Deno’s Pizza & Subs

It’s so sad this place has gone so far downhill. We no longer get delivery because something is ALWAYS missing from the order. They charge for simple little extra things and never actually give them to you. This is the fourth time recently that our food has been mediocre. The once favorite pizza place with a great reputation is under new ownership and it seems that the new owner doesn’t seem to keep up with the old standard. The prices have definitely gone up and quality down. I definitely don’t recommend ordering from here, unless it is a Sicilian pizza. The only thing that is still good (if you want a pizza for $ 25-​$ 30) and you won’t find it anywhere else.

This place went downhill for awhile, but they’ve turned it around recently. Great food especially there Sicilian pizza. The potato skin pizza is delicious.

Nope, no. This pizza tastes like it was microwaved too long. The crust is tough — you have to bite and struggle to get a bite loose. Never again, Deno.

I walked in at 10:48pm on a Thursday night. Two slices of cheese pizza heated up: crust still chewy within and crispy without. Pizza craving satisfied; mood significantly improved. What more could I ask for?
Side note: some dude was arranging the chairs alongside the table ledge that faces the window, right opposite the counter. He was saying how alternating the colors red and black just looked better. Sir, I wholeheartedly agree. Not enough people pay attention to aesthetics these days.

I am not sure how this only has 2 stars. We live in W. Rox and it’s great pizza — our favorite. Plus they give back to the community.

Best Pizza shop in West Roxbury! It is our go to pizza place and we have been going to here for the past 2 years since we moved to the area. We have tried a few other shops around West Rox and no one comes close to Deno’s! Trust me order any pizza and you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been ordering from here for at least 20 years. Love the new wing express. Atomic buffalo are great. My all time favorite is Andrews own spicy Italian delicious. Never disappointed.

Yeah, so I ordered here twice in a day. The first time I got a chicken cordon bleu sub, they didnt have the swiss or whatever cheese it is so I went for some other similar cheese and it was still cray good. I had a slice of pizza whilst I waited and it was good too. Later in the day I got this chicken and brocoli pasta in a cream sauce. Good stuff.

garbage cheesburger, they use madonalds patties!, way too expensive, tasteless pizza with spaghetti sauce on it?, they are lucky there are so many drunks in west roxbury to keep them in buisness

Fantastic Place! Got take out, and it was great! Highly Recommended!!! The food was great and if you are in the area pick up some Pizza!

It is just okay. Very hit or miss, don’t even bother on a busy night because everything will be lukewarm and rubbery. If you are going to order here go for a calzone. Honestly, there are just better places nearby.

I like Denos. I think their food is great! Pizza preferences vary with fingerprints, but I like their pizza. The meatball sub is awesome. Their paninis are really good. Grilled chicken on the salads is tender and nicely grilled, although there could be a little more chicken.
I’ve always found the place clean appearing when I go there, but I usually order for delivery. And here’s why my written comments here don’t line up with the two stars.
I hate talking on the phone, particularly ordering food for delivery and especially if there’s a perfectly good interpipes out there. And definitely especially when the website worked so well before a recent mandatory iOS update. And now it doesn’t work with Ios mobile platforms, specifically iPad.

I’ve asked Denos to contact their partnering e-​business company to fix this for the last two weeks, it’s still busted. I don’t think they give a crap. That’s why the 2 stars. When I can order via web again, I’ll amend my review.
For the love of my rapidly evaporating sanity, please fix this.

‘Wings Express’ they call themselves? If you’re going to have WINGS in your restaurant title, hence Denos and Wings Express, you might want to sell fresh chicken wings, not frozen tenders. That’s what I got when I ordered boneless wings. Most places give you fresh tenders. They were gross. The picture advertised in the front window is a joke. So isn’t the management when you email them to let them know your disappointment. No response.

In terms of pure quality, Deno’s deserves better than the 2 star rating I’ve given it. While I’ve never loved their pizza (and find their crust just awful), their food is generally pretty good. I’ve always enjoyed their subs, and sides, and pizza is good with the right toppings. The problem with Deno’s is their price. For food that ranges from mediocre to very good, their prices lean closer to what I would pay for excellent food. The establishment itself is quite nice, albeit a little outdated looking but there is nothing wrong with it. Staff is friendly but wait times can get annoying. Overall, it’s a very decent place, and one I would regularly come to if it weren’t for it’s price. There are simply better bang for your buck options in the West Roxbury area.

Not bad at all. sometimes you wait a little longer than expected. Food is good, a bit on the expensive side. Service is friendly and attentive. Good size space if you want to eat there.

I was so thrilled with the online ordering and delivering to work. It was so easy and actually worked!

I probably get something from here once a week or a little less. The pizza is okay. The subs that we’ve had are good. Usually we’ll go between chicken salad, which is always stuffed full and yummy, and the eggplant parm is very good. I like to get French fries but the portion they give for the price is really skimpy. We also frequent the buffalo chicken salad order. They have delicious buffalo chicken but the amount they put on the salad for the price is kind of silly, it’s like 2 chicken fingers on some shredded lettuce. I like the food here and I want to see them do well, I think it just depends what you order.

i am reviewing the wings. they are my favorite hotwings in boston right now. very standard but right in every way. crispy and hot, bathed in a very spicy sauce (i always order buffalo — hot).
the blue cheese is topnotch and that’s what seals the deal.
only negative is sometimes i have a little trouble communicating the order — not the brightest cashiers, but that is not a dealbreaker for these wings. they are soooo good.

It’s refreshing to see that the people of Unilocal,West Roxbury are seeing Deno’s for what they truly are; below average food, careless employees and greedy ownership.
This place has been serving garbage pizza for years. It’s never cooked, the sauce is almost bitter, the cheese somehow is burned while the crust is like rubber. How the hell that can be done is beyond me. The cheeseburger sub is piss poor. The patty is dry, the bread is soggy no matter what you get on the sandwich. And how do you screw up poppers. they are just frozen from a box. But they do.
Deno’s is a factory for poor food. They have so many employees, yet such crappy food.
If I could give less than one star I would.

So what do you do when you get several bad sub’s from a shop and email the owner of the business explaining the problems and also include pictures and that owner totally ignores you after making this effort to solve the problem???

Been going there for some time and my usual is the large Roast Beef sub which becomes two meals (Usually) and came filled with Roast Beef and the fixings I request.
NOT THE last 3 TIME’S!!!
Just for perspective this sub cost just below $ 15.00(they charged me extra for cheese which seemed to be a new charge) and for the same money I could get 3 delicious roast beef sandwiches at Kelley’s and get THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT OF WELL MADE, FRESH ROAST BEEF AS WAS NOT IN THE DENO SUB!
The sub at Deno’s had just enough roast beef in it for what would pass as a small sub and barely any tomatoes that i asked for.
I gave the owner a chance and since it has been several weeks WITHOUT A REPLY I post this review.
