I wanted to add a few things now that my wedding is done and I have a few pictures to post. First of all, the week before my wedding I asked Marcia to do some major renovations to the dress and she was spectacular! I could not believe she could turn it around so quickly. The dress photographed beautifully and the color turned out so amazing against our backdrop. I also wanted to add that I asked her to make a pocket scarf for my husband which she made to my specifications and it turned out perfect! I still can’t believe all the work she puts in to make sure you truly love everything about your dress and doesn’t charge anything extra for alterations… Marcia, I bow down to your expertise, speed and superior drive to please your customers no matter if its months before the wedding or days!

I brought a wedding dress from a discount dress store with the full intent of changing the top part. After calling around and being told by many other alteration places that they couldn’t have the dress ready in time, I finally found Marcia.
I was planning on eloping and needed the dress ready in about two months. She made my dress so beautiful and had enough time to make a veil! She was my angel! Very reasonable price. Everybody loved my dress, especially my husband. She completely understood the look I wanted and even suggested adding little beads. It’s the details people! Lol I plan on going back for a bridesmaid dress I need altered for my brothers wedding.

Marcia is a godsend. Her talents are incredible, and her pricing is more than fair. If you’re looking for someone to make or alter a dress for you, be happy to know you’ve found the right person. (hooray!)
I searched around for awhile and had a few meetings in person with a few designers in order to find someone to make my wedding gown. Marcia was my last meeting of the day, and I immediately knew she was the best choice.
She made my custom gown from scratch– we developed a design together, she helped me get all the necessary materials, and I had multiple fittings to make sure everything looked right along the way. I was THRILLED with the results. Marcia understood the style I wanted from the beginning, and her professionalism shows at every step.

I have been meaning to write this review for almost a year. Marcia is a wonderfully gifted person and i wish i knew about her talents sooner.
I bought an off the rack dress for my wedding and due to some weightloss needed alterations as the dress just hung on my body. Not flattering.
Marcia altered my gown in all the right places and the dress fit like a glove! My off the rack gown became one of a kind and I felt beautiful on my big day.
I highly recommend Marcia’s services. Her work speaks for itself. You will not be dissapointed!

She did a wonderful job altering a bridesmaid dress for me. Very professional, flexible when my work obligations got in the way of an appointment, and reasonable rates!

I was looking for somebody to make my prom dress last month, and I was about to give up, and then I found Marcia — stop your searching now and go to Marcia!
She is an absolute dream to work with and is super fun! She absolutely knows how to accentuate your best features and her work is of such high quality; I don’t see why celebrities don’t hire her to make their dresses for red carpets.
I showed her a picture of a wedding dress that I really liked, but wanted altered so it was more prom appropriate. It was about $ 7000 made from the original designer, but Marcia made it SO much affordable and so spot on to the original (but a lot better might I add). She is honestly heaven sent omg
She is very funny and very warm and will definitely cater to your needs, whatever they may be. She will make suggestions for accessories and go the extra mile for you, picking out fabrics and adding in her own personal fairy godmother touches.
You can definitely tell Marcia has passion with what she does and it shows in her work, which is the most important to me.

Marcia is my wedding dress hero and I’m beyond grateful for her amazing talents and her willingness to help save my day (and dress!) when I was in a bind. My shit-​hit-​the-​fan wedding moment came a week and a half before my wedding in the dress department. I had my «wedding gown» made for me by another esteemed designer and discovered at my final fitting that the silk/​satin material was completely see-​through (and couldn’t be lined). There I was, 11 days out, back at square one in some serious crunch time. I immediately went to BHLDN to buy something ready made and hope that there was SOMEONE who could help me fix it up in a few places. I found Marcia on Unilocal due to her positive reviews and contacted her right away — she agreed to take on the project and get me the dress in time! WOO-​HOO! After the dress arrived (which was just a week before our wedding), I rushed to Inglewood (yes, she’s now located in Inglewood which was a bit of a surprise but totally worth the trek). I parked easily on the street and went inside Marcia’s house. Marcia is lovely, kind, hard-​working, empathetic and certainly talented. I immediately felt like I was in great hands. I put on the dress and she instantly knew what to do. 3 fittings in the period of a week later, and I had a dress that looked like it was made for me. Marcia, you are fantastic. I found the Rio Collection thru Unilocal and was attracted to the 5 star rating. Reviewers raved about Marcia and her excellent work and fair prices. I am so glad I listened!
I had been terrified to alter the Vera Wang gown I ordered from a sample sale after hearing nightmare stories from friends (and on Unilocal reviews of less fabulous tailors) but was put at ease once I met Marcia.
She did major alterations on my dress and helped custom make a sash for me after I couldn’t find what I wanted in stores. 5 stars for great work, great pricing, and the 5 star treatment!

Marcia did a great job helping choose and design the perfect wedding dress for me! I just loved it. She is a really good tailor and have years of experience.
She doesn’t have the best organize system or calendar so make sure you tell her everything you are expecting and she will know how to help you out.

Marcia is a genius! She made my wedding dress — which was not an easy dress to make, mind you, requiring a lot of very sharp tailoring — and it was PERFECTION. Working with her was a breeze: her personality is great, she knows everything and she met with me enough times to make sure that everything I dreamed of in the dress came to life.
Marcia’s prices were very reasonable, and a steal for the level of service and design she brings to the table. She is also both knowledgeable and willing to work with input. I was involved in the process the entire time. I went with her to the fabric store to pick the dress material to insure that I loved it and that the quality and price were great. I showed her several pictures for inspiration and we discussed elements of the dress together, and all in all it was the best experience I could have asked for.
I can’t recommend her work highly enough!

Marcia is wonderful. Her work is perfection, and her speedy is amazing. I’m just really happy to have found her. I provided her a picture of the dress and she was able to re-​create it without much more guidance. We went through several rounds of fitting and she was very thorough about everything.
We went shopping together for the fabric and she provided great advice and opinion on the style/​fabric that should be used. Overall, she’s just a great seamstress with a great eye for details. Thank you Marcia!

Can’t say anything but great things about Marcia. She made a bridesmaid dress for me in 2010 and in 2013 she made my wedding dress. Even though I was 5 months pregnant, Marcia made me look beautiful. She did everything I asked for, and even took the time to find the best material out there. The prices she charges are very reasonable too, considering you are having a dress made uniquely for you. I would recommend anyone use Marcia who is looking to stand out, or has a special dress in mind!

Had Marcia do my dress for my wedding. It was such great quality… fully lined, attention to detail (where they button up the back having fabric so skin doesn’t show through the buttons) etc… Absolutely perfect! Loved it

I contacted Marcia when I was unable to find a wedding dress to suit my tastes. I provided her with a picture, and she provided me with the most beautiful dress ever! Her work was outstanding. She performs her work excellently and with extreme professionalism. I got so many compliments on my dress — it was perfect! Thank you, Marcia, for making me the wedding dress of my dreams!
As a side note, her pricing was extremely reasonable, and meeting times were quite flexible. She is very willing to work with you to ensure you get the dress that YOU want! She even picked out the fabric and sent me pictures so that I could be involved with the process without having to travel long distances to meet with her.

Marcia was an absolute god send. I felt so overwhelmed trying to find someone to make my dream wedding gown. When I found Marcia everything just clicked. She is the sweetest woman to work with and is talented beyond belief. She even went with me to pick out the fabric for my gown. I really could not be happier with my wedding dress. I have never written a review for anything, but felt compelled to write one for The Rio Collection. I have now had two articles of clothing made by Marcia the woman behind The Rio Collection. She is a perfectionist and is not satisfied until the clothing meets her high standards of fit and design. I recently had both a dress and a skirt made. The skirt was a copy of my favorite store-​bought item that had fallen apart from too much wear. Marcia recreated the skirt to perfection, so I can continue to wear my favorite piece for years to come. From couture to casual, Marcia is the only one I would trust to make my clothing. Thank you Marcia.

Marcia, the dressmaker behind Rio Collection, is actually the reason I joined Unilocal!today– I just left a fitting with her for my engagement dress and was so thrilled with the gown she’s made for me that I felt like I needed to tell the whole world about her!
I’ve had dresses made by several seamstresses in the past and while I thought at the time that they were good, I’ve realized after having worked with Marcia what having a great dressmaker is like.
Not only is she great at what she does (she actually made a whole trial version of the dress I’ve ordered to fit me in before cutting the real fabric I had given her for the dress), but she’s incredibly sweet to work with, has very reasonable prices, and has a great eye for what’ll patterns and styles will look good on her customers.
If I could give her 6 stars I would. I can’t imagine ever taking a dress to be made anywhere else!
