This place is a nice little nook off of Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood. Very impressed with the menu for such a little place(I think I saw two tables in there.) I got a cold wrap with grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, egg whites and avocado. Can’t say it’s a combination I’ve had before, but it was actually great. They also serve a nice selection of coffee and tea drinks. The service was a little slow, hence the four stars, but the food is solid. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in WeHo and in the market for a new place to try for breakfast/lunch.

Shoop’s has some delicious sandwiches, and they used to be extremely vegan-friendly. We went there today, though, and they said they don’t carry vegan bread, so the sandwiches aren’t and can’t be vegan. This was odd since one of the sandwiches specifically had vegan mayo and the menu specified that. Hopefully they were just misinformed, but for the time being, no more Shoop’s for me. UPDATE: See below for the owner’s reply! The staffer just wasn’t fully informed. There are several vegan bread options still.

Cute restaurant and seating area out front. Their front fences are covered with jasmine which was also pleasant. The menu makes it easy to spot vegetarian an vegan options. Also their BBQ tofu yam wrap was delicious! Not to mention the friendly and fast service.

Ok, after reading all the fabulous reviews here, I have decided that I need to return, maybe try something different, and eat at the restaurant. This review is based on a take-out lunch I had. It was good, but not great. Just OK. I had the Lean Wrap which was nice and fresh and made with some good hummus, but unfortunately I was a bit put off by the fact that the whole thing was wet. Not sure if it was from the hummus(I think it was…) but semi-soggy isn’t the best condition for a wrap. Maybe it wouldn’t have been so wet had I ate it there? (A friend got the body wrap and said that it, too, was wet. He thinks from the eggs. Again, wet wrap = no bueno) Also, it came with a side of fruit which was nice, but the fruit didn’t seem to fresh. It was very mediocre pineapple, cantaloupe, and grapes. I didn’t necessarily dislike any of the food, I just wasn’t overly impressed. I guess I need to give it a second chance.

After a hard morning workout I was starving, so I hopped on Unilocal & looked up sandwich shops in my neighborhood. The first one to pop up(based on rating) was Shoop’s. Man, I am sooo glad I looked it up, it was amazing! I got there & walked in to a small little place joined with a market. I figured this was the right place after reading the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised to be led next door by a very very nice man(maybe the owner?) to their newly opened space. It was wonderful. Off the street, lots of outdoor space(and some inside too), trees, clean, and the service was amazing! Nicest people ever! And it is doggie friendly(yey!) The food was AMAZING! I loved all the vegan & veggie options! Who knew a vegan could find such wonderful options at a deli?! My bf(a meat eater) also found many many meaty options. I settled on the vege which had spinach, basil, roasted peppers, cucumber & soy mayo on an absolutely delicious baguette. My bf had the cleveland & loved it. He also mentioned how great the bread was. I am completely sold! Definitely worth the ¾ mile walk, but there’s also plenty of free parking in case I don’t feel like walking! This place is amazing, I hope they do as well in WeHo as they have done in Santa Monica!

Living just a few blocks away, all I’ve got to say is… how did i not know about this place until now?! HOW!!! Located just off the intersection of Santa Monica & Fairfax, this is as good of a sandwich shop in the area that you’ll find. Business must be good too because they just opened up a sister shop/café right next door that’s exclusively meant for their sandwiches & beverages(until recently, they used to serve up their sandwiches out of the market/bakery which is still opened for business). So there’s plenty of seating now even if parking is still a tough one to manage. If you can walk, you should. So thanks to previous reviews, I knew I had to try the«clevelander» sandwich first, although there’s like ten other sandwiches and wraps that sound just as delicious(and ones that i’ll definitely return to try if the clevelander is any indication of the quality of their food). This sandwich is sort of a hybrid-Ruben-meets-hot pastrami that is topped off with homemade sauerkraut. Folks, all i’ve got to say is that it’s heaven on brioche. A must try. FYI: although i’ll never sacrifice my carnivore ways, for those of you in need, this place offers MANY vegan options/substitutions. This is Los Angeles, after all. Finally, for me, service is always just as important as the food. It can make or break your dining experience no matter how good the food. The service on our visit was OUTSTANDING. «Friendly and tending to your needs» hardly does them justice. The potato salad is the BOMB(warm and concocted in some savory sweet mustard sauce). The woman behind the counter happened to hear me tell my friend that i wish i would’ve gotten that as my side(after tasting it) instead of the coleslaw. Upon hearing this, she served me a side of the potato salad at NO charge. Then they happened to put out some fresh baked scones from the bakery while we were eating and got served a complimentary round scones too. She offered us some complimentary coffee later on too which we declined because it started to feel like we were taking advantage of them. Do yourself a favor, and go… like yesterday.

This unassuming little neighbourhood spot is absolutely wonderful on so many levels I don’t know where to begin. The variety of sandwiches will suit any palette from vegetarian, vegan or carnivore — if it’s still on the menu I highly recommend the salmon sandwich. Decidedly delicious. My favourite part is the attached little grocery market where you can find an amazing array of European goodies from chocolates to meats and cheeses. I don’t know what the Dutch connection is but it’s the only place in town I can find de Ruijter hagelslag, REAL Dutch licorice drop, Calvé peanut spread and other goodies from the Netherlands. If they only carried Calvé mayonnaise and Conimex Pinda Satesaus I’d be in heaven. But — this is close enough. Well done Shoops!

Used to go here for lunch when I worked near WeHo. Nice quaint place and a lot of interesting snacks and stuff. Friendly people and reasonably quick service. The salmon sandwich was very good, about $ 9. Unfortunately, one day I got a very bad tasting salami — SOMUCHMUSTARD. I needed the fruit salad so badly to wash it out that I ate it in about a minute.

This is the first real review I’ve ever written on Unilocal and what better place to start then this hidden West Hollywood gem. Let me preface this by saying I love sandwiches. Like I catch myself slipping into day dreams about sandwiches more than I’d like to admit. LA isn’t the most well known place for a good sandwich, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have them. You have to do a little searching, but every now and then you come up on a mecca like Shoop’s. I went there for the first time a few months ago as a vegetarian. I have since converted to the dark side. Even now, as a rampant carnivore, I find myself ordering the Smoked Soy Turkey sandwich because it is unreal. Like if it came from an animal, that magical animal would be able to fly, time travel, and potentially grant wishes. Everything is so fresh and the bread, oh my god, the bread should have support groups based around people’s addiction to this stuff. I would consider getting a bread-on-bread sandwich from this place if everything else wasn’t equally as good. Other notable sandwiches for me: the white albacore tuna, The Clevelander(their«famous» one), and The Ranger. In addition to their wonderful deli, the shop side that’s filled with all sorts of European delights(candy, chips, soda, etc) is a great bonus. Every time I bring a new friend into this place, they freak out over some item there that they can’t find anywhere else. The owner, Matt, is one of the nicest and most inviting people I have encountered at any restaurant. He is genuinely excited over whatever you order and for good reason! He knows he’s hooking your life up. I love love love this place and will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good sandwich. Can’t wait for the café to open next door.

I once had a review about this place and now its gone, but I’ll give it another go. I love Shoop’s deli, love Matt and his wife and particularly love the square Canadian salami that you can cajole him to put into a sando. Generally come here for the sandwiches, in particular the«reuben-like-clevelander», the club, or the aforementioned salami sandwich but on the rare occasion I crave the liverwurst in honor of my old college roomy, that is actually pretty good too. If you like novel german chocolates with kids games, you can get those here too. The breakfast is also worthwhile, but not as good as the sandwiches so I rarely make that happen. I want to love the german style potato salad, but highly recommend it to those who do. I prefer the mild slaw, but you might as well go healthy and hit the fruit salad.

I was walking to the post office on Fairfax last week and was feeling a grumbly in my tumbly. One thing I used to love before moving to LA was a good bakery or deli sandwich, unfortunately I don’t know of many places within walking distance of my apt for this… that is until I stumbled upon Shoop’s. I recognized the name from Unilocal and didn’t realize how close to me it’s located! I overheard the lady running the show that they’re going to be expanding into next door, so I’ll be looking forward to that because with 5 people in there already to eat it was already pretty crammed. I forgot the name of the thing I ordered. It was on the vegan menu though and I got it without sprout or roasted peppers(because I’m not a fan of either) so it had avocado, vegenaise and tofu inside and I requested a deli mustard as well and got it as a wrap. Personally, I prefer a more straight-forward, old fashioned approach to my sandwiches. I didn’t see any vegan sandwiches coming with just lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onion, vegenaise, and mustard. Something like that would be appreciated, if anyone with any pull is reading this, haha! The wrap came with way too much vegenaise on it, which was delicious, but not very healthy… so I’ll have to remember to request less in the future. BUT, the tofu… ohhhh mannnn the tofuuuuu… was prepared so well. I’m pretty particular about tofu sandwiches and the ways they are prepared, soooo many places don’t know how to do it right and I’m happy to report that this was not the case! I will gladly return to Shoop’s for a tofu wrap any day! Oh! And not to forget to mention, the little shop they have next to the deli counter is great. They sell Hob Nobs, my favorite English biscuit! I’m going to have to return for some of those!

Ive been wanting to try this place for a while now I love sandwiches. I came with two other friends got a clevleander, ranger and roast beef and cheddar. I know everyone says they love the clevelander but all three of us weren’t wild about it. LOVED the other two particularly the ranger. Great bread. I love the little shop next door HELLO candy! i love candy. I think I may have squealed in delight over the wall of haribo gummies. I used to date a Swedish guy and found lot of stuff he used to get sent from Sweden. Krispbread, danish salted licorice. The lady who works there is also super helpful and nice. A great find!

I have officially become a Shoop’s addict. They have ruined salmon for me! I can’t eat salmon anyplace but Shoop’s now!(The Ashley’s salmon wrap is the best wrap in the universe and I’m a sandwich girl but now I keep going back for this wrap!!!) Also got some Dark chocolate nutella in the deli/bodega.

Shoop’s is a rock solid establishment. First, it’s convenient being walking distance from my apartment. Second, it’s got a pretty decent sandwich/salad selection. Third, it carries Have’A Chips. I got the house salad/half sandwich combo. The salad was really bland, but the croutons were a nice touch. I was expecting the sandwich to be bland as well, but the tuna had a lot of flavor and the baguette was breadtastic. I would have rated the whole eating experience a 3 star, but the lovely woman behind the counter was so personable and chatty(a welcomed chatty), she knocks it up a star(as does their selection of European snacks and ingredients).

Ya know it’s a family affair Alli works the counter during the week and her mother Natalie works the weekend and even Lana the Godmother sometimes works the week ends also met Matt he was working the counter. Can’t wait ’till they open the café next door! I’ll bet it will be um, um good!
