I have been looking for a solid hair stylist since I moved to the LA area six months ago. I can say that I finally found someone that I trust with my hair. Paul offers a consultation before he cuts your hair and keeps the dialogue very open to make sure you are comfortable. I live in Malibu and drive all the way to west Hollywood for Paul which speaks to the quality of His haircuts.

Paul was great. After having been disappointed by a round of different haircutters who had their own ideas of how my hair should be cut and styled, I found Paul while searching through Unilocal.The reviews that drew me to his salon were indeed helpful and truthful. He listened to my likes and dislikes, and cut my hair in a pleasing style which I felt much more comfortable and happy with. His online booking was very convenient and efficient as well.

I had a very vague idea of how I wanted my hair to be cut, but Paul knew exactly what would look good and gave me my best haircut yet. Thanks Paul!

Paul is brilliant at what he does! He’s cut my hair perfectly multiple times now. I’m not going anywhere else again! And it doesn’t hurt that he’s a super nice guy! I highly recommend Paul and WeHo stylists studio to EVERYONE. Hard to find a good cut in LA but Paul made it super easy!

Paul is excellent. He’s friendly, passionate about his craft, and more than willing to work with you so that you get exactly the cut you want. I went in with a vague idea of what I wanted my hair to look like, and after taking a look at my hair and head shape, he gave me some of his opinions of what would look good.
What I really liked was his flexibility. He mentioned that he didn’t have an ego when it came to his haircuts and that I should definitely let him know if I wanted anything done differently. He took his time throughout the entire session. Nothing was rushed which translated into a really sharp cut!
A few helpful notes:
Location: WeHo Stylist Studio is located within Salon Republic. When you walk through the doors, you’ll take a left. When I visited the receptionist was more than happy to escort me towards Paul’s area.
Parking: Ample garage parking is available. There’s 90 minutes of free parking with validation. Simply scan your ticket at the front desk in the reception area after your haircut and you’ll be good to go!
Overall, if you’re looking for a new place to get your haircut, look no further! I’ll be sure to be back for my next haircut. Highly recommended.

Paul was superb. I picked him to have my hair cut a week before my wedding, and couldn’t have asked for better service. Paul is very personable, easy to talk to, and helps the time pass while you’re getting it cut. He’s got a great eye and it was easy to trust his opinion. Booking online was really easy as well. The service and experience was great, and you get a level of personal attention you normally don’t expect. I would definitely come back.

Since I used Unilocal to find this place, and since I’m really feeling my haircut afterwards, I’ve gone to the trouble to make a Unilocal account to post a review.
Executive Summary: Especially good for men’s short haircuts; I was very happy with my cut and with the stylist/​owner; Pricey but not outrageous, and a good value for what you get.
A few points:
1. Paul W is the main guy, and his salon is a small room that seems to hold about one client at a time. I really enjoyed this aspect. It felt intimate and focused on just me. We could «small talk» candidly. I found Paul to be friendly, personable, and smart.
2. Paul offers a discount if you post a Unilocal review, which isn’t uncommon but is worth taking into consideration. Still, I found that his services lived up to his «5 star» rating. I wasn’t even going to post a review since I don’t get a «nice» haircut very often, but I’m really happy with it.
3. I always prefer to schedule things online rather than calling, and I scheduled my appointment with Paul using the website
. Worked like a charm, and it will [optionally] text/​e-​mail a reminder.
4. If you’re like me, you like supporting LGBT small businesses, and you are doing so here. I feel more comfortable getting my hair done by a fellow «friend of Dorothy.»
5. I paid $ 50 for a men’s haircut, before tip. I usually go to a SuperCuts for $ 15. You definitely get what you pay for. However, there’s an upper-​limit to what I’ll pay for, especially considering that we’re in L.A. (I once had a friend who got a not-​so-​special men’s haircut for $ 300 in Beverly Hills). I really felt like I got an $ 85 cut for $ 50. (A 20% tip is common, which brings it to $ 60).
6. The reason that this business is both «Weho Stylist Studio» and «Salon Republic» is this: Salon Republic is the mother business, and it contains a bunch of hair/​beauty businesses inside of it. This is common in this field — stylists often «rent» a chair in a salon or a salon space in a larger salon and run it independently. For this reason, looking for stylists on Unilocal can get confusing. So Paul W’s business is «Weho Stylist Studio,» but when you are arriving you look for «Salon Republic.»
7. Salon Republic is in a really nice shopping center that also has: Crunch Gym, Trader Joes, Burke Williams spa, Starbucks, and a movie theater.
8. There is a parking garage with parking validation up to 90 minutes.
9. He’s big into using hair products that do not contain sulfates or other supposedly-​bad chemicals. I didn’t purchase the hair product he used to style my hair at the end, but I’m tempted to go back — I really like it.

For an amazing cut, color or both go see PAUL. Great prices for exceptional work! He is extremely passionate about hair and the results prove it! I’ve adopted him as my new hair stylist.

Only wonderful things to say about Paul and the job he does. He is extremely knowledgeable and very talented. The first time I went to him I had no idea what I wanted, and he talked me through what my hair and head shape naturally lean towards, and then gave me the best haircut of my life.
I left his studio knowing more about my hair, looking better, and not broke! What’s not to like?
On top of it all, Paul is an incredibly nice man, and his studio is small, with usually just him working there; instead of the chaotic, loud, and busy feel of most salons, Paul offers a quiet and comfortable environment.

As a new comer to LA last year, it was refreshing to find a hair stylist like Paul without the LA snooty attitude which we’ve all run into. Paul is down to earth, exceptionally talented (cuts my hair DRY!) and is a delight to be around. I’m also not particularly well-​versed in hair so it’s nice to just give Paul the reins and let him do his thing. I’ve never been disappointed. A true gem and the cream of the crop when it comes to Salon Republic.

Also, he uses all natural organic products, much safer.

I’ve lived in LA for two years now, from San Francisco. After many failed attempts to find a good stylist and keep them, I finally came across one who actually knows what they are doing! Paul listens to what you want and creates and executes it perfectly. I’ve found my stylist and I have no desire to move on to another. He’s stuck with me! Highly recommended!

Paul has been cutting my hair for the last few years. Every time I go to someone else when our schedules didn’t work out, I hated my hair. He really knows what he’s doing. Does a good job with color too (I’ve heard…)

Paul has been cutting my hair for the past several years. In that time, I’ve both grown my hair out and cut it short – and he’s done a great job at either length. I trust his advice and I can’t recall ever leaving his chair unhappy. I’m picky and particular, so I also like that he’s patient. He never rushes through my haircut, which is something I hear about a lot of other stylists. He cares about his work. I definitely recommend.

Not too long ago, I approached Paul with one of those propositions that stylists dream about. Well, I just needed green hair and a haircut. Paul obliged and gave me one of the best hair cuts I have ever had, and that means a lot to me since I have a tall forehead, bumps over my ears, and hair that grows in various directions. In the past, I have left haircuts looking like someone auditioning for the movie Dumb and Dumber. That surely wasn’t the case with Paul, as he took care to cut my hair in a way that allows it to lay flat on my head. For the color, Paul fastidiously ensured it looked great. He had me come back for an inspection just to make sure he didn’t need to touch it up.
