Yep, Jao is truly as good as it can possibly get for a great hair color and style experience. I always want my blond weave to look natural and rich and Jao gets it every time. I know because I get stopped on the street and told by complete strangers how great my hair looks. I’m so grateful I found Jao, he not only is a genius colorist he is intelligent and interested in so many things. Our conversation is always inspiring as well as the documentaries we often watch while my hair is being transformed. Always an uplifting experience.

Jao is amazingggggggg! It really is an understatement. I came here all the way from the bay just to get my hair cut. He really spends his time on your hair and knows exactly what you need. Jao — He just «gets it.» He’s the master colorist. He LOVES what he does and it really shows in his work. Easy parking underneath… 5 stars all the way!

In 2010, the hair stylist I had used for 8 years moved away from LA. I shopped around for several months and eventually tried Jao based on a peer’s recommendation. Since that first cut, I have gone to no one else. His technique is fantastic, and he adapts to whatever I may need at the time. If mom is coming to town, we go more conservative. If I’m feeling bold, we try something more trendy. And no matter what he does, my hair always looks great. Without fail, I always get compliments for at least 2 weeks after each cut.

Love Jao!!! I have been in la for 8 years. I went through 5 different hair stylists to do blonde hair right. I have a weird hairline that so many stylist have missed. Been going to Jao for two years now. I feel confident and not scared anymore «are they going to get my hairline right?» Just got my hair done yesterday and so in love with my blonde color. The salon space is so beautiful, classy and clean. So happy I found him! Couldn’t be more happier:) Very sweet and overall great talented person!

Simply put: Jao is the F**kin’ man. Haircuts gave me anxiety until I stumbled into his place one lucky day. Now I go every three weeks because he’s the only stylist who gets what I want and takes the time to make sure that happens. This is my first Unilocal review I have taken the time to write so that goes to show something about his work.
I’m stoked to have wandered into his place because I not only have a new stylist, but a genuine friend. An hour at Jao’s is always a great time because he’ll listen to you and provide insight and I don’t know how he does it. Before I know it, the hours up, he’s listened to me vent all my problems, and my hair looks fresh as Ef thus making all my problems go away because I’m so happy about my haircut. Now my brother goes to him as well so I’d suggest you all do the same.

I moved to LA about 6 months ago and was hopping from stylist to stylist trying to find a good one. I am very happy that I have finally found Jaõ. He is skilled at what he does and when I told him I didn’t want a full clipper cut, he actually listened. Jaõ does scissors over comb and does it very well. Parking is easy and he is located in a place that has cafes and restaurant which makes it easy to have lunch before or after the cut. Jaõ works with other people in a cute small salon and the vibe is super chill. I will be sticking with Jaõ from here on out.

I simply love recommending Jao to people because they always come back raving about how amazing he is and how grateful they are for the great tip! All this time he has never been on Unilocal so I am excited to finally give him the online praise that he deserves and help spread the love.
I am a dark brunette who had dreams of being a blonde and I have finally found the perfect man to make those dreams come true.
Jao is a wizard with color and I can just sit there and relax while he does his magic, relaxed and safe in knowledge that it will look perfect and last for months!

I’ve gotten my hair professionally colored for many years, but since I started going to Jao a couple of years ago, it’s never been better. He uses good quality color. Whether he does single process or color with highlights, he always gets it right. And he never keeps me waiting … which is an added bonus.
I like Salon Republic. It’s a great concept. I can book appointments with Jao directly. There’s parking in the complex, and Salon Repbublic validates. (Depending on how long the appointment is, it covers part of all of it.) And there’s street parking available a couple of blocks away, too.
I’ve recommended Jao to several people, and all have been very happy with his services.

Let me start off by saying I wouldn’t go to anybody else! I go to Jao for everything from a simple trim to a Keratin treatment, and he is a genius with color. His talents are endless, and my husband and daughter go to him as well. I have even taken several of my friends to him. Hair skills… Jao definitely has them, but it doesn’t end there. Jao is a great conversationalist and is very friendly. I have found it very rare to find somebody that I completely trust with my hair and is also genuinely fun to be around. Finally, I will end with this… Jao is soo accommodating. He always makes time for me and my family. To sum it all up, Jao is great and I would recommend him to everybody.

I have been going to Jao now for about 18 months, I have lived in LA for 21 years and been to several hair stylists over the years.
He does my base color, highlights, cut and blow, I have never seen my hair look as good, he certainly has an eye for my base color and highlights, his cuts are out of this world and as far as a blow dry he is amazing. I used to say no one can blow my hair the way I like it until I met Jao.
For me he is by far the best hair guy in the biz.
Not only that, he listens when I say I want one inch, he takes one inch not 3, he is one of the most loyal, down to earth, real, caring individuals I have come across. I give Jao 5 stars, would highly recommend as I have found no one better in 21 years of living in the USA.

Jao is a hair genius! I moved here a year ago and had to find a new hairdresser. Jao came highly recommended by a friend of mine and he is fabulous. I am a blonde and he did amazing on my highlights and lowlights. He gave me a great cut as well, I can literally blow dry and go!!!
