Alta Dena Express

This place is right around the corner from my house and they sell some pretty good scratchers. I loved the fact that you could have just driven up and gotten some groceries or red bull or even milk. But it’s been a while now that they don’t do that. The owner is so nice and friendly. I’m always here for a good minute cause I don’t come all the time. And he always takes time to see how everything else and just talk about stuff.
They got everything you need when your in a rush. Never busy. Plenty of parking. And there open nice and early.

I lived near here from 1989 to 2007, and I stopped by here regularly until I moved to the other side of the country. It was fantastic. Drive up convenience, good location, but most of all, extremely friendly people. How friendly, well… I would often stop there, get out of my car and chat for a while on my way home for work. And after having moved away, I really, really miss that! So much so, that as I am back in L.A. this week, I made sure I stopped by to say hi. After seven years, I was greeted with a huge smile as though I had just been here yesterday. Just a great place with great people!

I’ve been coming here since I was 5! the service is so amazing… you drive thru and your groceries come to you. what more could you want? The people that work here are so pleasant and warm. This place has been around since the 50’s. Super historic and takes me back to my childhood of walking by here for milk and ice cream with my gran and jido. Love love love everything about this place!

How can people live without an Alta Dena drive through? How? HOW? I’ll tell you, it’s not easy.
I worship at this place’s feet. All the people who work here treat you like family and it’s loaded with goodies as well as important staples you might need but are too busy to go to the grocery store just to grab!

When’s the last time you sat in your car as you picked up a few essentials like milk and cheese on the way home from work? Yes folks, this is possible in this day and age at the Alta Dena Express Drive-​Thru Dairies.
Alta Dena Dairies have a long history in Southern California, with the first drive-​through opening in 1951. I think this particular location has been here for over 25 years at least, and probably longer. It’s actually a small convenience store, but when I come I usually tend to just pick up some dairy products.
Alta Dena chocolate milk has been my favorite ever since I was a little kid. Even then, my little taste buds could discern the difference between the thinner, overly-​milky chocolate milk of other brands and the thicker, more chocolatey flavor of Alta Dena. Apparently they feed their cows alfalfa hay, which makes their milk taste better. And what’s even better, I just found out all their dairy products are rBST-​free.
