I come here to pick up odds and ends and once in a while to do a fast week’s worth of grocery shopping on a lunch break. The store never seems busy, until you try to check out. There are generally 2 express lane cashiers and 1 regular lane cashier(generally without a bagger) and there are those folks who will stand there and not bag groceries even though they know the line is growing(PETPEEVE!) The selection is generally good and I have found the prepared foods to have a good selection. The produce seems to be much better here than some other locations. The«natural» foods section and special dietary needs section is above par. The parking is easy and plentiful. The location is convenient.

Shaws offers a good-sized salad and soup bar that I have been frequenting lately during my lunch break from work. I find that the salad bar ingredients are always fresh and well stocked. There’s a couple different types of lettuce to choose from, chicken, bacon, some different types of fruit, beans, and all the veggies. I wish there were more salad dressing options to choose from. They don’t offer the kinds I like right there at the salad bar on hand. But guess what?! I’m at a grocery store so I can buy a big bottle of whatever salad dressing I want. The soups are great, I recommend the broccoli cheddar and the beef chili. Right by the soups they have huge roasted garlic rolls that are delicious for 99 cents. Definitely get one if you’re getting the broccoli cheddar soup! Sooooo good. There are other quick lunch options as well in the deli area. They have Panera soups and macaroni and cheese on hand that you can grab and microwave at a later date. Those are $ 5 for a 16 oz. container. Pretty much the same price as Panera. The rest of the store is pretty much your average Shaws. Once in a while I grab some cookies or bagels out of the«one day old bin» for the discounted price(I don’t notice the difference!). The only thing I can say is that their express lines that are«15 items or less», they mean it! I was in a hurry one day during my lunch break from work and had literally 18 small items in my basket and dared to go into the express line. There was only one non-express line open and there were five people with overflowing carts waiting in that line. There were 4 express lines open that were completely empty. I went into one of the lines with my 18 items and received some comments from the cashier about the«extra work I was causing her» and I was told to «not come into her line again with more than 15 items». I didn’t say anything, I just looked around at the other 3 express line cashiers who were still completely empty. One shrugged and another rolled her eyes. I was so put off by the rude cashier I wrote an online complaint to the manager but never heard back. Oh well! I just avoid that cashier now.

It has all the necessities. ie, Redbox is located inside. But it is a lot smaller than the other Shaw’s location on Allen Ave. Has a really nice floral department.
