This place is amazing! Forget those dinky lobster rolls filled with filler you’ve had in the past – Claws has the real deal. Huge pieces of lobster, lightly coated with mayo, on a garlic butter-toasted hero roll(not a tiny hot dog roll!) The lobster was incredibly fresh and sweet and the texture and taste of the bread with its light buttery crunch really enhanced the lobster. Honestly, the best lobster roll I’ve ever tasted and definitely worth the $ 20. Fries are crispy and seasoned perfectly; I just kept eating them even after feeling completely stuffed. Shrimp cocktail and lobster tail were both incredibly fresh and huge! The raw oysters were also bigger than most that I’ve had and super fresh. Frank, the owner, is really friendly and the outdoor area is just a great place to eat during the summer with a small creek and swans swimming by. Want a perfect summer seafood dinner? Go here.

How could we have missed this place all these years located just minutes from home? Fish monger market of the Gods inside with casual picnic tables with umbrellas outside. Walk up to a slide window, study a menu and soup specials, place your order and get a number and wait. You want to sip on a beer or wine, they got that. If it’s crowded they may say your wait could be 45 – 60 mins long. Is it worth it? Heck yeah. We have been back 2 times and on both visits we started off with salty briny cold juicy delicious raw cherry stone clams. Suck it off the clam shell with cocktail sauce, a little squirt of lemon and let it sit in your mouth, give it a light chew and close your eyes, it was so good. You like steamers or piss clams, we had that too, dipping them in hot melted butter, OMG. You want fish and chips, malt vinegar, and crunchy coated spicy fries, yep got that too. Lobster rolls on crunchy bread seemed to be going down all around us. Cars kept pulling up with happy anxious people ready to order. This place is a true seafood gem. Go there, go there now.

Came once last year, food was good, ambience was nice but I came in mid July when it’s extremely hot and humid. Not fun eating ur dinner sweating like a madman. Anyways came back today and the food was even better. My GF got huge clumps in her lobster roll, bread was perfect. I got the fried shrimp and they’re pretty big for«shrimp», fries were seasoned to perfection. ANDTHISPLACEISDOGFRIENDLY! Def have to return when a band is playing, great outdoor area.

Let me start off by saying, YESTOPETFRIENDLY!!! I’m always always looking for pet friendly places to take my little pooch! I’m so so happy they allow dogs, I can’t stress that enough. Thank you to the owners. Now let’s talk about the food! Ahhhhhhhhmazing!!! So fresh, so delicious + flavorful. I ordered the classic lobster roll and it exceeded my expectations! Everything was fresh. My boyfriend ordered fried shrimp + it was excellent. The sangria is also a favorite. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. If you enjoy seafood, come! I love that it’s so relaxed, you order the food at a window and they give you a number, grab a seat by the lake + enjoy your food. I’ll be back over + over again!

Delicious lobster rolls and they have a nice variety of them! I had the naked lobster roll(no mayo but with butter) and thought it was very good and it comes with a good amount of fries! We also had the sangria which was great for the hot sunny day! Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals. At this place you will place your order first, find a seat(or have someone else grab the seats) and then they will call your number for you to pick up your food.

This place is perfect for what it is. Not fancy at all, but the lobster rolls are perfect. My husband and I just returned today with our one year old. It’s very laid back and casual, so a nice place to bring kids without worrying about anything. Great to just sit, enjoy a lobster roll and a nice cold beer! Wait times can get lengthy in the summer months, so if you’re not in the mood to relax and enjoy a drink while you wait, try going during off hours.

This is a place which has outdoor seating. I had driven past and had wanted to try so I stopped with my husband I wanted clams The counter person said they did not have it. I ordered the corn. They said they did not have any. My husband wanted the seafood platter. It was not in stock. Okay so I ordered the crayfish. It was again not in stock. I settled on the lobster roll which people on Unilocal raved about. I did not like it. It had very little meat and was $ 18 which is about the same for a whole lobster. Fries were good. It is surprising that so many items were out of stock at a fish store.

The food is great, I want to love the hell out of this place, but the customer service has been clearly discriminating. The amount and kind of lobster meat put on the rolls my husband orders always look less and worse than those of other customers around us, we’ve noticed a pattern. The difference is very obvious too, not just a little. We got gipped multiple times. My husband looks very Latino, could that be it? Bothered me a lot seeing as we have been looking for a regular spot nearly as good as our favorites in Boston, where we had not at all been treated that way. Unfortunate. Spent $ 50 for lunch to get a lobster roll that’s all bread, from a cashier with an attitude. Messed up. As for the owner talking badly about me, you clearly have me confused with someone else as my hair isn’t currently purple and we just visited a few days ago. And this happened another time before I ever even dyed my hair. Neither time was my hair purple. And who gets crackers with lobster rolls? We didn’t. Whoops. Letting you know before you also mistreat a returning customer who may have looked like me. Yikes. Maybe you need to talk to your nasty staff who gave the other customers much fuller lobster rolls compared to ours. It was VERY obvious, and the little girl in the front WAS nasty. How about trying to right the wrong instead of accusing a customer about their honest experience? Hm. Might be more professional.

Very busy in here. Ordered takeout and I got the po boy. It was HUGE. Seriously, that thing is probably 5 pounds and full of shrimp, clams, cod, crawfish and cole slaw and it’s delicious! It tastes so fresh and wonderfully seasoned. Can definitely be shared between 3 people! Update: went back and got the lobster roll. Came with amazing fries and pretty good coleslaw. The lobster roll was a bit too buttery but it’s the best I’ve had on Long Island.

I’ve worked in the restaurant biz for over 20 years, and it baffles me how a place specializing in fried food on paper plates can’t take orders faster than this. We stood in line for nearly an hour, and there were only ten people in front of us on line! What was even more astounding was that people were not walking away from the counter with their food… the massive wait was just to PLACE the order!(Runners come out later and yell your name when the food is actually ready.) CLAWS seriously need to rethink their ordering process. I would suggest having one of the runners hand out menus and order slips to people standing in line. People can use the wait time to decide what they want(instead of doing it while they’re standing in front of the cashier, as apparently everyone last night was doing), and then they can just hand the filled out slip to the cashier and move things along. When we finally got to order, we went and sat at a table — which was covered in dried melted butter, and spilled stuff of unknown origin. It was just generally grungy. There should be someone wiping down tables at regular intervals, especially at a place serving raw seafood! Next up — the lobster roll. So many people have sung its praises, I just had to try it. The bun was toasty, and garlic buttery, and yes — there was a lot of lobster meat in it. But the chunks of lobster were large and ungainly and kept trying to get out of the roll, and there was no sauce that I could detect holding any of it together. To make me a happy customer, they’d have to cut the lobster meat into smaller pieces and give me some more mayo and spices to make it a lobster salad… not just a bunch of dry chunks of meat. Not blown away here. My husband ordered the fish’n’chips, and we traded bites so we got to try both meals. The coating was absolutely NOT«fish’n’chips» batter, and the fish was in large, heavy square chunks, rather than the long, slender pieces of cod one expects. The coating on this fish was dark and crunchy and grainy, sort of like hush puppy batter. I much prefer the light, creamy batter that comes out flaky and golden and sits above the fish. The best thing I can say about the meal was the«Bay fries». French fries seasoned with Old Bay spice(the stuff you boil crabs and crayfish in, traditionally). It’s really easy to use too much Old Bay, but they’ve got it down just right. The fries are crispy, and perfectly seasoned. End of the story is: Wait in line an hour, pay $ 40 for mediocre food, a beer, and a bottle of water.

One of the better lobster rolls I’ve had in a while. Great flavor, good texture, not too buttery or full of that mayo flavor. My only complaint was the bread was very thick and dry, and, despite it being heated and buttered really made the sandwich feel heavy. I think their roll isn’t the best vehicle for such good lobster — a hot dog bun would’ve been better than a stale roll. I also had the privilege of taking a bite out of the po’ boy, which was amazing, but super heavy. This is definitely a shareable order. Between all the ingredients and the sauce they put on it, you’re guaranteed to end up in a bit of a food coma. Claws’ beer selection is also very solid. They have they typical selection you’ll find everywhere, but they also add in a good number of craft and artisanal choices. The service is also really good and they are kind enough to bring your order over to you instead of having to pick it up at the counter. The venue itself is also really nice. Right by the small inlet, good seating, you can choose to be in the sun or under the tent. There was also a pretty good band when we stopped by on Sunday afternoon. Would definitely recommend this spot if you’re in the area.

Tried my very first lobster roll! Boy am I glad I saved it for this place. While this clearly isn’t the fancy restaurant on the island. It has a certain relaxing comfy feel to it. The night I went there was live music so it was fun and relaxing. Enjoyed a beer while waiting for our food. Started out with an order of the lobster bisque very tasty but could use some more lobster chunks. Order the side of fried clam strips, weren’t my favorite but fried clam strips rarely are, my girlfriend did enjoy them. On to the real reason everyone comes here, first off when ordering the girl at the counter warned of an hour wait, wasn’t nearly that long. Waited only about 20 – 30 minutes. Food came out and was I in heaven. The roll was the perfect level of crisp and a great buttery garlic flavor which enhanced and complimented the lobster flavor. The sandwich was loaded with huge chunks of lobster. Can’t wait to go back and have another!

The Quick: Crazy expensive but great fresh food with outdoor seating and occasional live music; great spot for a casual bite. The Details: Lobster might be the food of the gods. Luckily, Claws understands that, and serves good portions of fresh buttery lobster on a warm roll. It’s the best I’ve had in the Sayville area thus far(if you know better please message me, I’m always on the hunt). The Damage: $ 18 for a lobster roll and fries… Crazy pricey compared to Maine portions, but I still keep coming back.

Great fish store and place to eat! I’ve yet to try their lobster roll, but people rave about it. I went with a basic fried flounder dinner w/fries. It was delicious. What made it even better? I ordered a roll on the side that they use to make the lobster rolls with. They toasted it, buttered/garlic’d up. Stuffed it with flounder and coleslaw. It was one of the best flounder sandwiches I ever had. Seriously. I will be going back again this week to have the same exact thing again. It was that good. Come down and support these guys, they are locals and are pushing out some great product.
