My husband and I were traveling and popped in. I had never had authentic Ecuadorian food before and I was totally amazed at how delicious everything was. We had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten here. From the outside, the restaurant is very unassuming, but I love holes in the wall and I knew that to survive in this neighborhood the food must be incredible. We split a few dishes so we could try more and I am so glad we did. Our first choice was a soup called Caldo de Bola, which was perfect for the weather we were having. It has beef ribs, corn, casava, cabbage and a large ball made of cornmeal and green banana and stuffed with meat. It was singly the best soup I’ve ever had. You know how soup can sometimes feel like–«oh, boo, that wasn’t a meal»? Not so here! So amazing. So delicious. Next we had a dish with a thinly pounded slice of beef, rice, and a creamy lentil stew. It all mixes together with tostones(friend green bananas) to become the most amazing thing. My husband and I could have split just one of these dishes and left full! We also tried the flan and a drink called Quaker– made with oats, passion fruit and spices. Don’t skip it! Every single thing is fresh, made from scratch, and totally authentic. I wish I could visit weekly.
