Please note that this place is now CLOSED and has been for at least a month. They have a sign on the door telling you to check out their sister restro. It’s not clear if they will reopen anytime soon. RIP the beef bourguignon!

This place is simply a gem. I’ve been coming here for a couple years now and every time I go, I’m blown away by their service. My glass, whether it be wine, champagne, or water, has NEVER been empty. Not once. Just when I’m about to have my last sip and pour some more, a waiter or waitress will appear to do it for me. Amazing. Bone marrow and oxtail marmalade… There are just no words for this decadent treat. Absolutely fatty but too delicious to pass up. Oysters are always fresh. Mussels are always so good… and the fries they serve alongside are so crispy and piping hot.

Oh Comme Ca, throughout the years we’ve had our ups and our downs, but recently one dish was so unbelievable that it is finally time to review an old favorite. I’ve dined here on and off for years — I’ve had everything from the poutine, to the burger(which is amazing) to the boeuf bourguignion. A few months ago I had dinner here, and they had just updated their menu. The bone marrow, of course, was fatty and divine. The steak frites was cooked to perfection, the steak was tender and the frites were crisp. But there was one dish that shone above the rest, a dish that to this day cannot get out of my head.(I also am having trouble finding the exact name of it online.) It was a beautifully cooked piece of salmon in a sort of tomato and cucumber soup. The tomato«soup» and cucumber«soup» somehow did not mix(think water & oil) and paired with the crispy salmon skin, it was out of this world. The flavors were unexpectedly subtle. Not sweet, not salty, just perfect. I usually don’t like to order salmon out at restaurants because I don’t order dishes out that I could just as easily cook at home — but something about this salmon was elevated and complex. I truly hope they did not take this item off of their menu because it is that item that I crave and will return for many times over. A final note: they make the best French 75 in town.

Wasn’t a big fan on my first go and still not convinced the second time around. Decided on taking advantage of the 30% off offer from Blackboard Eats and went with the Steak Frites with herb butter, pommes frites, and aioli. The steak was cooked properly(medium rare) and seasoned well enough, but man did they go crazy with the salt on those fries. Completely inedible. Food came out slow and the server was a no show when we needed her until it was time to pay. Also, not a fan of their seating arrangements — tiny hard metal chairs & small tables situated in close proximity to one another. So close where it felt as though the person seated at the table beside you could wrap their arms around you. Additionally, I had noticed their Roasted Beef Marrow & Oxtail Jam portion had shrunken in size from what I last recall. All in all it was a Meh experience yet again. Will not return. Don’t be surprised with the $ 8 surcharge for water. Crooks.

West Hollywood parking simply sucks, so getting«taken» by a meter and a long drive in had me fairly tense. But walking inside Comme Ca was soothing. The space and staff are attractive, definitely an upscale bistro. The place really has a nice feel and flow. We sat in the bar for some of the Happy Hour drinks, before moving to a table for a proper dinner. At $ 6 these drinks are a great deal. The Moscow Mule with vodka, fresh ginger and lime was delicious, and comes served in a High Ball. I guess this is to make room for the long, rectangular ice cube, but I was okay with that. My buddy had the Bramble, with gin, lemon and blackberries muddled at the bottom. This was also quite tasty, so kudos to the mixologist, but his drink was 90% ice. Beautiful chipped ice… but… a lot of ice. We also had a Tarte Flambé, which was insanely good. Fromage blanc, caramelized onions, and bacon lardons. Delicious!!! I could have eaten a few of these, though at $ 9 they were a little on the smaller side. Not sure if the regular menu app size is bigger. The Comme Ca Burger really is all that… It only says Prime Beef and Vermont Cheddar, but there was also a delicious cabbage/cole slaw like concoction on top. The meat was so well seasoned and cooked perfectly, and this is one BIG burger. Would definitely come back for their Burger night(Tuesdays, I think), where they offer up a few more varieties. The fries are also perfect. Darn it. We also had the Dorade Special, which was wonderful… Crispy, skin on, but delicate fish over a sweet pea risotto. Yeah, I could have licked the plate… But I DIDN’T. Sheesh… I do have manners and etiquette… usually. No room for dessert, though I should have forced the issue and gone for the Butterscotch Pot de Crème… Next time… next time. Thanks to Tatum, our wonderful server, for being so easy going and giving us great suggestions. I wish I lived closer, but I will certainly be back!!!

I’m thinking that the food here was a lot better before, since I couldn’t find a few things on the current menu that you Unilocalers raved about in the past. Roland L favors the Croque Madame and Cuc Crystal N likes the Scallops with Sweet Corn — dishes that I was longing to have tried. They only have one burger now — the Comme Ca Burger. It’s a thick prime beef burger with vermont cheddar, but I wouldn’t mind unloading on that handsome looking Swiss Melt Burger posted by Eli G. I hope that some remnants of the past will return soon for a come back tour. Comme Ca(meaning«like this» in French) is a charming date spot on the tail end of Melrose Ave, where it connects with La Cienega Blvd. They have this great little bar, where they make exclusive cocktails, dressed with appealing colors and ingredients, lavished by custom names such as Queens Park Swizzle, Midnight Reviver, and Mexican Firing Squad. I had the Strawberry Caipiroska and Moscow Mule — both invigorating and quenching my parched throat on a cool evening. The place is pricy, not to the point where it’s gonna make you cringe, but hopeful in the sense that you get your money’s worth for the time spent. TARTEFLAMBEE Imagine a thin, bacon pizza. Fromage blanc, caramelized onions, and bacon lardons. A dynamite appetizer that goes really well with their signature spirits. Easy to take down, gone within minutes after arriving at the table. Noteworthy hors d’oeuvres for me include — French Onion Soup, Salmon Tartare Toast, Roasted Beef Marrow & Oxtail Jam, and the Board of the Beast. STEAKFRITES The best entrée for me by far. For a medium rare steak, it was something special. The herb butter gave it that touch of creamy taste, but what really ruined it for me was the pommes frites. The fries were so damn salty, it just about ruined my meal. The Comme Ca Burger also came with the same potatoes. Equally pungent with sodium galore. Their specials are worth checking out. Like the fish and clam entrée that I experienced. I liked it more than my average cooked fished, crunchy in texture, juicy on the inside, with the clams providing that subtle boost. I’d wish I gotten the name of the entrée, but nevertheless, a satisfying dish from the sea. Other fares that I’d take a stab at — Bouillabaisse, Scuna Bay Salmon, and Heritage Pork Chop. Their sides are also very enticing, such as the Mac & Cheese Gratin. Make reservations, since the dining area is modest at best, especially if you’re expecting a larger party. The service can be charming, however rather absent after an hour. The overall taste of the food, read Enjella L’s clear cut description — «Food is extremely rich, heavy, buttery, and salty.» There’s valet parking out front, with metered parking being strictly enforced till midnight. Pay attention to the meal and your car, otherwise you’ll end up with a $ 53 parking tab like I did. CHRISEATSHERE in search of the han solo burger

I was afraid this was going to be once of those overpriced overrated faux French places, but I was wrong. I enjoyed my meal here. Is it overpriced, yes. Is it without reason, no. Came here on a weeknight with some friends and got a table. This restaurant is literally one block from where I live, so it’s about time I try it out. Server was nice, although seemed a little inexperienced. In any case, we ordered a whole slew of dishes. 1. House bread: I know it’s freshly baked, but seriously. A small breadstick for 4 people? I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or be angry. I ended up laughing and asking for 3 more sticks. 2. Tarte flambee: Loved this. It was one of those to-die-for salty-sweet combination plates with all the flavors of carmelized onions, this thing had meat, cheese, and a crispy thin pastry. 3. French onion soup: Have not had this in over a decade, but man, was it satisfying. It had a moderately thick layer of cheese over it, but the broth was addictive. 4. Moules frites: I thought this was just OK. Nothing special. The mussels were generic, but the broth was pretty good. 5. String beans with bacon dish: forgot the real name of this dish, but I liked it. Nothing special. 6. Bouillabaise: This had a conglomeration of various seafoods, from salmon to scallops to shrimp. Good dish, but not cheap. 7. Mac ‘n Cheese: I’m not that picky, so you MNC snobs out there, don’t judge me for it. I liked it a lot. A nice layer of crispy goodness over the macaroni. The cheese wasn’t overwhelming, which I liked. 8. Salmon tartare: Never got to try it because my friend finished it too fast *__* 9. Asparagus with egg: Really liked this! The egg yolk running over the soft asparagus. Yum! 10. Broccolini with some other veggies: One of my favorite sides. I highly recommend this dish. Plus, it’ll make you feel healthier after all the seafood calories you’ve consumed. 11. Devil’s Food Cake: amazing crunchy texture at the bottom with crème and caramel. Came with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Ahhh! I thought the salted caramel was a bit too salty, but the cake was delicious!

Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. I called at 12pm just want to check if it was busy here. And the lady said she could book me for 1:15pm. So I came in and found there were a lot of empty tables and by the time I left still no one came. I just don’t get it. But the place is quite cool. I like the interior and the set up. The waiters are cute guys, but the service was extra slow. I think we waited for like 25 min for a burger and a yogurt with granola, and an omelete came 5 min later. It wasn’t busy there, but the service seemed to be extremely slow, or just I was too hungry. I like the yogurt. The granola was kinda curry flavor, very interesting combination. But surprisingly I don’t like the omelette. I like that the egg was still kinda runny, but the inside goat cheese was way too strong and the asparagus and red bell pepper just didn’t combine very well together. The burger seems nice, but I don’t eat meat, so I didn’t try. Overall I just think the price was a little pricey for the food and the service. Maybe I will try dinner next time.

I really wanted to like this place since I heard such great things about it. But… I gotta say, I won’t be rushing back anytime soon. And I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. We went on a week night and ordered a few things, most of which are not memorable except I do remember… The French Onion Soup that this place is known for just sucked. Lacked flavor, lacked salt, boring. I felt like I could have made a better version… from a can. Seafood Platter — THISTHINGWASHUGE! It was good but the smoked mussels on it were gross, we left it on the platter. See picture of platter for reference. If you’re sitting at a 2 seat able, beware! The server didn’t even warn us. The service was a bit cold, not horrible, but not great either. Overall, the experience left much to be desired.

I’ve been here a few times, but always as someone’s guest. It would never be my first choice. I don’t think there’s anything really special about it. Parking is either meters on the street(usually two hour max. $ 3) or they have a lot with valet just west of the restaurant($ 5.50). The hosts and wait staff are alright. Service is fine. Nothing to write home about. Dishes I have had: –Fruits de Mer Platter 4 Good, but it’s pretty hard to mess up and expensive. –Comme Ça burger 3 –Steak Frites 4 The fries are really good, especially with the garlic aioli. –Mac & Cheese Gratin 3 –Bruno’s Quiche 3 –Butterscotch Pot de Crème 4 –Lemon Tarte 3 The prices aren’t too bad, especially considering some of it’s neighbors. Although I haven’t had any bad experiences, I haven’t had wow ones either.

Parking: Valet or Street(not too hard to find on weekdays, just keep your eyes peeled and read signs carefully) Payment: All RECOMMENDED: Make reservations! This is a rather small place. — — - Comme Ca, why must you always run out of the Oxtail Jam & Roasted Bone Marrow whenever I come here? Playing hard to get won’t work forever… I came for their burger, of course. The Burger: big, filling, succulent. The meat quality really shines through in the thick patty. I do wish, however, there was more to the burger. I’m a bigger fan of burgers with more ingredients than buns, meat patty, and cheese. And this one is SUPER oily, so you might have to give up several allowances of cheat days for this beast. The drinks are on the strong side, so depending on what you’re going for that evening, this can be good or bad. The bartenders do know their stuff though, and the flavors are pretty good. I guess the heaviness of the meal is meant to keep you from getting drunk too quickly. :P All in all, the friendly, posh but not overly dressy experience was really good. Now if I can just score some of that oxtail jam…

We came for the Comme Ca burger which was very difficult to eat because the meat and buns were thick! But we had a wonderful date night checking this off the list! Comme Ca has been on a couple of lists for having one of the best burgers in town, but for $ 18 you are definitely paying to eat off swanky Melrose Avenue in romantic lighting. When the burger came out, it towered on the plate. I tried to eat it traditionally with two hands, but it was impossible to open my mouth that wide. So I removed the top bun. The bread was probably the least impressive part anyway. It was filler and bland. The star of the show were the onions, cheese and perfectly good patty. My boyfriend described the burger as creamy and saucy. The meal came with mediocre fries. We swapped one of the sides for a «Pomme Aligot» which was basically mashed potatoes meets gooey cheese. My brain exploded at the first bite. Potatoes with the consistency of oogey gooey cheese — it looked like I was eating mozzarella. I couldn’t eat too much because it felt like I was consuming something really bad for me, but I was very intrigued. Very good meal, but probably not worth $ 18 specifically for the burger. But you’re paying for the atmosphere and to feel elitist of course. Dessert: Butterscotch pot de crème with salted caramel cream. Very good, but too thin for me, felt like pudding. It needed some crispy toppings to give it more textures.

We went here for Valentine’s Day but managed to avoid ordering off the Valentine’s Day Menu(it didn’t even seem like a good deal for the price…). Drinks: Excellent… I had the happy hour drink involving mint, gin, lime, and cucumber… it was quite good and well balanced. For dinner, I had the penicillin which I would highly recommend… it has a distinct smokiness to it and great flavor. Absolutely a 5 for the drinks. Food: We started with the meats and cheese plate for happy hour at the bar. It was very good, but it had no cheese? The meat was good, but this seems kind of misleading. For our appetizers at the table, we both ordered salads. My dining companion got the comme ca salad which was well balanced but nothing overly special… still tasty. I had the pear/blue cheese/spinach salad which was excellent. The bread was very good as well. For our entrees, my companion had the braised beef and I had the salmon. Portions were small for the price, but the taste was great. The salmon was very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The beef was very good as well and we both agreed that their preparation of lentils was very good. We opted not to go for dessert. the options looked good but we would rather just have high quality ice cream somewhere for half the price. 4.5 for the food Service: Service was ok. We thought the bussers/runners were nicer than the server. The service wasn’t bad by any means, but it was a little on the cold and stuffy side for us. We also had to ask for bread and I am not convinced we would have ever received it. Not enough to hurt the experience, but certainly not great for the price point. 3 for the service. Put it all together and this was a solid 4 and a very nice place to go for Valentine’s Day.

Simple décor. Wooden floors, black tables, white chairs and white couches. Black and white pictures outlined in thick black wooden frames. I was immediately attracted to the line of light bulbs that reflected against the large glass window. Valet parking available at the lot right next to the restaurant. Started with a beautiful medium full-bodied red Cabernet Franc recommended by our waitress. You really can’t have French food without wine… seriously. We originally came for dineLA, which 2 of my girlfriends enjoyed… but I went with the famous Comme Ca burger that I’ve heard some much hype about. + Marrow and Oxtail Jam — started with this because I heard it was a must. The oxtail jam is perfect. Beautiful texture that just melts in your mouth and the flavors are insanely good. The marrow was a bit much haha. I was shocked to see such a small portion of marrow, but I understood why after the first bite. A little goes a long way! Definitely one of my faves of the night. + French onion soup — soooooooo SOSO good, but then again… I’ve never NOT enjoyed French onion soup. + Smoked pork rillette — I didn’t get much of the smoke taste, but the texture of the rillettes and the crunchiness from the apples really worked well together. Liked the pork grinds on top; added more flavor. + Comme Ca Burger — pretty good, but not the best burger ever. The strong, char taste was a little too much for my liking… but the texture of the burger as a whole was perfect. + Confit of suckling pig — SO flavorful and tender… The kumquats added balance and originality to the confit. I enjoyed this entrée the most. + Pot de crème — My waitress said this was her favorite and she wasn’t lyin’! So damn good. If you’re not too full for dessert, you have to get this one. Actually, even if you are… get it. + Chocolate daquoise with salted caramel ice cream — the chocolate cake is very sweet and moist, but the salted caramel ice cream(so damn good) really balances it out. Overall, I had a great experience. It was cool… but to be honest Comme Ca didn’t wow me. I expected way more from the ambiance and food. Definitely one of those try-once-and-probably-wont-be-back places.

A couple of friends and I visited Comme Ca for dinner as part of restaurant week. The dimly lit restaurant was chic with white leather couches, white metal chairs and black tables. With the chatter of the patrons and the music playing, the decibel level was high turning tableside conversations into near shouting matches. After being greeted warmly and seated by the hosts, our waitress came to the table almost immediately. She provided excellent service during the entire evening and she recommended that we try the dineLA menu, which she said was fabulous. After perusing the regular menu and looking at the price points of most of the appetizers and entrees, we realized that the dineLA deal wasn’t really a great deal. However, since she recommended it, we all opted for it. I started with the smoked pork rillette, which was served with a layer of lard on top and a few pieces of green apple, pork skins and field greens. The pork had a nice flavor and it initially tasted quite good as I spread it on the buttered, grilled bread that accompanied the appetizer. But, after a few bites, the thickness and greasiness of the lard became a bit too much to handle. The confit of suckling pig with yellow foot mushrooms, blue lake beans and kumquat mostarda fell short. The pig was very dry to the point where I could only eat a few pieces of it and there wasn’t enough jus in which to soak the meat. The vegetables were too salty to enjoy. Dessert consisted of chocolate dacquoise. The chocolate was decadent and the almond and hazelnut pieces really complemented the cake well. However, the salted caramel ice cream was so salty that it was inedible. Having had the vegetables earlier, it appeared as though oversalting was a theme there. I was looking forward to trying Comme Ca given the reputation of the place. But, the experience — and the food in particular — was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe the items on the regular menu are better — less salty and juicier.

Came here during DineLA week. The regular menu items were offered along with the prix fixe menu for Dine LA. We passed on the«burger» that seems to be their signature dish. They offer hand crafted cocktails. I really enjoyed my Gin Bramble: Gin, lemon & muddled blackberries — it was neither sweet nor overpowering. Also on the drinks list: Gold Rush & Penicillin(both bourbon based) and a Strawberry Shake(alcohol not a milkshake — too sweet for me). We ordered from the regular menu in addition to the prix fixe offering. I really enjoyed having these dishes: 1. Oyster plate — they offered four varieties, and my favorite were the Kumamoto oysters: small, sweet and less briny than the larger oyster varieties(whose names escape me.) 2. Moules frites — Fennel, pernod, cream and sweet little mussels, served with«French» fries. This is a very large serving, enough for four to share or as an entrée by itself for two. Excellent eating! 3. Roasted bone marrow, served with the meat off the bone on the side as a very tender stew with onion jam. Excellent smeared over bread that’s toasted on a grill. 4. Beef tartare: a little jar of raw beef chopped goodness, served with little gherkins. Served with raw egg as is customary so avoid if you have some food intolerance. From the Dinner menu for Dine LA: Favorites: Parsnip & Celeriac root soup: Comes in a «milk bottle» which is poured by the server into the bowl which held just the right amount of roasted vegetables nestled in the bottom of the bowl —((velvety, creamy but not heavy, comforting). Roasted Organic chicken(Deboned and rolled thigh, with boneless breast and drummette attached —(I’ve heard TV chefs call it the California or LA chicken). Tender, juicy, flavorful, crispy skin on the outside. Served with roasted Brussels sprouts. Confit of suckling pig — dressed with an applesauce/kumquat flavored dressing. Tender meat, crisped up skin — mmm… I liked this dish the least: The Skate Wing Grenoblaise(skate wing was covered with an herbed breadcrumb crust and basted in a lot of caper butter.) Interesting taste, texture and apparently a throwback to the old menu. Desserts: requisite cream Brulee with lemon cookies — freshly torched, crunchy topping, served warm so not sure if that’s what was intended. The Chocolate Dacquoise! oh my! Rich, decadent, served with a quenelle of salted caramel ice cream. Service: Attentive, knowledgeable about tonight’s offerings, unobtrusive. 4 stars. Décor: reflects a French Bistro/Brasserie setting. The Blackboard walls have art and inscribed menus, quotes permanently chalked in. 4 stars. Furniture: What’s the deal with the non– upholstered seats? The metal chairs were diminutive, cold and hard. 2 stars. Bathroom: one entrance to side by side bathrooms. It confused me just a little bit(but then I had that cocktail under my belt too). Clean, private, sinks are all on the outer common hallway. Love that the walkway to the restrooms are a slight incline, no stairs — safety and accessibility first! 4 stars. My biggest surprise: $ 8 charge for a still water! Not common to get charged for that!

I came here to try the famous burger and I refuse to come back for many reasons. 1) the burger was Okay. It wasn’t exceptional. Patty was a bit too salty. The bun was over toasted. It wasn’t worth the price tag by any means. 2) I’m completely appalled by the service I received here. I sent my burger back because I found a hair on my patty. I didn’t give them any attitude about it, I just wanted a new one. 15 mins later the waiter came back with my same burger and explained that it wasn’t actual hair but just the hair from their oil brush. He then asked if I still wanted a new burger. Whether it’s human hair or brush hair, I don’t think it is okay to offer me the same burger. It’s been sitting out and has gone through many hands for inspection. and am i just suppose to believe that it’s brush hair? i think it’s common sense to immediately just rectify the situation by remaking a new burger. The restaurant did not do anything to ease the situation. Not coming back again to experience such horrible service.

Came out to try their brunch at the suggestion of some friends. It’s a small, café-like setting, and the staff members were quite attentive and kind. I ordered the Croque Monsieur, which is gruyère cheese and honey-baked ham grilled on pain de mie(a hearty white bread). They REALLY grill the bread. It came out and the edges were dark-brown(almost burnt) and the cheese on top was so crispy that it lost any flavor and made the sandwich taste like burned pizza. I felt like a 5-year-old again cutting off my crusts and scraping off the charred cheese, but once I did that, the sandwich was very good. Super cheesy and perfectly sweet with the plentiful honey-ham. The side salad was probably the worst I’ve ever had… don’t waste your time with it. Moral of the story: it’s good food but you might have to perform a little surgery on it first.

The venue is smaller than I imagined, but I liked the intimacy of the place. Soft lighting, black and white décor, nothing pretentious or over the top. It’s a good place to get cozy with your significant other or a relaxed night out with a couple of friends. Also, the crowd was a bit more mature, so if you aren’t looking for a night of debauchery then Comme Ca fits the bill — even for us kids who grew up watching Silver Spoons, Doogie Howser, Small Wonder… etc, etc. Anyway, I took special note of the bar and envisioned myself dedicating a night to try out all their different cocktails… should be good times! My food companions of the night were a couple of girlfriends that I hadn’t seen in a while, so as you can imagine, we had lots to catch up on! Our server took notice of our little reunion and gave us plenty of space to decide over the menu. He was really easy going and I cracked a couple of jokes with him — he seemed genuinely amused — thank goodness! Nothing is more awkward when you think you’re a real class act and the feeling is not mutual… Between our girl talk, we managed to order some cocktails, appetizers and entrees. I really wanted to try the Beef Bourguignon & beef marrow, but I wanted to eat something on the lighter side… I decided to save the aftermath of a food baby for when I return with the BF so I chose two oysters, the seared diver sea scallops, and the El Ranchero as my libation for the evening. While we waited for our appetizers, we gossiped and laughed. The bus boy working that night had a bad case of butterfingers, I think he managed to drop two things and knock something over — I felt bad for the guy, but no harm, no foul. Each table was engrossed in conversation, but the noise level was just average so you don’t have to worry about repeating yourself a bunch of times before giving up altogether. Appetizer: oysters $ 2.50 for one, I got 2 though I wanted more. I really enjoyed the Kumamoto oyster. They were fresh and served perfectly chilled. If I’m ever feenin’ for an oyster and was in the area, I would beeline it over to get oyster wasted. Entrée: seared diver sea scallops Cooked perfectly and a great choice if you don’t want anything too heavy. Scallops had a great texture, you get three which were more than enough for me. They sat on top of a bed of sauteed swiss chard and some sliced mushrooms, sprinkled with a few pieces of gniocchi. After a while I thought the sauteed chard was a pinch too salty but it still complimented the scallops well. The gniocchi was just okay, it didn’t have that pillowy texture so I was slightly disappointed. Libation: El Ranchero Not bad — tasted pretty refreshing. includes tequila, lime, cucumber, and mint. For $ 12 it was good but I think I’ll be a bit more adventurous on my next visit. I tried a bite of my friend’s lobster risotto. I was glad I didn’t order it, it was just okay. For $ 32, I was expecting something more. My other girlfriend ordered the Comme Ca burger, the thing was huge! She was only able to eat half, I didn’t try it but she vouched it was a good burger just slightly overdressed with mayo. Our order was brought out at a good pace, but we did have to ask for more bread. By the time the dessert menus were offered up, we were too full. I think we carb overloaded on the french bread and butter. it was almost addicting, especially since it was served warm. While we waited for the check, we were all out of water. My friend noticed a water pitcher right next to us at a little station situated in the dining area so we helped ourselves to refills of water to rehydrate. I wasn’t wowed by my first visit but I do want to return again to try the more heavier dishes as well as dessert. Overall, I am giving this place a 3 star rating, but hoping to bump it up to a 4 on my second time around.

My friends and I ate here for my birthday dinner Friday night, and it was anything but«comme si comme ça.» On the contrary, it was pretty amazing. We started with the assiette de fromage du jour, each of which was out of this world. The cheese man was a true connoisseur and spoke with great warmth, precision, and passion about the three — a melty Brillat-Savarin, a Dutch goat cheese, and a sharper French one, paired with dried bing cherries, dried apricots, and a drizzle of honey. And with some good, warm bread, our taste buds were dancing. Secondly, Jonathan Gold’s glowing review of the onion soup definitely did it justice. Not too salty, but very hearty, with a perfect glob of gruyère waiting to be devoured at the bottom of the bowl. We also shared a side — duck confit mac & cheese. The slices of duck were perfectly roasted, sitting in a warm bed of macaroni, and the ample cheese never felt overbearing. For my main dish, I got the Scottish salmon. The sweet-tart tomato fondue complemented the fish really well — crispy and browned on top and silky in the center. Mmmm… And en fin, we finished with a crème brûlée, which was also excellent! The service was overall really friendly, but our waitress gave us some ‘tude when three of my friends ordered the soup as their entrée(we also ate the cheeses and the mac & cheese, so it was a good portion). Regardless. The ambiance is warmly-lit, with simple black and white décor. Great place for a birthday dinner, a gathering with friends, or a romantic rendezvous. Can’t wait to go back!
