This place is incredible! The food is so amazing and the price you can’t beat! We went it and was greeted by everyone & the service was great. While Nick was cooking our food he turned around to greet us as well! He cooked everything quick and had us in and out. This is our new go to place for breakfast!

Have been here a few times and everything we have tried is amazing. We have done breakfast all three times. Trying to find the day to come back for lunch. It’s your typical old school luncheonette. Counter bar stools behind the open grill. There is a small kitchen with a huge open window. 6 booths. Prices are great(cash only). Service is great. Food comes out quickly. Today I had the Mexican omelet(bacon cheddar jalapeño). Ask for home fries well done and they are well done, all sides. Not like everywhere else that darkens them on one side and almost raw everywhere else. Highly recommend. If you come when there is wait(which is probable on weekend mornings), stay. It goes quickly.

This is that classic«go to» local breakfast spot. I had the eggs over hash with home fries and toast. Everything was delicious. It is cash only, but I believe there is an ATM next door at the drug store. Parking is limited, but the food and experience make up for it. Coffee was tasty, and the French toast and chocolate chip pancakes looked delish. I will definitely be coming back! Everyone was so friendly!

Went for breakfast on the weekend. Very small place with no waiting area, had to wait outside in the cold for a while before we got a table. Inside was also very cold, we ate with out coats on and noticed most the patrons doing the same. Food was decent, breakfast potatoes better than expected. Very small walkway and booth for two, server bumped my arm multiple times walking by. Overall food was decent but the location leaves much to be desired. Likely will not be returning, esp in the winter.

We stopped here on a roadtrip and couldn’t have been happier. The waitress was super chatty and friendly, and the food was delish. We tried the hearty breakfast combo and it was great. The home fries are amazing! The portions are huge and the prices are dirt cheap. Go!

Always the best: plain, simple, small, but the food is great, the price is right, and the people are friendly. It’s always crowded, for a reason, but you hardly ever have to wait more than a couple of minutes.

If you like breakfast, this is a small cash only place to get a cheap meal. Long lines sometimes and small inside.

Imy boyfriend and I Unilocaled this place since we were around the area on vacation. Its a bit small but a perfect size for locals. Everyone seemed to know each other. Our server was so nice. I ordered a combination omelette which came with home fries and toast. It was delicious and my boyfriend ordered the grilled BBQ chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed it although my boyfriend wished the BBQ was stronger. We also ordered a short stack frech toast which came with two slices of Texas toast and a short stack of Reese’s pancake but our server then adviced us to just get one pancake bc we ordered a lot of food lol. Which thankfully she did bc we had trouble finishing lol. We over heard what seemed to be a regular be short a few bucks and not enough for tip and our waiter told him not to worry and she will see him tomorrow. Its things like that, that help businesses like this stay running. Great customer service! Our bill was only $ 24 we tipped our waitress $ 6 which was well deserved. Thank you!

Delicious, straight to the point breakfast. Haven’t tried their lunch. Price is right and the servings fill me up. It can get busy on the weekends, but totally worth the wait.

The best breakfast I’ve ever had. I’ve been here twice and both times is was phenomenal. Dear lord, the food is so good. Get Nicks Hearty Breakfast with home fries. It is the best decision.

Nick’s doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not, because it doesn’t need to. What you get if venture over to 1st Ave in West Haven is a killer breakfast, that’s served at a pace that seems impossible when you consider the size of the griddle and kitchen overall. Crispy bacon — check, fluffy pancakes — check, kid friendly — check, but be forewarned seating is limited and you’ll likely be waiting, even during«off-peak» hours. It’s a super friendly staff and while it’s full of regulars patrons, we felt right at home during our first visit. Definitely worth several return visits. And while some may turn their noses up at the thought of having to pay cash or saying things like, «it’s the 21st century, they should be forced to accept credit cards.» I say thank you for keeping the line a little shorter.

Great, home style, quality little gem here folks! Nick and his wife are so warm and inviting and they have done a fabulous job with this place! They have killer pancakes, oatmeal and breakfast classics. They also serve lunch with plenty to choose from and offer daily specials. Service is always prompt and super friendly. Only downside(which is why I can’t give 5 stars) is the space. It is very small with only a handful of tables, booths and a short counter. I don’t know why they haven’t moved to a larger location in all these years, but I guess they’re content with the lines waiting out the front door still?

Whenever I don’t feel like cooking breakfast, I go to this place. This is a small(but not too small) local diner that give that special feeling of homecooked breakfast. The staffs always friendly. I saw the owner cooks for us, it’s that personal. You wouldn’t find this environment in a chain diner/restaurant establishment…

Stopped here before leaving to NYC, had the pastrami on rye with french fries. Not too salty and very cheesy. Very homey and felt like a cozy diner. Prices are very affordable and fair. Would definitely come back.

There are definitely better, nicer breakfast places in the area, but this place is as solid as they come. It’s not fancy or upscale, and it’s really too small for more than two or three people per party. But the service is friendly, efficient, and the food is consistently good. I don’t know why, but their buttered toast is some of the best I’ve ever had. Bizarre, but worth noting. There’s usually a ton of people waiting, but they somehow keep it moving at a fast speed without making you feel rushed.

I love this place! My Dad is a regular and the place gives off that small town feeling with quality food and no short cuts. It’s a small place and gets you in and out. The service is friendly and efficient, my coffee was never empty no matter how busy it got. I ordered the corned beef and hash with my eggs over medium and it came with choice of toast and home fries. The corned beef hash was homemade and extra crispy just like I asked and the eggs were made over medium(not too easy). My rye toast was toasted perfectly and the home fries are made special and different but in a good way. Best quick and quality breakfast in town.
