

Great family run breakfast nook that has remained steadfast since my 1st visit in ’79. I interned upstairs from B&S’s & made regular runs for coffee & sandwiches like a good little intern should have. Now 37 years later & numerous visits we’re happy to report — steady as they go even without B&S. The cozy nosh nook has since been updated, but still offers hometown feel & a simple, delicious fare. Be patient if a table or a space at the counter are hard to find. Also, patience is necessary while the grill is manned. Rest assured each dish is personally attempted to with great care. Thanks you guys for all your years of unwavering service!

Sorry to say but this place is awful. Great location but just dreadful. Had time in between two appointments in West Hartford and was really hoping to grab brunch somewhere. The restaurant I was originally going to go to apparently only has brunch on Sunday so I asked two ladies walking by for a suggestion. They mentioned several places first however we all discussed that we did not believe they were yet open and we all eventually landed on Sally and Bobs. First let me say that this place is tiny. I think there may be a total of 6 to 8 tables. Upon entering we looked around and saw that there was one table open. We stood in the corner for several minutes waiting for someone to clear the dishes. The woman who came over was friendly enough however barely cleaned the table; leaving it sticky with several bits of food and debris remaining. She advised that the kitchen was backed up and that there would be a wait on the food. Well that was putting it lightly. Again we didn’t mind the wait however it took them a full hour to cook 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and a side of home fries. I repeat there was max 8 tables of 4. In the meantime I was provided one of the worst cups of coffee I’ve ever had the misfortune of tasting. I had one sip, tried to doctor it up with even more sugar and cream, took a second sip and decided I would have to replace it with a coke. One hour in and our bacon egg and cheese sandwiches arrive. To our surprise the bacon is not even cooked. Ridiculous. They must have spent the time focused on cooking the potatoes which were beyond crispy(which I actually enjoy) and were flat out charred, I mean just burned with one of the worst tastes possible. Looking around there were several plates all with potatoes remaining. Also, if you want to use the bathroom you have to navigate through a table pathway, grab a key off the wall attached to a board, go out a side door into a hallway which looks like you’re in a doctors office, and meander through the hall until you find the bathroom. We ate half our sandwich minus the raw bacon decided we’d had enough paid our bill and went to leave. That’s when we were informed that the front door had been locked and that we would now need to go through yet again another strange side door. Seriously… locking the front door with a restaurant full of patrons? That seems like a fire hazard? Add in the fact that both my son and I have felt queasy ever since we left there this morning; I think it’s fair to say we will not be returning.

Sally and Bob, I’m not sure who you are, but your place makes me feel like I’m walking into Grandma’s kitchen for breakfast. Drawing an older crowd of regulars, I’m happy to say it felt somewhat like having breakfast at home for some odd reason. 3 friends and I all ordered the veggie omelets with our own spin on things — great choice. Simple, standard American breakfast with no twists or turns. Sweet staff members were great about giving us warm-ups on the coffee with a few whitty jokes about the cold weather, this was great! Hit the spot, nice service, reasonable price, cash and cards accepted, and it’s all within walking distance of blue back square, and West Hartford Center. Successful energy for the day acquired!

Gotta give it up for Sally & Bob’s. Based on a recommendation from a townie, I decided to take a shot at this little diner on North Main. Good choice. Upon entry, I was warmly greeted by a lady at the counter, took a seat and had a hot cup of joe within a minute or two. Food here is your typical tasty diner fare, and there was no disappointment in what was served to me. Ordering a serving of French Toast with a side of corned beef hash, my plate was served piping hot, with plenty of butter and syrup for the FT. A flavorful dish, the hash was served with onions(something of which I’m not a fan), but was fine nonetheless. A hearty breakfast was enjoyed, along with the morning paper, and I was on my way shortly. I got a good deal on my breakfast in a nice little shop. I’d absolutely return, and I recommend you try it out.

I used to drive past here all the time but never ventured inside. When i did, i was pleasantly surprised. Sally and Bobs is the definition of a «Local’s Only» kind of place. Its tucked into a small storefront location on the outskirts of West Hartford center. There are a few tables in front, a lunch counter and a few more tables in back. The menu has breakfast items, deli sandwiches, soup, and a few burgers. I come here for the deli. Sandwiches are made in front if me and they taste delicious. The cole slaw is also particularly good as is the matzaball soup. The staff is friendly as are the locals who are always ready to talk to whomever. Eater beware. Get here before 2:30 pm as they close at 3, but stop serving half an hour before. For the best little sandwich/breakfast nook in west hartford, you’ve gotta’ check this place out.
Peace~

Nice Mom & Pop kind of place. The pastrami on rye is a great choice. Breakfast is good as well. It’s a small place and minimally staffed, so I recommend this place for when you’re not in a rush.

A fun little gem in West Hartford. Clean, bright, friendly. Fresh food, nice staff. Totally nice place for weekday breakfast. Smaller portions and not as interesting as Blue Plate Kitchen, but also less expensive and less busy so no waits. Definitely on my regular cycle for breakfast.

I wanted to love this place but I was sorely disappointed. First, the service seriously lacked– other than taking our order and delivering the food we never saw or spoke to anyone. The coffee was burnt and served w spoiled creamers to which the waitress neither apologized nor looked to take off the bill, though at least she brought me a fresh, burnt cup. The challah french toast was half way decent though considering they charge you for Brown and serve sausage I could get at the store I was definitely not impressed. To top things off when I paid the bill, I was asked out loud in front of other customers what I was going to leave for a tip bc I used a card– tacky. We won’t visit again.

For a quick and good sandwich, check out Sally & Bob’s. A number of choices await you in this convenient(yet small) deli, located on the skirt of West Hartford Center. The sandwiches are simple, delicious, and made perfectly, with a dill pickle and small side of cole slaw, potato salad. or chips on the side. You can select from tuna melts, deli meats, or burgers. Sally and Bob’s offers breakfast foods as well, so an omelet is also an option. Drawbacks to this deli include the small facility and not so great service. There is only a handful of tables in the front part the restaurant and along the wall leading to the back, which are awkwardly placed opposite a short bar/stool line. Also, the server we had when visited was slow and inattentive(but pleasant). Though the food came out quickly, our server did not come back to the table once. We had to go ask to get something to wrap our extras in. Sally & Bob’s is a great place to grab a tasty sandwich, and is relatively conveniently located(though parking can be difficult unless you park in the back of the building). There are meters out front and is the main road leading to West Hartford Center. Just be aware it’s a small place and may not have over-the-top fantastic service.

Great family breakfast place in town. I live right down the street and walk there to get breakfast Saturday any weekend I am in town. The food is fantastic, and fresh; any time I have a craving for breakfast food this is my go to

Clean family restaurant, convenient location on North Main Street, free parking behind the building, metered parking in front. I had a garden salad with chicken salad on top, quite tasty. Friend had a turkey club with bacon, lots of meat. Large portion sizes, fast friendly service, we were greeted when we came in. I’ll go back.

I have been eyeing this place for awhile, and figured let me come in here. I’ll have to admit about somethings that I did not like. Nice to know that Ron and Rhonda are a couple, and that Rhonda is the daughter of SALLYANDBOB! They were nice people themselves, but I had a different waitress… I ordered the Corned Beef and Hash sandwich. The rye bread tasted stale, the corned beef wasn’t the most quality. Then I ordered a French Toast. It was cheap sliced bread. The waitress wasn’t too attentive to our table’s needs. There were 4 drinks on the table, and only 2 straws were placed on the table. She didn’t check to see how our meals were tasting. Last but not least, she was able to write up the bill, how much everything costs, but couldn’t add up the total? My friend told me they did this last time, and they ended up stopping my friend because my friend was short 0.53¢ cents?! I mean, I can do the addition, but you couldn’t do that? I dunno. They had me at… not returning back after the food. Perhaps I’ll give their other food a chance based on reviews from Unilocal elites.

This is a quaint mom n pop shop. If you did not realize it was there, you’d never notice it. It is next to the YMCA on North Main St. Predicable, for example the french toast is always the same. If you order french toast, you would do well to finish it as the servings are quite ample and this is not inexpensive white bread drizzled with batter. The bread the use is higher end and the batter is quite substantial. Service is good, the food is prepared rapidly and delivered piping hot.

There is definitely a certain amount of skill that comes along with creating plain, typical diner food that is still very tasty, and Sally & Bob’s has nailed it. I ordered a turkey club with potato salad and my boyfriend had a tuna club with coleslaw. Granted our selections were rather mundane, but they were flavorful for what they were. I actually enjoyed the tuna a bit more than the turkey because they paired cheese with the tuna rather than bacon, which proved to be delicious. The potato salad looked very basic, but had lots of flavor and was good. Overall, the food was above average for what it was. There definitely wasn’t a lot of innovation or unusual menu items, but for an affordable and satisfying lunch, it was a good meal. The interior is shaped a bit oddly, as the space is narrow, but it is cute and appeared very clean. Most of the tables were small, so it is probably best for parties of 4 or fewer. They did have a few patio tables out in the sidewalk which provided another seating option. Service was quick and efficient. Our waitress was quiet but the woman behind the counter engaged us in a brief chat. It was a good place to stop for a quick lunch. I may not go out of my way to go back, but it is worth a shot if you are in the neighborhood and want something with a low-key environment and comforting food.

Love, love this little place. My place for a greasy spoon! Just had breakfast here with Mr. T. We both had two eggs with your choice of sausage, ham, or bacon. I opted for ham and the mister got sausage. It came with toast and home fries. This was a big portion for $ 5.75. The people are so friendly that its feels that you are at home! Food comes out to you really quickly. Service comes with a smile :) This joint is popular for lunch during the weekdays as this place is located as a front of an office building right next to the Bank of America. I’ve had lunch here before for a tuna fish sandwich and it was delish! Their other specialty are big deli sandwiches. Their operations are open for breakfast and lunch during weekdays. On saturdays, just for breakfast so get in before 11:30.

I love Sally and Bob’s. They were the first place I’d ever had a Tuna Melt(then called a grilled cheese w/tuna, according to their menu). They have great sammiches and everything is cooked exactly as I’d want it. They did a remodel a few years ago and it looks much nicer than it did but I kind of dug the old school vibe it had before. Also, though it’s been a while since I’ve been there – it seemed like the new kitchen equipment(mostly the stove) wasn’t being used to it’s potential by the older gent who’s been cooking there for years. Sally and Bob ‘s could be THE breakfast place in W. Hartford but the cook is too slow. He can’t seem to multi task and do up a bunch of orders simultaneously. I still love it though. They make a scrambled egg and cheese sammich that I compare all others to.(the roll is so fresh with a couple of poppy seeds dotting it… I’m drooling just typing this)…
