Mac Fabrics

The fourth star is lacking as they are really very expensive. They however have a fabulous selection of fabrics and the quality is also tops. Their work is very good but they are very pricey. If price is of know concern, then this is the place to use!

I’ve been going to Mac fabrics since I was in high school-it’s a staple for me and my mom –sometimes just to look. I moved to LA several years ago and still wait until a visit back to palm beach to buy fabric-​I know that sounds crazy but they have an amazing selection and super helpful staff –don’t get me wrong –they are old school –but really know their fabric and measurement stuff-​something that always alludes me.

We have used Mac Fabrics in 2 homes now, for our shades, couch and chair upholstery, and most recently to put blackout treatments and balloon shades in our newborn daughter’s room.
If I had one complaint it’s that they were in the middle of the busy season and couldn’t do the installation as soon as we might have wanted, but such is life.

The fabric choices are great. It is evident employees are not treated well here. It is reflected in how they treat customers. Perhaps the owners prefer catering to designers only? Whatever the philosophy, staff ignores customers. You can be in the shop for an hour and no one will even acknowledge your presence except for the friendly dog!

This would get a 5 star rating for the fabric they carry but because the staff is so rude and unhelpful they deserve one star. When you are going to spend a pretty penny on fabric you should have decent customer service. Don’t bother calling this store, the women on the phone are so annoyed you will think twice as to why you are using Mac fabrics at all when there are so many great textile stores in Florida. Advice to Mac owner I would restaff your Clematis St. location ASAP, your staff is running good customers out of your store.

While Mac has tons of fabrics — many seem to have been there for years. A discount on an old fabric should be much more. Also, cute dog — it has personality and is interested in the customers. Such a shame the staff does not share the same attitude. I asked a question, but had to wait for the 2 workers to finish their conversation about scrapple and spam, only to look at me with that «we only work here» look. I asked then for assistance in the sample room — «Oh, we don’t do that here.» If only that dog could have spoken…
In the future — I won’t waste my time on Mac — I can find just as many fabrics on-​line or at other fabric stores in the area. If it’s not worth the time for the staff to help me, then it’s not worth my time to shop there.

Why is it that my mother always says I have caviar taste on a Target (pronounced Tar-​shay) budget?! Because it is so true.
A great example of this is my love of MAC Fabrics. This is a downtown West Palm Beach institution. They have a huge selection of fabric to choose from and if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they will order it for you. They also have furniture you can custom upholster. They will create pillows for you and reupholster just about anything. I have only had pillows made, but they were perfect and completed when expected.
Drawback: it is expensive, but so worth it sometimes!
Um, and I love the store because of the owner’s Italian Greyhound. She is sooo cute.
Tip: There is a MAC Fabric Outlet located on US 1 (also called Broadway) just north of the port of Palm Beach bridge. Their fabrics are deeply discounted and the woman who manages it is knowledgeable and always offers advice if needed.

i was really impressed by not only the selection of fabrics they had, but also how fun some of them were. the vinyl area in particular had some unusual things. the staff seemed more than willing to help and fairly knowledgable. the store goes back much farther than i would have thought – make sure you walk all the way to the back left of the store or you’ll miss ½ of what they have to offer. they also have a discount store not too far away where selected fabrics are 50% off.
bonus points for the adorable whipit that appears to be a store regular.

Although they have a helpful staff, the time it took to get my job completed was double what they estimated. Further, there was no effort at all on their part to keep me informed and they seemed annoyed when I called to follow up.

This is a pretty nice store if you’re after home decorator fabrics.
They have a pretty wide selection and really friendly staff. If I recall properly, they were a little on the expensive side, but still reasonable. Check this place out before you try any chain.
