I could say enough good things about Jean Dousset if I tried. My fiancé and I loved working with Jean and his team. They are absolutely the best.
And the ring — what can I say?! It’s probably a safety hazard; we got engaged 6 weeks ago and I still can’t stop staring at it. The ring is beyond stunning. I’ve had strangers stop me in public and say it’s the most beautiful ring they’ve ever seen. I have to agree.
The only sad part is we don’t get to see and chat with Jean and Basile anymore!

We worked with Jean to create my stunning engagement ring and I have to say that the experience was simply without compare! We could not be happier with the result (I literally get stopped in the street by people asking about my ring, and how it is so sparkly!)
It all started when I saw a picture of a beautiful oval cut engagement ring on Instagram. I reached out on the website with some questions and was pleasantly surprised when the team got back to me within a couple hours! We arranged to jump on a video chat to go through all of our questions and Jean joined the call personally.
He talked us through all of our options, and really educated us on what to look for. He never tried to push us in a certain direction, just just listened patiently and explained our options. His ability to find exceptionally beautiful diamonds is what puts him in a league of his own! We learned that two different diamonds with identical grades can «perform» in the light very differently. Essentially the beauty of a diamond cannot be boiled down to it’s grades. The inclusion locations, quality of the cut, and other properties cannot be quantified by the grades.
Simply put if you are looking for a truly exceptional diamond that will sparkle like nothing you have ever experienced — then Jean is the only man for the job!
I had always been perplexed by friends who had large engagement rings that didn’t seem to sparkle, but it makes more sense to me now.
After we collaborated on a design that incorporated a diamond pave orchid flower and pink sapphire signature stone on the back of my ring we met with Jean in person to review several options for the center stone. Sitting in his beautiful studio, with Jean sitting in a gorgeous antique chair from Cartier himself and being asked to choose between these stunning diamonds was a truly magical experience and something that my husband and I will never forget.
The final ring is just breath taking and features the following elements that I couldn’t find from any other jeweler in all of my exhaustive research:
The Diamond:
The most beautiful diamond I have ever seen. I will never tire of seeing it sparkle!
The Halo:
A seamless halo (no prongs to distract from it’s beauty!) that flows seamlessly with the diamond and an elegant skinny band to really help the center diamond shine. I compared this setting to Harry Winston and some of the other traditional jewelers that I had research and it is just flawless! The other settings felt chunky in comparison.
The Orchid Setting:
The most exquisite custom setting to honor my grandmother. Most jewelers would not have had the skill to execute such an intricate micro pave design — or the dedication to personalized service to want to bother trying :)
The Signature Stone:
I chose the beautiful light pink color to reflect the color or the Orchid flower that inspired the setting and to compliment my pink argyle diamond wedding band.
Jean — we can’t thank you enough. My ring is just TOO BEAUTIFUL for words and is something that we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives!

Yes, his designs are absolutely stunning and one of a kind, but it’s the service and his genuine care of his clients that makes him stand out above all other designers.
My fiancé and I talked about engagement rings a couple times in the past and I’ve mentioned that a Jean Dousset design would be my dream ring. I guess he paid attention! We planned a trip to Taiwan for my brother’s wedding and following that a trip directly to Bali. My fiancé worked with both Jean and Angela and created a beautiful engagement ring for me. Even on a tight schedule, Jean and Angela made it happen. Not to mention they respected the budget my fiancé gave them and answered all his questions. They walked him through the entire ring creation process. On Sept. 11, 2014 my now fiancé proposed to me with this gorgeous Jean Dousset engagement ring. It brought me to tears. It’s more beautiful than I could ever imagine. When we got back, I got to meet both Jean and Angela. Let’s just say… the nicest people there could be! We will be going back for our wedding rings for sure!

My fiancé worked with Jean Dousset and his team to select and design my engagement ring. The results are truly breathtaking. I have no words to describe how elegant, delicate, and insanely sparkly my ring is and I am blown away by all of the stunning pave diamonds and detailing. Jean’s attention to detail is simply second to none.
My fiancé was looking all over Los Angeles to find a jeweler who could make his vision come to life, and Jean Dousset was the only one who not only created the perfect ring, but made it even more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. He and his team hand made a ring that is more beautiful than any ring I saw while shopping together with my fiancé (and we went everywhere from the jewelry district to browsing stores like Cartier, Tiffany’s, etc.).
While he says he wishes he had gone to Jean from the very beginning, I know that his experience shopping elsewhere before coming to Jean was valuable — that’s how he knew Jean’s craftsmanship, quality, and design were truly unparalleled. For those of you who are at the beginning stages of engagement ring shopping, I don’t think it’s quite apparent yet just how much a diamond’s cut affects its beauty. It’s easy to go onto an online diamond seller’s website and purchase a stone which meets your 4 C’s requirements, but only a jeweler with the kind of expertise that Jean has can evaluate it to see how well it reflects light and sparkles, and whether the investment makes sense.
It has now been a little over a week since my fiancé and I got engaged. Almost every day, people stop me to admire my ring or ask about it – and every day it catches my eye and I admire how beautiful it is. It’s hard to find someone who will put the same care and love into creating a piece of jewelry that you expect to put in to a proposal/​engagement/​marriage, but when you do find that someone, they make the whole process so much more beautiful. There are few experiences that can even be called comparable to the first class experience with Jean and his team. Look nowhere else, I tell you this through experience Jean is an all start and treats you like one from the moment you walk into his humble store front.
I wanted a timeless unique ring got my fiancé, we went with a beautiful cushion cut in Rose Gold with pink argyle diamond in the halo — the ring came out and literally turns heads — he nailed it because he took the time to know me and my fiancé and he accepts nothing but quality over quantity.
Jeans team made my life so much easier by holding my hand and ensuring to deliver a dynamite finished product.
Class act

I was set on the Emerald cut for an engagement ring but had a hard time finding them for a fair price. It seemed like my boyfriend and I searched everywhere and nothing seemed to jump out at us for the setting. I found Jean Dousset online and went in unannounced. Jean and Angela welcomed us in with open arms. They were patient, attentive and guided him through.
It is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen! My fiancé and Jean did amazing work together. When my guy opened the leather, light up ring box revealing my dream ring I burst into tears. Such an incredible moment. Then Jean named the ring after me! We couldn’t have had a better experience. I will be getting my fiancé’s wedding band from him as well as all future jewelry. We can’t thank him and Angela enough!

My fiancé worked with Jean to create the most gorgeous sapphire and diamond engagement ring… it was nothing like the standard rings I saw everywhere. It is unique and beautiful. I absolutely love it. It is stunning. It is named the «Kelly» after me… so fun!
When my fiancé took me ring shopping to get some ideas (and to make sure he was making the right choice! ha ha. Especially since I’m a designer and stylist for clothing and accessories) we went to all the typical LA places… Tiffany, XIV Carats (the worst of our experiences by far BTW), vintage stores, estate stores, etc. about 12 stores in all.
No one impressed us as much as Jean though. He’s passionate about what he does and he is a great designer. Angela who works with him is also great… she is on top of everything and when my ring was re-​sized, she drove it over to me since I couldn’t get to WeHo the day it was ready.

Jean and his team are amazing. What can I say? Not only did they create a GORGEOUS engagement ring for me, but both my husband and my wedding bands are Jean’s designs too. Additionally, much to my surprise, my husband asked Jean to create gorgeous earrings for me to wear during our nuptials as well. He really does it all and does it well.
I always knew he was a great jeweler, but it wasn’t until he went above and beyond to find my sister the perfect wedding band that I knew he was the best!

When I started searching for rings I looked online and visited several local stores. I was drawn to Jean’s website and the thought of being able to create a unique one of a kind ring so I sent him an email which he responded back to immediately! Yes, he sent me a personal email!
I was nervous when I started rasing shopping. I have a tendency to be «dazzled» and «over-​sold». It’s not that I’m an idiot, exactly… it’s just that I didn’t know that much about diamonds. I’d done the obligatory «4 C» research… but didn’t really understand how each contributed to the value of the stone. Jean took the time to explain to me, in detail, what the 4 Cs were and which ones were the most important and why.
It did not take me long to decide to work with Jean… and after seeing the reaction to my fiancée’s ring, I am continually reminded that I made the right decision. Heidi’s ring is a custom-​made piece of art and is nothing short of stunning. She is complimented on it constantly and has even been stopped by strangers wanting to admire it.
When I started working with Jean, I was not only surprised, but delighted with top-​notch customer service. During the buying process, I sent Jean a hundred emails, each with at least ten questions. Each email was answered promptly with enough detail to be helpful, but not so much as to be confusing. I never received a copy-​paste or canned response. The service was the same before, during, and after the sale. Jean’s customer service team still checks in with me every couple of months to make sure we’re still happy with our purchase.
I was also really impressed with Jean’s integrity. He asked for my budget and stayed within it. I was never pressured to spend more.
While education, customer service, and integrity were important factors in my decision to work with Jean, the deciding factor was the ring. I was buying a ring for the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. She is one-​in-​a-​million, and I didn’t want her to have the same ring that everyone else had. I didn’t want to walk into a store and buy the same stock-​setting that a hundred other people had purchased… I wanted it to be unique. And it was. Jean hand-​selects all of his diamonds. After the diamond selection is complete, his workshop in Beverly Hills hand-​makes every setting. Everything about the ring was custom… from the metal work to the hand-​set micro-​pave… nobody will ever have the same ring.
The ring truly is a piece of art Heidi and I will treasure for the rest of our lives. I cannot recommend Jean highly enough! If you are looking to give a one-​of-​a-​kind gift to someone special in your life, Jean Dousset is the only choice.
