I gave one star because one star is the least I can give! I made the reservation before I walked in, i was told that my reservation was not listed. The attitude was extremely bad and I am not going there anymore. No matter how well you do the nail, I will never walk in that place any more. Employees act like that do not deserve customers!

Perfect. I had Patricia do my hair and she did some magic to it. I thought there was no hope for my frizzy split end riddled locks. She even gave me advice on what products to use to prevent my hair from drying out. I am definitely coming back here soon.

Well I just got stood up! Made an appointment a week in advance, got there early, waiting 15 minutes, and was told my stylist wasn’t aware that she had an appointment because the books got messed up so she wasn’t coming in. Classy.

I’ve been going to Element since I relocated to West Lafayette and I have no compliants. My stylist is Amanda, she is great with color. She doesn’t even mind when I change my mind 30 – 50 times before I say… okay yeah just do the highlight lowlight thing again(The older I get the more afraid I am to do something exciting). They have nice products and they always offer you a coffee when you arrive. Prices are decent and I like the little shopping area with jewelry, scarves, etc. I’ve only been for hair but so far so good!

Pros: cute atmosphere, reasonable prices for hair services, friendly staff, a great boutique in store, 10% Purdue discount, Erin is highly recommended for any hair services Cons: I haven’t found any yet! After having some pretty bad hair experiences over the past few years(botched color jobs, fried ends from overprocessing and the unexpected hair chop after asking for a trim) I was really happy when I started working with Erin at Christina’s on the West Side. One day they called me up and told me she was no longer with the salon, but refused to tell me where she went. I was majorly bummed, especially because I had finally found a stylist who could cut and color my hair exactly how I liked it. Imagine my surprise when I found out she had moved over to Element. I booked my appointment immediately. I actually had never heard of this place, but I am glad I’ve found it. When you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and offered something to drink. Both of the soft drinks I received were flat, as they were poured out of a 2 liter, but the staff was happy to replace them for me. While waiting for my appointment, I browsed the little boutique in store. Lots of charming jewelry and gifts at reasonable prices. I found a lot of nice items that would make good Christmas gifts. I have not met with anyone other than Erin at Element, but I will say this: if you’re looking for a new stylist or colorist, give her a call. She really takes the time to make sure she knows what you want before she makes any cut or mixes any dye. She recommends ways to help you keep your hair in good condition in between visits, which I have found really extends the amount of time I can go between touch ups and trims. Beyond the great color and cuts I get, she always styles my hair really well after. Last time I asked her to curl it and put in some cute braids, and I received several compliments. On a personal level, she is just fun to talk to and makes the appointment enjoyable. She comes highly recommended! Some other reviewers seem to think this place is overpriced. I did not receive any nail or massage services, but my hair service(permanent color, haircut, style) was very reasonable and comparable to other«higher end» salons in town. I loved getting my hair done here, because my service came with a paraffin wax hand treatment. I love those little touches that make you feel pampered. All in all: I have found my new salon in West Lafayette. Book with Erin if you’re looking for a new stylist– you will NOT be disappointed!

This is the regular salon I go to for hair cuts. I like the atmosphere — it’s nice and funky but laid-back. The service has always been very nice, and of course it got better with time as now almost everybody there knows my name. I think the mani/pedis are a bit overpriced, but they are always a nice experience. I love my hairstylist(Jen B.) and have always been happy with the cuts she gave me. This is also one of the places that gives a discount to Purdue people.

I was in West Lafayette visiting family and needed to have my Shellac manicure re-done. Element was able to fit me in the same day. The salon is very clean, the staff is very nice and they did a great job on my nails. If I’m ever back in the area I would definitely go back here.

I got a gift card from my boyfriend to get a back massage and a facial. The masseuse did not show up and I had to reschedule my appointment for a week later, which was okay, but not great. The facial was really nice, but I felt suckered into buying some products that didn’t really help me and my face also broke out horribly after my facial. I feel like this place is incredibly overpriced, especially for what you’re paying and what you’re getting. Element needs to up the service aspect of their salon and they would do better.

I used a giftcard to have my color touched up at Element. They have a very nice, well-decorated space — very upscale. The staff, on the other hand, was a bit under-trained for their surroundings. When I pay $ 100+ for a root touch-up, I expect to have first class service. Unfortunately, the receptionist was young and unprofessional, my stylist was wearing a tee with jeans, and they were all chomping gum and giggling together in a side room the whole time I was there. Talk about alienating higher-end clients… I watch Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, I know how these things should be done people! Anyway, my stylist was very nice but just a bit unprofessional in regards to her banter with me. I also ended up walking out with WET hair… she gave me a deep conditioning treatment after the color, neglected to tell me she would send me home without washing it out or doing a blowout for me. Seriously… it was a bit ridiculous. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. She did a nice job on the color though, which I only found out AFTER I went home, rinsed my hair and dried it myself. Seriously, I paid over 100 dollars for the service. Should have been much better, in my opinion.
