Three times in a month. Yup. Because this is the best Thai I’ve had in Utah in YEARS. Grilled Pork — smoky, on a stick, tender, delicious. Waterfall Salad — tangy, lime-y, umami slices of beef mixed with onion, rice powder, vegetables, and brings on the heat! Massaman — creamy, balanced, drinkable perfection Pad Thai Noodles — The best in Utah, hands-down. Not too dry, not too wet, perfectly balanced tamarind, lime, palm sugar, fish sauce amazingness. Crab Fried Rice — just get it. You’ll thank me. Pad See Ew — sweet, garlic-y, steamy, delicious Everything we’ve tried was FAR above average. I almost don’t even want to post this review because they’re a small restaurant and I don’t want it to get crowded. I do, however, want them to stick around and we’ve got to support our mom and pop shops. Yeah, it’s awesome. Yeah, we love them. Go try it. See you there.

Best Thai food in Salt Lake! We tend to come at least once a month if not more and we are never disappointed. Our go-to food choices: beef and broccoli(amazing!) and the Massaman curry with chicken. You can’t go wrong with me either. The staff: AMAZING. Very attentive but not over bearing, honestly they are the best. They keep the tables clean as soon as someone leaves. You can’t go wrong here, definitely try it out!

LOVE this place! Affordable, delicious, friendly. We’ve had their restaurant and to-go service and tried almost everything on the menu. Love that it is family-run, authentic, spicy, and they can answer detailed questions about the menu. Best Thai I’ve found in the state!

Gray food for a low price for lunch! Yellow beef curry is what I had and would suggest getting!

When i see a place has 4.5 stars i expect a lot more than what I got from my visit to Red Basil. I started out with Jasmine tea. It came out lukewarm and they had no honey. Next we ordered chicken satay. This was very good and something I’d order again. Finally I ordered the shrimp pad thai. It was underwhelming at best. The shrimp was overcooked, the bean sprouts weren’t fresh, and the dish lacked flavor. If I’m in the mood for thai food I’ll likely be looking elsewhere.

Red basil Thai is a small business that provides authentic Thai food at a great price. I’ve tried most of the Thai food places in the state and this one is of the best. The owner Brandon his wife and mother in law are fantastic people and the service is always nice. The restaurant isn’t very large so it does feel crowded sometimes. Plenty of people come for the take out and more stay. I highly recommend that you try it. You’ll love it and so will your wallet.

We are new in the area and always looking new restaurants to try. Based on other reviews we ate there Saturday. The food was excellent! Our son just got home from college and enjoys Thai type food. The red curry with pumpkin was great my wife had tom kha and my son had tom yum. Service was prompt and attentive, we will definitely be back!

This place is excellent! Been here a few times and have loved everything I’ve tried. Curry is good and reasonably priced. Update. This place is AMAZING. Had the red curry with rice and it was delicious! Staff is attentive and amazing. They can always give you the best suggestions for your taste preference. Brandon has always steered me right!!! I’ll be coming here often!!!

This place was delicious! I had the fresh rolls and I really liked the peanut sauce they served with it. My number 4 heat was spicy enough for me and not trying to obnoxiously torch me mouth. I’ve always wondered if most places dumb down their heat for non Thai folk because I’ve never had a dish that was too hot but I think I’m just a glutton for heat. Try the mango and rice desert, I would have ever tried it if it wasn’t for my lady friend and it was gooood

The lunch specials($ 7.50) are a great deal; an entrée, choice of soup(the broth is incredible! Get the wonton soup!) and choice of a crispy treat. Chicken or tofu are the protein options. The Thai iced tea is good, the hot tea has free refills. Boba drinks are available. Service was fairly quick and definitely friendly. The food was pretty good, though the Padd King wasn’t very gingery or garlicky so that was a bummer. I wish I had tried the Phở being their broth was so yummy. The place was lovely, and a bit kitschy, with lots of pretty lights, Thai inspired décor and wood tables.

I’ve been looking for a great Thai restaurant near my home, and this unfortunately wasn’t it. The food is pretty good and the prices are excellent, but it’s fairly average otherwise. I ordered the pineapple curry with pork(yellow) lunch special and was disappointed to find that it was literally just pineapple and pork in yellow curry. I’d have really liked some vegetables in it as well, although the flavors were good. I was most distracted by the piles and piles of dirty dishes just behind my table in the hallway rather than the kitchen, which felt less clean that I’d have liked. I probably won’t return again.

Great food and service! The staff were very prompt and nice. Ordered the Pad Gra Pow with chicken and Massaman curry with chicken from the lunch special menu. Along with the main entrée came with either a side salad or soup and also two fried wontons with sauce. Everything had great flavors. Would definitely order both entrees again. Although flavor and portion wise, I feel like you get more with the Massaman curry than you do the Pad Gra Pow. Definitely will be coming back to try other menu items.

My husband and I tried this place based on the other reviews, and it did not disappoint! One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time, and possibly the best Thai restaurant I’ve eaten at. The wait staff was friendly and personable, the food came out quickly, and it was absolutely delicious with the right about of spicy. Add to that the $ 7 lunch combo, and we will definitely be coming back again. And again.

I took my friend there before i dropped her off at the airport. We ordered the beef Pai-Kee-Mao and Pumpkin curry(from lunch special menu). Both tasted Excellent. They have lunch special menu which includes a main dish, steamed rice or fried nice, and one house salad or soup of the day(only $ 6.99). I would strongly recommand this place. I really love the friendly service there. The only thing I didnt like is that the Thai tea was a little bit over sweet. But overall it is a nice place to have lunch.

This place is amazing! Excellent, friendly service. Hot, fresh food. I have been searching for Thai food in Salt Lake that is as good as what I love in Seattle. This is it! Highly recommend the Yellow Curry, Pad Ke Mow, Chow Mein and shrimp in a blanket. The pot stickers are so good!

When it comes to value, it doesn’t get any better than Red Basil Thai Bistro. Forget the fact that their lunch special with entrée, soup or salad, and 2 wontons is not only 7 dollars, the food and service is excellent as well. My favorites for lunch special are Pad Ka Prow Chicken(you can substitute different meat as well) and Massaman Curry. Another appetizer that I really like are the deep-fried tofu and for those who like Thai Iced Tea, they give a generous amount. The only con I can possibly think of is that it may be difficult to find parking, but that’s honestly just grasping at straws. I come here once or twice every two weeks and have been satisfied every time.

The reviews here are spot on! Been here a few times for the lunch special. I like the yellow curry. Service here is great but you may want to come a little before or after the lunch rush. I was blown away with how good the coconut mango rice was… You must try this!

I really want to give this place 3 ½ stars, but I’m going to round up because I want to promote non-chain family run restaurants. There are plenty of Thai places in the valley, and for the most part, they all seem pretty similar. The dishes are similar, the flavors are similar, and the prices are similar. The one thing I have noticed is that the portions vary greatly from establishment to establishment. You may pay the same price for a bowl of Curry and get half the portion depending on where you go. That being said, I think that this place is about middle of the road. You aren’t going to get a ton of food, but ordering two dishes should be good enough for two people to share. The flavors here are fresh and seem very authentic. The service was friendly, albeit a little slow. Overall a great little Thai spot. One word of caution. Most Thai places have dumbed down the spicy for the American pallet. We ordered the red Curry mild and were still sweating after. So if you are not a fan of spicy, make sure you ask the server how the dish comes in its mild form.
