all the food here comes spoiled. the first time I was like«oh okay… the weather’s hot. i wasted 20 bucks but that’s all right» The next time it happened again. The third time it came spoiled AGAIN, called them but they did not apologize once. It ordered it again today thinking it would not happen again. I feel so dumb. I happened AGAIN. What the hell I order only when I’m hungry so I end up eating them even if they’re spoiled. but 4 times in a row??? I do tip the driver. Always above 18 percent of the total. Their kitchens are disgustingly dirty. Even if I say I want spiciness level of 5, they never listen. And the noodles taste like nothing. Never ordering again.

i only order from rice café when other Chinese restaurants are closed. many many times, i have experienced bad rice. many times, i notified the mistakes they did on my food. they listened, but they never fix. it seems like they do not care. here are a few words that resembles rice café: — undercooked rice if you order fried rice(7 out of 10 times) — wrong meat in dishes — sometimes heavy soysauce in the dishes — lots of MSG — fast service; — microwaved food(crispy duck)

We order delivery from there a lot and have had no problems. Love that you can order online! The rice is good although sometimes over salted. I usually get General Tso or Orange chicken and it’s always good. The crab rangoons are semi circle shaped, not the star shape. After reading the reviews I am concerned about the cleanliness. I mean, how can that many people be wrong?

The person who took our order was very sweet and the food was ready quickly. White rice is impossible to screw up, so that was fine. I can’t really think of anything else nice to say. The chicken curry was FULL of bone shards. Weirdly the kung pao shrimp had lots of vegetables and the kung pao tofu had none, but it was so chewy it was like trying to eat a bouncy super ball. The water pitcher had mold growing in it. This family of Clean Plate Club members threw away at least half our food. The floors were dirty, and my child got trapped in the bathroom by a sticky door. I have no expectation for atmosphere at a campus Chinese place, and sometimes a «dive» has great food, but this was just vile.(My son’s choice of description.) Not recommended.

It’s good, cheap Chinese food. It’s exactly what you’d expect, and even tastier after Harry’s. No it’s not gourmet food, but it’s delicious and standard Chinese food. Also, it’s open till 4am every day, so that’s a huge plus.

Popular because its location is convenient, but the food leaves much to be desired. Almost everything comes out of the kitchen dry or burned. Popular for people late at night after the bars close. Kitchen appears dirty, but they must not seem to care because most people just get delivery. China One or Happy China would be better options.

It took them almost 2 hours to bring our food and they are located only 0.2 miles away. Do the math.

I hate to be writing this review. I have been eating Rice Café for a long time and a lot of their regular menu items are great. I like the Singapore Mai fun noodles, and a lot of other regular beef and chicken items. So far the startling problem is their popular items. The combo platter sucks d***. Yesterday night I ordered spring rolls and crab rangoon and guess what? I have food poisoning. As a graduating senior I can’t afford to sit at home when I have to be out and flying a plane, or doing things. Rice Café is unhygienic and they made me sick. I have 104 fever, water coming out of my behind and I can’t hold a single sip of water inside my tummy without vomiting and cramping the life out of my soul. If you want proof you can go look at the liquified pool of spring roll/crab rangoon on my bathroom floor.

I called in my order. Guy on the phone was super rude. I drove 15 min to pick it up, and he gave me the wrong order at the restaurant. I didn’t realize this until I opened it up at home. I called and the same guy on the phone answered. I asked for a refund of my order and he said there was nothing he could do with that over the phone. It’s no loss for me really, since I’ll be saving my money and spending it elsewhere after such bad service. Never going back.

I ordered my food and requested a spicy level of 3 out of 5. I love spicy food and have ordered it this way from Rice Café before. When the food arrived, it was so spicy and covered in chili flakes that it was inedible, and as someone who loves spicy food i don’t make that claim lightly. When I called to let them know, they said«sorry, there’s nothing i can do about that.» There is always something the business can do to fix a situation that’s been screwed up. Messed up food and worse service. Won’t order from here again.

This is hands down the best Chinese food in the area. You get a decent amount of food for a reasonable price. You may be able to find cheaper Chinese food but none that tastes this good. The best deal is their combo platters. You get your choice of meat entrée, a side of rice, and your choice of Crab Rangoon or egg roll. I can’t speak on the quality of the egg role since I always choose Crab Rangoon. Their crab Rangoon isn’t the greatest but still tasty. If you can’t decide what to get, I would recommend the orange chicken, sea same chicken, or sweet and sour chicken. I’ve had a lot of good stuff from here but those are my favorites. The staff here is also nice and has only made one mistake on my orders and I’ve been a customer since they opened ~7 years ago. These mistakes were minor, they forgot to include the extra sauce I ordered. I also like that they are quick with the food prep, they are open late, and their delivery is fast. I would strongly recommend this place if you are craving Chinese food.

I’m not one to leave a negative review unless it’s the worst experience of my life, so I’ll just simply say it isn’t worth a round two. I feel like its a conquest to find good Chinese food in town anymore. When will this change so I can pig out again!!!

At 2AM, after some drinking when you have muchies/you are hungry, this place is your best and only choice. Even if you are sitting at home and want to eat late in the night, this is your best and only choice. Food here does not taste any special, but its not bad. This is mainly a takeout/delivery place. Dont bother with asking for a spice level. I have had very spicy food when I asked for spice level 1(maximum level is 4). And I have had not at all spicy food for the same dish when I asked for the same spice level. Their pad thai, and low meins are good. Portions are good too.

My perfect college summer evening consisted of getting overly intoxicated at any and all of the Purdue bars, and then wandering past Rice Café on the way home. Don’t order delivery — it will take at least an hour(or just never come). Always call and pick up to save yourself from waiting in this small restaurant. Do yourself a favor and order a General Tsao’s chicken with an extra side over of crab ragoon. Hint: you won’t regret it in the AM if you throw away everything after you eat it. God willing, you’ll have blacked out and forgotten all about it! Otherwise, I strongly encourage a trip to the gym because you probably just gained about 5 lbs. Once, I tried eating it sober and had leftovers for three meals. Yea, it’s that much food. A true icon of drunk Purdue food.

Good place overall for cheap food at night for those midnight cravings. Food is not authentic(the combo boxes on hungryboiler are mediocre but I guess you get what you pay for). The curry chicken wings are great though. Delivery time can be really slow– upwards of an hour, but I guess that’s because they’re busy. Overall not bad.

Have you ever paid to be treated like garbage? Well now you can! Just simply call for delivery or eat in and you will feel so unwelcome you will realize that eating at Rice Café is a privilege bestowed on the few. You must earn their food with more than money but also your dignity. You too can enjoy Rice Cafes famous lines such as «What do you want?», «fine», and«K…». But that’s not all. Once you have given them your credit card number you will experience the famous abrupt hang up with no thank you included! I was expecting to get my food in a dog bowl but they were nice enough to wrap it in a bag and throw it at me after an hour of waiting around for it. I get so excited thinking about how much they really care about customers!

One of the best places to order chinese food in West Lafayette. They open until late too, which is the best for students who stay until very late for homework, projects, midterms, and/or finals!

Food is not the problem. The time to get the food is unreasonable. Last two times its taken over an hour, both times in store and delivery. In the store took almost 1.5 hours to get my order. I am not patient when it comes time to eat.

let me preface this by saying that for nearly two years I’ve lived within a few blocks of rice café, and it has become my go-to for good ol’ chinese takeout. for the college budget, the food is reasonably good, and FAST. orders seem to be ready within 15 minutes. most places are pretty lame when it comes to ‘spicy’, but rice café’s «level 5» spicy on their entrees is not to be taken for granted. but what sets them apart from the rest are their hours of operation – 4pm to 4am, which is great for drunk/stoned people who develop late night cravings for cheap eats(nowhere else besides taco bell is open). I wouldn’t have made it through 4 years of engineering classes without these guys.
