Went there with friends, the sushi was fresh, creative and tasty. My friends loved their meals as well. Good service as well. We will be back.

Absolutely the BEST Sushi and saki I have had since I moved here from Seattle. — Double Dragon roll — Crunchy Eel both AMAZINGLY recommended. They even had NOT frozen geoduck straight from Seattle!(didn’t have that as I didn’t want to try it when I lived there, but was very shocked they had it.) The Grade-5 Kobe Beef that you cook at the table was insane… I can’t say enough good about this place… it’s def a must if you like sushi… I have tried several places since I moved here, but this is by FAR the best so far.

The family and I had a great dinner. My son had his first rainbow roll. It’s a nice little place to get sushi any they have hot dishes as well. I had the teriyaki tempura tofu with vegetables and it was amazing. The vegetables were fresh and cooked just right. I would definitely go there again!

I love this place. My favorite meal is the katsu but they also have very tasty sushi. I would say it’s some of the best sushi in Melbourne and is always fresh. The eel is really good and I enjoyed it. I have never eaten in because I usually get take out so I cannot comment on service except to say that they have always been timely and polite when I go in to pick up.

Sat at the bar and had a nigiri omakase. It’s hard to find such good sushi places in major cities. To find one in backwater Florida is unbelievable. All the fish were flown in that day from Japan and the same quality you would expect at a high end Michelin-star location in SF or NYC. The knife skills were excellent, as was the seasoning. The fish was properly presented to me piece by piece instead of the usual American«have it all at once after thirty minutes» and even more incredibly they had Dassai 23… at a reasonable price(sub-100 $!) when I saw the Hokkaido Uni I just couldn’t believe my eyes. I really hope people in Melbourne will make it worth keeping this place around, because this chef is ready to take on Masa and Morimoto combined. Such a great personality and good talker too. Really recommended if you are into Edomae Sushi and know what that means.

This is without a doubt the best sushi in Melbourne. The fresh product and technique are what stand out the most. Their flavor combinations enhance every bite and build as you finish the bite. It’s truly the best. Five huge stars

Only 3 stars because we really didn’t order right. I ordered the deluxe sushi and it was strange. If I go back, I would order rolls. They looked very good but didn’t have one.

There just is not a better sushi experience in all of Brevard, hands down! I could continue this review for several more sentences but to anyone who has been it would not be necessary. They take pride in flying in fish direct from Japan(among other places) and offer selections you cannot find anywhere else around town. Highly recommend.

Let me just say«OUT F’in STANDING!!! Best sushi! Super fresh Uni and scallop. Had the Monkfish Liver as a special. Delicious all around. Chris, chef and owner and his partner are meticulously dedicated to their craft. We are Hamachi Kama experts and we say this is this best we’ve had. Lived in NY and Hawaii. Travelled the U.S. eating sushi every chance we got and we are excited about this place that we found thanks to Unilocal. Mahalo Chris! Awesome!!!

I visit Melbourne once a month for work and been to Umami a couple of times. I love the salmon avocado salad. It is delicious. I’ve also tried the tuna crisp roll, which was good but I didn’t fancy the crispy rice. I should have known by the name the rice would be harder than normal so I blame myself for this one. I haven’t ventured out of the salad and a couple standard maki rolls so I will have to update when I order the full sushi spread and get a better idea if their freshness. So far so good. That salad is damn good tho!

Hands down the best sushi in Brevard. The small menu is refreshing and not filled with tons of unnecessary items like many sushi spots locally. Fairly priced and large portions. Will be back as soon as possible!

Overall, it was an excellent meal, the wait staff was very nice and the food was delicious. We had many different roles and out of all of them, I really liked the Masago with Quail Egg. I’ve tried Masago at each sushi place in Melbourne, and this place had the freshest ingredients. I would stay away from the El Pollo Loco roll and the Distinguished Gentleman, but all the other rolls were outstanding. The quality of the ingredients is beyond reproach, but sometimes when you get a little creative with rolls, they aren’t appreciated by everyone. It was just my personal preference, but this place is GREAT and I recommend trying the Japanese Craft Beers that are available!

Fresh sushi, friendly staff and unique Japanese craft beer. I highly recommend if you are in the area. The Oco(Wahoo) roll was amazing. They use locally caught fresh fish for their rolls.

I’ve traveled all across the world and US and have sampled lots of sushi. I can easily say that Umami is one of the, if not the best sushi restaurant in Florida. Chris is a perfectionist when it comes to sushi. You can tell from the quality of his fish and his Steven to detail. He constantly orders rare fish and shellfish for his customers. Uni/Mirugai/Toro/Branzini/Arctic Char, just to name a few. They also have a great Japanese beer and sake menu. If you’re looking for real sushi, this is definitely the place to go to. Melbourne is very lucky to have this place here.

It was suggested to me that I try Umami and tonight I brought a large group of my family. Upon arriving we were promptly seated and our drink order taken. The décor left me confused or maybe it was the lack of décor. Our drinks arrived very quickly. Our server was very friendly and helpful with questions about the menu. I ordered the house salad, miso soup, and an assortment of sushi. Others ordered kalbi, shrimp tempura, and sushi rolls. The soup and salad arrived promptly and were very tasty. It did take a frustrating amount of time to get our main courses. I can understand if this place was packed but it was just us, one other table, and the people sitting at the sushi bar. The sushi when it arrived was good but from what was discribed to me I was expecting much better. Others in my party mentioned that they were not impressed with the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice roll. I sampled the kalbi and shrimp tempura. They were good. Dessert was beautifully presented and I have never tried green tea cheesecake before. It was absolutely delicious. Very light with a hint of green tea flavor. All in all a good experience but I feel there is much room for improvement.

In from out of town on business and saw this location on Unilocal and decided to try it. The calamari with sweet Thai sauce was excellent as was the Gyosa. For an entrée I ordered the Korean braised short ribs and it was delicious. The atmosphere was charming and nicely decorated. My wife would had loved it. The hostess/waitress was friendly, gracious and attentive. Great experience and food.

Very nice little restaurant although looks small from the outside is very roomy inside. Very clean with a nice atmosphere however the furniture is on the low end. My rear was hurting after an hour of sitting and my reason for the 4 stars(lack of comfort) otherwise could had been 5 stars. We ordered a miso soup to start and it was really good. We ordered 3 sushi rolls we had eel crunch roll, softshell crab roll and a double spicy tuna roll. All 3 were very very good and decent sizes(pictured) the double spicy tuna it had a real kick with the thinly sliced jalapeños and its spicy sauce, stands to its name. They all were very fresh and with a very nice balance of ingredients, excellent composition and presentation(pictured). The wasabi was very strong and really good just how I like it. For dessert we had a green tea cheesecake, this was really good too. Not to sweet not too powerful it was served with a small amount of whip cream and few pieces of blackberry and blue berries that made a lovely contrast. The service was very good, attentive and the food was served very promptly.
