Solid neighborhood eats. Happy hour begins at 3 and can be quite a bargain. We had lunch for two with drinks for $ 15. Food is prepared with care and there are plenty of options for every type of dietary restriction. The sweet corn tamales were incredible. Worth a visit.

First time here, was a great experience the server(Gabriel) was very nice and attentive– which I’ve heard the service there is horrible but I beg to differ. The wait was about 20 min which wasn’t bad for a Saturday morning. The host were very nice too. I had the chipotle scramble. It was good, but I wasn’t too crazy about it. I also had the French toast which was good as well.

The food is delicious, reasonably priced, well-portioned, and healthy! I got the pasta papa and matcha green tea latte during my first visit. The pasta papa was delicious and very satisfying because of all the eggs, bacon and ground turkey. The matcha green tea latte was also good! They are really good about offering different kinds of milk(almond, coconut, soy, rice, etc.) and having gluten-free and vegan alternatives. The last time I had take out and got the pasta Mama and iced apple cider. Both of course were delicious! The iced apple cider is so refreshing and has a good texture. I’ve never seen homemade iced apple cider anywhere else so it’s definitely unique and original. As for the pasta mama, I loved it! I personally like the pasta mama over the pasta papa and will probably be sticking to that from now on. :D Good service too! Our waitress on our first visit was very sweet and helpful. They also validate parking in the structure across the street.

Excellent vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free menu. Really any dietary restriction they can accommodate. I got the green tamale plate, which wasn’t as good as I was expecting it to be but was still fab. Great drink selection too – smoothies, lemonades, teas. Wahoo! Our server was as attentive as necessary, but not too pushy when we forgot to pay the check because we were busy talking. Wheeee

Came here on a date and had a really delicious hummus wrap! The prices are decent and it wasn’t too crowded. There’s also a very varied menu

Since I was younger I have been going to Hugo’s with my family at least a couple times a month. All I can say is, there is NO restaurant that accommodates all of my gluten free/vegan needs while still pleasing the less educated palate of my sister like Hugo’s. At a young age, I was exposed to the Pasta Jack(pre gluten free dairy free lifestyle) which is the best kids meal item in the entire world. Following that, I began getting the very green casserole which not only keeps you full and satisfied, but tastes OUTOFTHISWORLD even with the vegan cheese! Right now, I switch off between the turkey burger on a gluten free bun(which is just the perfect burger) and the breakfast salad, which I think might as well be the best salad in LA. I am a huge fan of trendy health places, but often I leave unsatisfied. Hugo’s never disappoints and is surely in my top 5 favorite Los Angeles restaurants! ALSO: the turmeric tea will rid you of all your illnesses in 10 minutes.

Absolutely perfect– casual(check), great food(check), aware of allergies and diets(check), friendly and knowledgeable staff(check), convenient(check). I can’t think of one thing I would change aside from the veggie bacon which tasted like a weird bbq fruit roll-up. I love the variety here– vegan, veggie, gluten-free, plain old American eating, you want it, they got it. The vegan French toast is nice, and you can ask for one slice on the side. The green corn tamales for brunch were perfect– held together nicely and still have good texture. The blueberry pancakes were purple because of the awesome amount of blueberries. I love the creative teas and tesanes. If you like turmeric, that one with almond milk is warming and slightly bitter.

Ironically, this place, and not some Indian joint, popped my pakora cherry. And I have no regrets! The oyster mushroom po’boy was too big for my small Asian mouth, but it packed a punch of flavors. The blueberry pancakes were decent; minus one star for a burned one.

I was so excited about trying Hugo’s. The restaurant itself is very quaint and atmosphere felt very comfortable and customer service was very nice. Food looked amazing too, I was very excited. I ordered Papa’s scramble which was an egg scramble, Italian sausage, and bacon bits. It was good, but about 10min. into eating, my friend and I both felt sick. We were immediately sick and in the bathroom… Not a good experience. Neither of us finished our food. Not sure what happened but we had stomach aches for the next several hours. I really wish my experience was better after having food here.

Healthy option for brunch without all the unnecessary calories. I did not like the chia tea latte here too much tho. Their omlets are wonderful and the menu is so extensive. Very busy on a weekend, but the wait was not too long for 2 people. I did notice that the staff were a bit inundated so it was hard to flag someone down when there was an error with our order, etc. I’ll be back, Hugo’s :) Parking lot is in the back, another score!

Loved loved loved Sunday brunch with my mom. Found this place on a whim and glad I did. Looks a bit dodgy but it has history. Our waitress was great and told us the specials and the history of the restaurant. 1) pasta mamma– Vegetarian breakfast pasta with garlic, egg, spinach, and other vegetables. 2) Potato pancakes with poached eggs and veggies. Very filling and the coffee was flowing. Parking is not a hassle as the lot is behind the restaurant.

Ok, solid 3.5, but there’s no setting for that hah. If any of you have ever been to Austin, this place reminds of kerbey lane or if you’re in Dallas, it’s like café Brazil. Yes yes I know, Texas references! What can I say, Texan at heart duh! It’s a very reasonably priced place with huge portions and that type of crowd… all over SoCal, there are so many thin people, but not at hugos! So that aside, it’s a place to go after partying too hard on the night before. The choices, oh the choices! You’ll be so confused at what to get because it all sounds good and there are just a million decisions. I got the corn tamales and they were pretty decent. Not my style of tamales, but they were huge and good enough to satisfy my hunger. The boy got an egg scramble(I think it was a meat special) and he liked it well enough. Sorry guys, I totally forgot what it was called — Unilocal fail. Think eggs and potatoes and meat. Classic. The watermelon lemonade was a special and don’t get it, it just tastes like regular lemonade, but you get free regular lemonade refills! Not bad! Mac and cheese was super cheesy and full of different cheeses, worth the try, but it got tiring. I personally thought it was too thick and there was too much flour, but it was good if you’re comparing to a normal Mac and cheese. Again, not a place I’d love to go again unless I’m getting over a hangover and need to stuff face! A few advantages though: big portions, good prices, free lemonade refills, quick, sides that come free with entrée.

The menu boasts everything from breakfast, to lunch and dinner. It’s pages long! The staff is kind and attentive. The food is incredible! I love every breakfast I ordered — especially the almond pancakes and the scrambles — Papas is the bomb. Substitutions are welcome. The Spinach lemonade rocks my universe, too. Be sure to order dessert though I haven’t indulged — the list is endless and the licorice tea is so rare and to die for!

I came here around 2pm with a friend for lunch and we were seated almost immediately. Probably waited for like 2 minutes. We were greeted by a lovely hostess that sat us right into a corner table meant for 2. Then our waitress came not too long after to ask us what we were drinking. My friend got the«green juice,» I don’t even know what it’s called, the restaurant seemed to know right off the bat what it was. At first I thought the green juice was made with the stout short more acidic bananas and that was the first flavor I tasted. In fact that flavor masked most of the other flavors, but the green actually came from their liquid chlorophyll. The acidity I was tasting was from the orange juice that they put in there, and interestingly enough it had extra olive oil. Go figure, I didn’t taste that at all. For me was orange blended banana juice covered in «liquid chlorophyll» worth the $ 6.00? Nah. Chlorophyll is the organelle that is found in all green plants and veggies, I could probably make that at home by throwing in some parsley or kale in my banana-orange smoothie. What I did like was my order of Xingu Black Beer. I’m a bit of a dark beer fan and I love my stouts and porters. What I experienced was neither a stout nor a porter, but it was more similar to stout. It wasn’t «milky,» if that’s the right term to explain it, but the beer itself was delicious. Also I didn’t get carded, yay! But I swear I’m over age. When it came time to order my friend knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted an egg benedict with a side of fruit, and he ordered one single blueberry pancake at 2pm. YEP! This place serves breakfast at 2pm. He also suggested that I try their burger, so I looked at it and it sounded pretty good. You can customize the burger to your liking. I asked for a beef medium rare burger, with the soft rustic bun(it’s similar to a chibatta bun) and I had it with everything it normally comes with. The standard lettuce, tomatoe, and onions. What I loved most about the burger was that I was able to choose 3 more additions to it. I added guacamole, pico de gallo(it was put on the side), and goat cheese. And wow! The juiciness of the medium-rare beef, combined with the soft«rustic, ciabatta bun,» with my additions were amazing. It kind of reminded me of my favorite burger joint that I had to jump through hoops and obstacles to get to. It’s not as good, but it definitely would rival it. The best part about my meal was that the beer was great, the burger was wonderful, and the company was nice. Cha-ching! 5 stars in my book any day. On a side note, I do observe my surroundings as I am prone to do when I am in unfamiliar territory. Since this is in upscale West Hollywood upon inspection of the entire store I noticed that I was one of the few ethnic people around. It almost felt a little weird. But it was nice. It kind of reminds me of television shows where you’re in Los Angeles and all you see are blonde people and hipsters. Just something to chuckle mentally about =].

Sunday morning. Walked in and was told there’s a 15 minute wait. That’s fine. Once we were seated it took about 10 – 15 minutes for our waiter to approach us. He took our drinks orders. He never came back. We finally flagged down another guy to bring us some waters. When our waters arrived, the coffees finally did as well. Then our food a minute later. I had the Chilaquiles with a bowl of fruit. It was just okay. A bit heavy for me with the sour cream on it as well. I’m guessing I should have ordered potatoes instead of the fruit. Would have been a better mix of flavours for breakfast. Our drinks were never refilled and the waiter never came back to check on us. We also noticed the table near us struggling to get some help. They need more staff, or at least one person walking around refilling waters and other drinks. I’m giving a review on the service. I know it’s not the waiters fault. He looked a bit stressed as well. We had no trouble finding parking in the lot behind the building. There were certainly a lot of people inside so I’m guessing most people walked there. Weren’t very many parking spots to accommodate the number of tables.

I just tried the Lentil vegetable loaf as a side(from their July specials menu) and it is by far one the best vegan meat loaves I’ve had in my life. I hate soy based and grain based ones cause the taste is owner powering but the red lentil loaf was just perfect. With a squeeze of organic ketchup and this lentil loaf is one of the best items on this entire menu and I love almost everything on their menu. Pleaseeee put this on your everyday menu and not just on specials!

The food here at Hugo’s is absolutely delicious, the wait on the other hand kind of sucks, especially on a weekend. Have eaten here a couple of times and the wait was ridiculous, 30+ mins, always on weekends. The menu on the other hand is pretty great, not gonna lie. My go-to dishes in the morning would have to be either the peach upside down pancake or the green tamales and egg white, both meals are unreal and amazing. The service at this place is pretty average but the location in West Hollywood is gorgeous especially after a long night. Pair this with a freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and you have yourself a winner! Pros– Food Menu options Portions Juices Outdoor dog friendly seating Location Brunch Cons– Average service Long wait on weekends A tad expensive

A great choice for your breakfast as they have a variety of regular american and special organic food in delicious quality. Great ambiente and excellent service. I would go there more often if I would stay longer in LA.
