Worst clubbing experience of my life. I have been clubbing in several different parts of the world and the United States and have never been treated so poorly. In fact I have been living in LA for 3 years now and am very familiar of the club scene in this city and how it works and what goes down at this establishment is unacceptable. My girlfriends and I were reserved at at a table tonight with the promoters Phillip and Conner. WE were given the impression that no matter what we were getting in. We stand outside and the jackass man who gets to decide who comes in the club and who doesn’t is not only rude but super aggressive. Finally my girlfriends and I are set to go in and our promoter(Conner) attempts to instruct him on who is in the group. The, shall we say imbecile, who gets to make the final decision lets in the majority of our group, excluding me and another girl. Okay, fine we decided to wait. Another 30 mins go by and he decides to let the other girl from my group go in and aggressively pushes me to the side and tells me that I am not under any circumstances getting in this evening. I just want to add that at 6:00pm this afternoon I was confirmed as part of a table and my name was on the list. Not only that, but I was appropriately dressed and wearing heels. Finally, another 20 mins go by and I am still stuck trying to explain that I have been accounted for and the remainder of my group was inside at our table and the imbecile making decisions refuses to let me in. I had to explain the situation to another promoter and have him contact his manager to let me in. Side Note: Do not attend this establishment if you have any self-worth or natural parts of your body left because the imbecile who makes the decisions only cares about how fake you are and how little clothing you can manage to wear in public. I have never in my life been made to feel so bad for not having a boob job and a ton of plastic surgery. I am sorry but if that is all that you want at your club then I never want to associate with the establishment again. Finally, the imbecile lets me in after having to explain my situation to another promoter. This promoter was named JR and we was wonderful and was appalled by the behavior of the promoters my friends booked with who did NOTHING to help me out. As soon as I get to security check, I am hard core questioned about my ID and made to feel like I am in an interrogation room. Normally, this would not bother me but after an hour and a half of watching him barely look at IDs and be the first to get questioned was a major put off for me. I do not like to give negative reviews, but I just had to state that I have never been so mistreated by the staff of an establishment or promoters ever. I have been to clubs in Paris, London, and Vegas to name a few and this by far has been the worst experience ever and it is sad to say that since I do live in this city and take an active part in its nightlife.

We just saw the FTR: John Hughes show here and it was a ton of fun. The performers were very talented and it was altogether enjoyable. That said, the price of drinks here for what you get are scandalous; piss-weak and fairly crappy tasting. Furthermore, we booked booth seats only to find that two other people had been packed into the booth with the four of us. It was pretty cramped. Not cool. Finally, the way the promoters rushed us out of the place was totally rude. We spent 60 bucks a head to see this show and they acted like we were loitering because one of us had to use the restroom before departing. So I’m torn. The show was great, but every single other element of this club sucks and doesn’t need to. I would never go here if it wasn’t for FTR. If you go, order beers for your 2 drink minimum. Their cocktails are terrible and terribly overpriced.

First time here last night for, «For the Record: Baz,» and boy did I have fun! I have never experienced a musical like this before, and it was really entertaining. Thanks for my friend, Shanon Y., for introducing this to me! They incorporated 4 movies into the show: Romeo & Juliet, The Great Gatsby, Strictly Ballroom, and Moulin Rouge. It’s very interesting because they mashed-up all four films into one show, and the story and songs flow together really well! What’s especially great is that you are so close up to the performers that you feel like you are part of the show(almost). On top of the close up views of the performers, they also serve alcoholic drinks, which makes the show that much more entertaining. I would definitely come back again, and it is also a perfect place to take a date, For the Record – pun intended!
Went on a Monday… Take you and your friends somewhere else. One of our friends couldn’t get in because she didn’t «look the part», saw many other gorgeous girls being turned away as well. Great exterior neon. Bad music. Bad vibes. Lame interior.

I used to recommend this place, the music was a good mix of it all, the people were a good mix. Not anymore :(the last two times have been soo disappointing, onto new bars. The promotors I’ve met are nice but the people I’ve encountered working at this place will try to make it a bad experience, especially the door people lol

This review is for last night’s performance, «For The Record: Baz» I love«love», especially tragic love! Musical show was inspired by four of Baz Luhrmann films(Strictly Ballroom, Romeo+Juliet, Moulin Rouge, & The Great Gatsby). The live performance by the talented cast was amazing! Ruby Lewis blew it away, her voice! I want to take my friends to watch this show! I had a great time, place is nice, host at the check in was friendly and our hostess was also great, you can hang out at the club after the performance. Check out the show!

I wish I could give this club a 0, because thats what they deserve. I went here for my friends birthday and was looking forward to a good time. At one point I decide to walk around and check it out since I have never been there. As i was wondering past the bar, by myself, minding my own business, some guy comes up to me and grabs my arm. I ask politely why he grabbed my arm and he told me to follow him. I figured maybe someone was trying to get my attention or something like that so I followed him over where he proceeded to push me out the door telling me to leave. Having absolutely no clue what had just happened, I turn to the other security guard and ask why I had been escorted out when I was literally just walking through the club by myself. He told me I was wasted and needed to leave. Considering I had only had a couple drinks, and was completely coherent, I asked what had led them to that conclusion. He couldn’t come up with anything and just proceeded to say“we were going to let you back in but not any more”. umm I’m sorry, what? That literally makes no sense. And also not to mention the fact there were actually people puking and having a hard time standing, and as I casually walk through, they decide to kick me out? Like what the hell. Each one of the security guards out front were complete assholes. Not to mention ugly as fuck. Obviously on a power trip or something and I am not about that. Since it was a shitty club anyways, I called up my friend who was extremely confused at the whole situation, and we left both agreeing we would never go back. Also, even if i had been wasted,(which i can guarantee I was not) real smart to throw an incoherent woman out on the street by herself. super classy act.

first time here, came to see«for the record: baz». host and hostess at check-in — great. friendly, efficient, eager. venue — nice enough looking and nightclub stylish. the show — FANTASTIC. a really talented group of artists all around tonight. dedicated and exuberant and energetic. the waitress — lovely and really smiling and graceful under the pressure of working a busy place like this. and being patient to explain to everyone the 2-item minimum you must have along with the show. the food — this is most definitely not the place to come eat and expect a gourmet experience, but i don’t think you should expect a terrible one either. but unfortunately that is what it tasted like. ordered a beer and the pizza. the pizza was large enough for several people to share but… no one wanted it! because it was some of the WORST pizza we had ever tasted. it is seriously like a child made it with play dough.(and yes. i mean the clay!) thick chewy floury tasteless. i rarely complain about food i mean you wouldn’t believe the things i put in my mouth! but really this was practically an affront. and to charge $ 14 for it? eating this pizza taste like you’re biting into 4 slices of dry almost stale pita bread with nothing on it but they tell you it’s a pizza. no sauce no flavor no nothing but everyone putting it back down and wiping their mouth. they need to take this pizza off the menu or seriously revamp it. everything about the show and club was nice but blech — what was this thing i just put in my mouth?! the pizza is actually bad enough to knock my 5 stars for the experience here, down to a 3. but that wouldn’t be fair to the performers. if you come for«for the record», you will enjoy the evening and show. just don’t come for the food.

This is the 2nd time I’ve been to this club. There is always a line, so I suggest getting there early, or else it’s good luck to you getting in. They don’t care to hold people in line forever. I really like the venue, although it’s somewhat small. It’s fun when there’s a stage and the girls are allowed to go on it. Sometimes, they have go-go dancers. The girls were alright looking but they were definitely curvy… can’t dance though. On certain nights, the club will have special performers and guest appearances. There were break dancers and then there was Miguel. The girls were going nuts. I didn’t really care, but watching the guys break dance made me want to learn lol All in all, every time I go to this club, it’s a good night after entry.

I’ve been here 3 times now to see FTR: BAZ. The show is AMAZING and I would see it over and over and over. The venue is a lot of fun, though you have not not mind an intimate, interactive setting(I don’t mind at all!). The one thing I do have a problem with is the overpriced menu and 2 item minimum. Also I’ve almost always had a problem with the servers. The first time I was there, the guy charged me for my second drink and then never brought it. He then tried to bring it to me after the show was over when we were trying to leave and I said no thanks, please refund my card. The second server I had was fine. Then the one when I was there last Friday brought us our check after we got our 2 drinks each. We were busy watching the show so didn’t sign the check right away and the server came up to us about 5 times asking if we had signed the check(ummmm no, we’re trying to watch a show). Anyways, other than the issues with the servers and the drink minimums(which you aren’t made aware of before you get to the show), I do love the place and I will return to see more shows!

WORSTEXPERIENCEEVER. 1.Wayyyyyyyy overpriced. 2. My friend got shoved by someone with bottle service and we got kicked out because the bottle was knocked over. 3.They made us put our camera away and not take any pictures. 4.NODANCEFLOOR. 5.WEIRDNAKEDWOMENEVERYWHERE Just a small shitty place I never plan to return to. We were on a guest list which did nothing. Honestly this is just a hipster club dedicated to lady gaga.

Horrible music and Horrible crowd. This was supposed to be high end club but really it is not. Just because they have some semi-nude«dancers» on the pedestals it does not make you a great club. I rather got to Pour Vous.

I have been to DBA five times now to see the For The Record shows(Baz and Tarantino). Every time the service is impeccable, the drinks are great and the entertainment is top notch. I love the set up and the vibe of the place and it makes a perfect cabaret-style theatre. I also love that they serve Clover juices in addition to their full bar for those nights when you’re looking to skip the alcohol and be a little healthier. I already have tickets for my next two shows there. :-)

Not a bad place. I like how it’s more of a lounge rather than a full blown club. The staff all seemed friendly and not the usual club-type stuck-up d bags. I don’t know if it was just Saturday nights but it was strictly hip hop being played which brought out the white kids trying to be thuggish(one guy was wearing one of those work out drawstring backpack type things. Really?). I also don’t think there is a dress code since there were some folks dressed in questionable attire(for going out). Smelled a bit of the devil’s lettuce a few times throughout the night. We had a fun time though and I liked it even though the drinks were way overpriced for the type of place it is(I think it was $ 16/cocktail).

Great venue, small and intimate space. Saw the BAZ show and it was amazing how smooth four films were adapted to share one story. Music transitions were well timed, and every single actor had crisp, on tone vocals and really conveyed the indvidiaul characters they were playing. At times the wardrobe, character and personality changes were so quickly I couldn’t keep up! I can’t wait to come back here. Left here on a buzz from how great every component of the show was(even the lighting and service) and still buzzing to come back. Bummed I missed the Tarantino show but now I have something to look forward to, if it returns.

DBA is a fun place to go but the it’s surprising not going to a club with no dance floor. The venue is a bit on the smaller side and filled with tables where the promoters are hosting. Our promoter was super nice and had everyone meet at the French Marketplace next door and quickly walked us in. There was always vodka and juice throughout the night. Most of the music was hip hop or top 40. I went on a Friday so I don’t know if that made a difference. DBA is known for it’s creative models they were doing burlesque-like shows throughout the night. Technically, you can’t take pictures inside the club but no one seemed to be following/enforcing that.

This review is FORTHERECORD. What a marvelous production, a well done tribute to Tarantino. It was full of life and entertaining. The whole cast was exceptionally talented and passionate and told their stories with precision. This makes for a fun evening with friends, family, a date or just going solo. Quality service, our cocktail waitress was World class. The cocktails were on point. I love the bathrooms here, I know it’s a little weird but they were just so unexpectedly well designed, huge and perfectly maintained despite how busy it was. I wasn’t responsible for booking the table, but it seemed like everyone was seated either at a booth, table or theatre seats close closer to the stage. There was a two drink minimum, but I don’t know if that was because we were seated at a booth. The only people standing were by the entrance and exit. Tips: metered parking is available but it has a two hour limit until ten pm. There are parking garages nearby, you just have to keep an eye out. The Surely Host is near by which makes for a good place to grab drinks before or after the show.

Came to see For the Record: Tarantino If you’ve been to past venues you’d expect a dinner and theatre set up. Not so with this venue. The cocktails are still there, but no more food. Just snacks, popcorn and nuts or something like that. The servers were ok, service was lagging a bit, but nothing too serious. I was there for the show, not the booze. HOWEVER, if you are a drinker… they have this yummy champagne concoction that I could not get enough of. The venue is great for the show. The performers use the whole area, it’s really not necessary to upgrade to the VIP to be honest.

I’ve never been here for the club, but I came here a little under 2 weeks ago to see For the Record: Tarantino. Up until now the For the Record shows have always been at Rockwell Table & Stage, but this year they moved it to DBA. I’m assuming the move is since DBA seats a lot more people so they can sell more tickets as the shows are becoming more and more popular. The cast of rotating performers has also become a lot larger in the past year. DBA does not have its own parking lot, so the only parking options seem to be valet or street parking. Since I went early on a Sunday evening we were able to find street parking pretty easily. The show is at 8PM but doors open at 7PM. If you bought your tickets through their website then you would have chosen your own seats; we bought our tickets through Goldstar so our seats were chosen for us. We were seated in the front corner booth on the left side. Our view was pretty good for most of the show. I have to say that the FTR: Tarantino show really utilises the space well. The performers walked/climbed on pretty much every open area they could use and were even in the wall display cases at one point. There is a two-item minimum order per person for the show. Their food options are VERY limited: they only offer popcorn and licorice. Their popcorn is from CC Made and comes in four flavours: Classic Caramel, Pistachio Caramel, Spiced Almond Caramel, and Rosemary & Cashew Caramel. Since three of those have nuts I went with the Classic Caramel, which was pretty good. I heard their licorice is not good so I would stay away from that. They have a fuller alchohol menu that consists of cocktails, red and white wines, champagne, and beer(as well as water and sodas for non-alcohol drinkers). All the ladies in our group went with the Fox Barrel Pear Cider, which the menu takes care to note is gluten free. And it was good! I really liked the pear cider and would definitely get it again next time. The show itself was amazing, as always. I had seen it before(three times) at Rockwell the last time they did it and it was PERFECTION. I had so much fun watching it and I listened to that CD(yes, they have an album!) non-stop for a couple months afterwards. Being so attached to that version of the show, my feelings towards the current version are a bit conflicted. But no matter what, the talent showcased in this show is top-notch and the songs are wonderful to listen to. They mix up songs and scenes from Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill 1&2, Death Proof, Inglorious Basterds, and Djano Unchained. It’s a lot of fun and if you haven’t seen a FTR show, then you must definitely get over to DBA and watch one! Four stars instead of five because I love this show so much more at Rockwell and want them to bring it back there…
