Training Mate

I don’t remember the last time I wrote a Unilocal review and I echo what all the other reviews have said. An amazing workout with amazing people. Luke and Kane made me feel like a million bucks the whole time. I’m on ClassPass and I’ll 100% be back for more.
I did the Mighty Mate class and worked my ass off. It was great. Can’t wait to try Bondi Burn and Thunder Down Under.
Luke is an incredible trainer. I haven’t experienced anything like this in LA. Welcoming, motivating and they kick your ass. All wins in my book!

Found this place on Class Pass and absolutely LOVE it! All the instructors and workers here are so friendly and high energy and it’s nice to be able to have such great motivation and good humor when you’re having your ass handed to you during a workout. I like that they have different classes each day of the week that focus on either full body, lower body, upper body, etc. One of the things I love most about this place is that it is one of the most welcoming, fun, motivating, and NON PRETENTIOUS training facilities, which in Weho is rare sometimes. Of all the circuit training places I’ve been too this one is by far the best. Parking is easy as I park in the lot behind the studio for $ 1/​hour. The facility is clean and fun and you will get in an awesome workout. highly recommend! I will more than likely will need to buy a package in the next few weeks cause 3 classes a month on Class Pass is just not enough.

This place is great. I found this place through class pass and they stole my heart. All the mates are so motivating and informative. (I do have have faves… Luke and Edwina.) You will want to work your ass off and you will love every 45 seconds of it. I recently gave up class pass and I am all TM. I’ve seen a ton of change in my body and look forward to going to class. They make you feel a part of the family AND everyone that works out there is super friendly and supportive.
110% recommend trying Training Mate. You’ll get hooked!

Training mate is hands down the greatest place to train, the range of workouts is fantastic so you’ll never be bored as everyday is different.
For someone who hated working out in the past, training mate has completely changed my mind that exercise has to be hard work. All the trainers make it so fun, that you’ll never want to leave!

This place is just one word: amazing. I love all the staff, they are so professional and friendly. I had so much fun with Edwina, Moty and the owner Luke Milton is the best person I ever have met in my life, he is so passionate and genuine. I recommend this place to everyone. Best best best training ever.

I just love this place. It’s the first studio on ClassPass that I will probably purchase additional classes for, because 3 a month is just not enough. I typically come for the Bondi Burn (upper body) class, but have done Mighty Mate a few times as well. It’s just a fun, upbeat, but intense workout. People of every size, shape, and age are in every class and it’s a fantastic judgement-​free zone.
I would note that it may not be a great spot for people who are brand new to working out — there’s a lot going on in each class and instructors can’t always correct every single person’s form. But if you’re semi-​familiar with basic workouts, you’re in for a treat!

The most fun you’ll ever have while burning fat! Tried Sydney Circuit with Luke today, and he’s hilarious and full of energy. So worth it driving almost 20 miles to try out this place. Can’t wait to go back to try the Mighty Mate next time!

I LOVE the Training Mate!!! I always use all 3 of my passes at Training Mate (I’m a classpass holder) and I’m always waiting for my new cycle to start so I can get back to the Training Mate. I really love the Mighty Mate classes, which are a full body workout with several stations. I also really love the Bondi Burn, which is all upper body. I never thought I would be into circuit training until I discovered the Training Mate.
Luke is my favorite instructor… he’s so funny, energetic, motivating, and did I mention funny??? He makes the class fly by with all his silly jokes-​I love it. Each class ends with some ab work outside which is a nice way to finish up all that circuit training.
Training Mate is a really welcoming place where you feel comfortable to push yourself out of your comfort zone and see results! I highly recommend it. The only class I have yet to try there is the Sydney Circuit-​because it’s weekends only and those fill up fast.
The only downside to Training Mate is the timing of the classes. I wish there were more evening classes during the week-​who can work out at 12:00 on a Tuesday? Does no one in LA work? :p

I love going to training mate! I found this studio using the class pass app. Not only is the facility clean and spacious, it is walking distance from my apartment! I would come here more often if I wasn’t subject to 3 classes per month! All instructors are hilarious and lovely! The classes focus on a tabata style workout (3 stations with 3 exercises at each station). You run through each station 3 times then switch stations. I am a big fan! Only downside is parking and overcrowded classes. I love this studio and would suggest it to anyone.

More of a 3.5…but who is really counting right?
I like coming here for Bondi Burn (upper body)! Typical circuit training/​hiit style classes which I like! Good variety and I do break a sweat (then again… I really feel like I sweat an abnormal amount haha). I’m surprised at how many people they are able to pack in a class and yet I don’t feel stuffy or like there’s a lack of space.
Ab workout at the end which I actually really enjoy b/​c it’s not just a 5min thought. You still have to work for that burn!
I personally would be okay if the instructor was aloof/​not super outgoing but Edwina is really charismatic and really motivates me to work harder. Also her body is SICK so you know she’s going to kick your butt.
Parking is kinda hard in this area but I mean… I just park at wholefoods: P

I really like going to the Mighty Mate class here, which is a fast-​paced, full body workout! This class is interval training, so the class is divided up into 8 — 10 stations, where you do each activity for 1 minute… it’s things like running, rowing, cycling, chin ups, various activities involving weights and medicine balls. So, you go through the entire series, have a brief rest period, then you do the entire thing again… and again. 3 times total. The class then ends with 5 — 10 minutes of ab exercises that everyone does together!
This class is challenging, but it definitely caters to people with different ability levels (for example, if you are like me and can’t do official chin ups, you have the option of doing then with the help of a giant rubber band that you put your foot in OR you can simply use the TRX straps and do rows instead).
I do like working in the 1 minute intervals, because really, you can do anything for a minute!!! :-D
The staff here are all very cheerful and high energy and they really go out of their way to encourage each individual in the class!

The Mighty Mate class is the only one I have taken here, I like it so much I haven’t even tried the other ones they offer, but I’m sure they’re good too.
Mighty Mate is a full body circuit training class, where you rotate through stations 3 times for one minute each. You workout all your main muscle groups, and then go out back to do abs for few minutes.
I only go to the 6pm classes, but I have never had any trouble finding a metered spot on the street.
Plus, Iove how all the trainers are Australians, hot accents!

So… I remember hearing somewhere (I can’t recall if it was Maury Povich or Ricki Lake… or maybe Oprah) about how strippers are usually the friendliest to the nerdiest guy in the club because they know he’s an easy mark and will most likely not receive any female attention outside in the real world. This is how I feel at Training Mate: like the nerdy guy in the strip club. Seriously, everyone from the front desk associates to the trainers to the owner are genuinely happy to see me, or just very good at acting like it.
Through the magic of ClassPass, I’m able to sample many gyms and from my first workout, I knew this one was going to be on my regular schedule. It’s a great workout, and my shirt is absolutely drenched in sweat after every class — something that has been pointed out by the instructors EVERY time in front of EVERYONE. But I like it ‘cuz it’s all in good fun! I also like that it’s more focused on bodyweight exercises as I have this thing called a male ego and I have a tendency to injure myself with the weights.
I’ve seen people here that could be the «before» and others the «after» model in a fitness magazine makeover story. Most of us are in between — and we are all equally welcome at Training Mate. I even had a celebrity check me out in the mirror. Truthfully, I think he was checking himself out, but my ego wants to believe it was me. And if he was checking me out, he was probably wondering how one person could sweat so much. But I’ll take it…

I was looking for something fun and motivating, workout wise, and I am so happy that I decided to stop into training mate that fateful afternoon. I just signed up for an entire month because I just wanted to throw myself into something new, and I can’t believe how amazing the experience has been.
I lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks and I have so much fun in each class. The instructors are really friendly and positive (Edwina is my fav) and there isn’t any screaming in your face like u r in a sports team (Thank God).
I am looking forward to going to future classes because I am loving how energized and how great I feel after each one.

So refreshing to have found a challenging workout with a community feel without the attitude and snobbery!
I’ve been here three times now and every time I’m really impressed by how welcoming the entire staff is from the moment you walk in the door. The instructors have great energy and are extremely motivating, which results in a great workout.
I’ve only done the Mighty Mate (total body) classes, but I have always left feeling like I got a complete workout. The station rotations and intervals as well as the various equipment really do make the time fly by. Additionally, the music is upbeat and the instructors are constantly coming around to help you out with your form (when needed) or just give high fives.
While there are definitely regulars here (and I am not one of them… yet), the environment is extremely inclusive. Instructors are just as friendly to their first timers as to their best friends.
The facilities are clean and well-​maintained. The backyard for abs/​stretching at the end of class is a great little spot as well.
I really don’t have a bad thing to say about the place. :)

I can’t say enough great things about this place… so much so that this is my first Unilocal review ever!
I have been an active member of class pass for the past couple month and have been to more LA gyms than I can count, but Training Mate completely stands alone. The second you walk in you are greeted by a friendly receptionist, forgot your hair tie? no problem because they have complementary hair ties, gum, mints, towels and anything else you could need before and after a workout out easily accessible to you.
I’ve mostly only taken their «Thunder Down Under» class and let me just say the instructor Edwina is a great big ball of Australian energy and motivation! She keeps you laughing (and sweating) the whole class and is totally engaged with her students the entire time.
The workout is always diverse and challenging, so much so that I think I’ve only done the same «move» in a rotation twice the entire 10 times I’ve been there. (The workout consists of 3 stations with 3 workouts at each that you rotate through 3 times per station) Right when you think the class is over you grab a yoga mat and head out to their cute little outdoor patio to take part in some of the most intense ab moves you’ll ever do and probably most you’ve never done before, but somehow you are able to laugh through it with Edwina’s entertaining personality and banter.
I could go on and on but just trust me– take this class, you’ll be converted to this fun and challenging Aussie style of working out and won’t look back.

This is the hardest workout you will laugh your way through. Absolutely intense and run by Aussies who know your name and when to give you the extra boost you need JUST when you need it.
There is Bondi Burn which is upper body, Thunder Down Under which is Lower body and Might Mate which is everything. Regardless of what workout you do, there are 3 main stations each with 3 intense exercises that you run through for 45 seconds each 3 times before moving on to the next station. There is a 2 minute break between each section and the class ends with abs on an outdoor patio (this is where the best jokes are told).
The studio is so welcoming and supportive that no matter what your fitness level, you will feel like a rockstar by the end. I have to thank Classpass for bringing me here and the Aussies for making me excited to go back every week!

Hot, Australian trainers motivating you to work out harder?
YES, PLEASE.
I rave about this place to all my friends because:
1. The trainers are definitely easy on the eyes and oh my gosh… the Australian accent.
2. It’s an amazing workout!
I will easily do 10 extra burpees when I’m working out at Training Mate because the trainers are attractive and motivating.

Training Mate is a great circuit training gym. They’ve got some intense HIIT with abs outside at the end.
I’ve been here twice, and both times, the trainers were very high energy. The owner (can’t remember his name) was great and the second time I came to this studio, Zach was great. He was motivational and made many WeHo appropriate jokes.
