Pretty great place to eat, juicy hamburgers, grass fed meat options and the men said the Patty Melt was amazing. Fun old Hollywood diner atmosphere!

For a 3am breakfast run the food was pretty decent. It has a cool 50s style theme with jukeboxes at each table. Service is average. Overall, no complaints. I would go again

Mac n Cheese waren kalt. Cola bestellt und warten müssen bis das Essen kommt, obwohl alle Kellner nichts zu tun hatten. Auch waren die Mac n Cheese geschmacklich nicht mehr so wie beim letzten Besuch.

Ah, I remember when this used to be the«Rock n Roll Denny’s». Nostalgia aside, I must say I prefer Mel’s miles over Denny’s for food, service, and ambiance. I’ve been here several times over the years(always between the hours of 12am — 4am) and the servers are always so friendly, I don’t know how they do it. The food is just OK, but honestly, considering they’re open all night I have to given them a weighted rating. Lots of good greasy options to soak up all the alcohol and toxins. I like the 1950s ambiance as well – it’s done well and makes it seem a little classy, even if their patrons are not very. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Reliable late night hang on the Sunset Strip.

I ordered using grubHub yesterday(Thanksgiving Day) b/c I didn’t cook for the holiday(first time ever I didn’t cook & the last time I’ll EVER order out for a holiday if I can prevent it at all costs). The order was messed up between missing items & even missing gravy on one entire meal! We ordered the Homemade Turkey Dinner(3 of them). I’m writing this b/c the order was such a trainwreck & it was the fault of Mel’s Diner & when I called over there the manager was of NO help telling me he was«too busy», my driver should have double checked the order & I needed to call grubHub & in a nutshell this guy passed the buck & blamed both the driver & grubHub as a company. 100% unprofessional, condescending(calling me ‘sweetheart/honey’ when he became irritated with me b/c I stated it was his restaurant’s fault &NOT grubHub or their driver) & he offered me no help whatsoever besides telling me to call grubHub. This was our Thanksgiving dinner, Mel’s Diner did NOTHING to even remotely try to rectify the situation especially given it was THEIR fault. Even if the driver wanted to check the food it was packaged up in foil containers with foil tops so what did this ‘manager’ expect? For the driver to open up each & every container after un-bagging it? At the end of the day if you want Mel’s Drive-In(Diner) food order from the location on Highland. They are FAR more professional, caring & trying to help in any way they can. How do I know? Because I called them first by accident & the manager at that location was ready/willing to help only I had ordered from the one on Sunset… grubHub did give me a partial refund & help me but after this experience with this location on Sunset I’ll NEVER go there or order from them again.

Good ‘ol Mel’s! This is the original I believe. I used to come here after concerts at The Roxy or The Whiskey, or House of Blues, Troubadour. My recent trip brought back a lot of memories. I ordered a garden burger. It came with sprouts, which I love! I ordered it with cheddar cheese, it was delicious! My friend ordered a regular cheeseburger and she liked hers as well. We easily found parking but it was a Thursday night so it wasn’t too busy. I love the Sunset strip and I love Mel’s!

My favorite late night place on the heart of the sunset strip. The service is always good here no matter what time you come. I love the fact you have a great late night menu. The food is always fresh and tasty. if you are coming here with small groups or large groups you will enjoy your dinning experience. They have great salads from house to Cesar salad. I highly recommend the turkey burger that is outstanding. Also the have roasted chicken was excellent. The vanilla or the chocolate shakes are a must. Leave room for deserts. As they one of the best pies in town. I highly recommenced the apple pie or the boyseberry with vanilla ice cream.

Came here a few times during the last few weeks. They either have valet or free parking depends on the day and time you are coming. Service is super fast. I only tried the breakfast(egg whites) and it was affordable and very light! I’d come here again especially for a breakfast meeting or perhaps a late night snack!

My experience at 2 am Sunday morning was good considering that they were understaffed and had a crowd. Our waitress was quick on her feet, & even though she was running all over the place was still very polite and friendly. AMAZING From what we ordered the most amazing thing was the fresh banana and strawberry milk shake! It has chunks of fresh fruit inside with scoops of non melted ice cream. SOGOOD! If you are sharing, have them split it into two. They will do this for no extra charge. Their homemade chicken noodle soup was also really good, along with the braised short rib melt. Get the twisted fries instead of the regular fries with your sandwich! BLAH I Didn’t care too much for my bacon avocado burger. The meat wasn’t seasoned enough and the avocado was mushy. And unfortunately there ranch is not good. Each entre is around $ 11 – 15& the smoothies are $ 10, bit pricey. 4-Stars for that banana milk shake I cant stop thinking about.

In our fast chaning times, it is always good to know, there are places that last throughout the times. At least until now. One of these places is Mel’s. LAthoug it did change over time, you can still get some nice food in the diner, listen to some old hits on the jukebox and watch whatever strange things or people pass by on the street… this is West Hollywood after all, it’s hard to find anyplace stranger than this.

It is a rare occurrence when I am completely unsatisfied with a dining experience, but Mel’s has certainly filled that gap this year. We sat outside in the cold asking the staff to turn on the heaters. Either they lied to us that they were on(which they were not) or they kept forgetting to turn them on. Our waitress was a bit rude to us and kept rushing us to order. There was a time when we didn’t know what to order yet, so they simply just forgot about our table. When we were finally ready to order, it was hard to flag our waitress down. We even had to tell some staff member to serve a man at his table who was waiting for at least 25 minutes before being served water /helped. After 15 more minutes of no service, he just got up and left. With the food we were about to receive, it would have been wise if we had just gotten up and left as well. We had ordered about $ 45 worth of food for 2 people(such a waste of money). The dishes are not cheap — milkshakes turned malts are about $ 8! Way too expensive for a malt even if that is what they are known for. We ordered the mozzarella sticks + veggie burger + Belgium waffles. Strictly based on the quality of food, I was not pleased one bit. I could have made every single dish myself at home. The mozzarella sticks tasted like pre-packaged microwavable sticks. The veggie burger was dry and not tasty one bit. The waffles were made of bland, cheap batter. They were taste-less and just plain bad. After telling the restaurant about our bad experience, they did nothing about it. Overall experience was just terrible. I will not be coming back here again nor will I be recommending it to others.

Looking for a throwback on Sunset? This is your jam. My girlfriend and I grabbed a booth and enjoyed some milkshakes. They were thick and delicious. But more than $ 7 each? Yowza. That hurts.(Remember in Pulp Fiction when John Travolta lost his mind because a milkshake was $ 5? Times are a-changin’.) The people-watching here is incredible. I saw a family in the next booth order what appeared to be a steakhouse-sized meal. Like, the woman ordered a full rack of ribs, while her husband(?) ordered a steak. They drank REDWINE at a drive-in. Hollywood is full of weirdos. The place plays lots of old doo-wop songs, and there is a fun nostalgia factor here. I wouldn’t make this a destination for dining, but for desserts and people-watching, Mel’s hits the spot.

Mel’s is your go-to place when you are craving burgers and milkshakes at 3am in the morning. That’s why my husband and I chose it after a night of galavanting on the sunset strip! It wasn’t such a cold night after all the sweaty clubs, so we chose to sit outside. What I thought was cute was the outdoor chairs were director chairs! We ordered the slider trio: 1 original — beef patty with garlic aioli, 1 braised short rib, and 1 turkey party with goat cheese. Very yummy. If you add fries, it’s an additional $ 2, but if not, it’s $ 12 by itself. It was yummy and service was fine, but I’m not a big fan of Mel’s. It’s just generic food, but we were hungry and wanted something greasy so there ya go.

This is your everyday diner grub with burgers, steaks, chicken, macaroni cheese and all that jazz. The interiors have that 50’s nostalgia design and like many other grub joints around these parts there are old photos on the walls of celebrities that once, presumably, visited the establishment. Food is good but not great. I had two sliders — one with a regular burger patty and one with pulled pork. They were okay, anything good I have to say about them is most likely a testament to how hungry I was at the time. The twisty fries were alright and the milkshake(which I had been told was extraordinary) was not memorable at all. It was nice to be served the milkshake«leftovers» in a separate cup though. If you live or stay at a hotel nearby, this is a suitable place to go fill your empty stomach, but don’t expect too much.

RUUUUUDE staff! Omg! Ordered delivery here over the weekend with special instructions emphasized on two different parts of the checkout and they ignored everything! Then when I called to complain they passed the responsibility off on the third party(who was very helpful and NOT to blame) then persisted to argue with me, eventually putting me on hold and finally hanging up on me! Let me add that the guy I dealt with sounded like he just got done smoking out in the parking lot and was half asleep. Almost a joke if I wasn’t so pissed. I ended up passing the wrong order off on my dog, who was the only one happy with the order. Needless to say, I won’t be ordering from them again. The only reason I gave them two stars and not one, was because my dog seemed so satisfied!

2015 Unilocal100CHALLENGE — 053⁄100 Came to this Mel’s for the first time last week with a few new friends of mine. We just got out of a concert and wanted a late night post-concert meal from a place that was still open around midnight. Mel’s was pretty close by on the Sunset Strip, so we came here! I loved that they had a parking lot. There aren’t many places on Sunset that have 1) their own parking lot, and 2) a FREE parking lot. WINWIN for me! We came around midnight on a Tuesday night and it wasn’t busy at all, which was great. We had an awesome server who was nice and funny and pretty attentive. I’ve also been to the Mel’s Diner on Ventura in Sherman Oaks, and I definitely think this one is nicer than that one. That one felt really run down and dilapidated. This location is obvsly on the older side too, but I think they take better care of it because it is on Sunset and probably is visited more frequently. Food was really great. I normally don’t think much of diner food… but I really enjoyed the cheeseburger I got from here! It was cooked perfectly and everything I wanted. I also got a side of sweet potato fries which were really delicious as well. Food was relatively inexpensive as well. Overall, I am a fan of this Mel’s Diner! This may be my new go-to for post-concert munchies.

Stepping through these doors is like stepping into another world. Linoleum counter tops and gleaming metal cooking equipment adorn the open kitchen. Yesteryear rock musician and movie star images plaster the walls. Coin operated jukeboxes at the counter seats offer music that my own parents are probably too young to know. The staff all wear crisp white uniforms like in the diners of post world war II America. I had the vegetarian omelette. The texture of the squash, asparagus, mushrooms and broccoli felt just right, soft without tasting mushy but cooked just right to snap when you bite into it. The eggs were thick and fluffy. The potatoes had a nice crispy finish with bacon crumbs mixed in. My plate came garnished with sliced orange and parsley to add color and contrast. While I could have had a similar omelette in my neighborhood for half the price, the presentation of Mel’s food certainly make it worth the money. I loved the coffee. I’m not a fan of Starbucks, Seattle’s Best, Intelligentsia or Klatch Coffee because I like my coffee smooth and light, not dark and strong. The coffee at Mel’s dazzled my taste buds like no other. Nonfat milk and natural brown sugar made it the perfect brew. Sure, it did NOT help wake me up but it made for an awesome beverage to accompany breakfast. An omelette with coffee cost me $ 20 even. Mel’s Drive In may be seriously expensive but it is worth it.

Thrilled to be back in LA and at this breakfast destination! It has a totally chill Hollywood vibe when you visit the Sunset Blvd locale. Moving back from NYC recently, this place is as good, if not better, than any diner I frequented there. I had a delicious ham steak with eggs. We also shared some gooey cheese fries too, and the boo had chicken noodle soup. Love this place!
