I brought my mother’s Rav4 in to get it checked out because of some grinding in the highest gear. This was the 3rd place I had taken the car and to be honest, it was going to be my last ditch effort before taking on more drastic measures.
Long story short, it was the best decision I could have made. The gentlemen at Talcott Transmissions went above and beyond to spot and fix the issue. Not only did they identify the problem, which took some serious outside the box research and know-​how, they made every effort to remedy the issue the most economical way possible. Which anyone getting by in today’s economy should deeply appreciate.

From my initial phone call to my actual visit, Ken was extremely helpful. For a single girl in a new town, finding a mechanic you can trust is hard. Ken was informative, but not pushy. He explained the problems to me in a way I could understand and pointed out the problems that needed immediate attention. While he did say my car had a few different problems— He suggested starting off with smaller fixes– rather than jumping to the most expensive fix.
From my first experience, Ken made me feel confident in his work and his recommendations. I will definitely take my car back there for the work he suggested.
I can’t speak to the costs of service though, as Ken did not charge me for filling my transmission fluid or the service check «drive» through the neighborhood. For this reason alone, I would go back to Talcott Transmissions, LLC. :)
