We stopped in I Father’s Day bit of a wait but worth it. I had the sizzler very good kids had crepes liked them a lot wife had a wrap. Only issue is we sat in the corner by the door to the right. I had to eat with people’s asses in my face. They would stand inside the doorway lean against the wall 10 inches from me. I finally asked people to step back once in awhile but it was a losing battle. Disappointed in the wait staff for not telling people to wait outside, it was a beautiful day and that they would call them when there table was ready. Like we did, people can be so ignorant to there surroundings and inconsiderate these days.

Great breakfast spot. The place only has about 10 tables and some are better for 2 not 4. The Nutella crepes were delicious. The mushroom chicken crepes were also great. The normal breakfast stuff(eggs, hash, toast, English muffins, omelette, etc) were all very good. Sorry didn’t try the coffee, but the OJ was good. The staff was friendly and the chefs who work right in front of the bar were on top of things. The tables and the bar were clean. The bathroom is in the dish room/pantry and it is tight. The kitchen is right in front of the bar and don’t sit there if you don’t want to know what goes into the dish you will eat. Nothing bad there just very close.

The food is fantastic. I had the steak and cheese omelette, which was very tasty and seasoned beautifully. My boyfriend had the«salmon mess» special. He described it as «euphoric, sublime, and complete nirvana». The only reason for the 4-star rating, instead of 5-star is that our service lacked enthusiasm and attentiveness.

The best breakfast in CT. Original menu and friendly staff makes this diner a must go. Lobster creps, frittatas, and pulled pork mess are among my favorites! You can’t go wrong with this menu.

Wonderful little café — the owner\staff were friendly & inviting. Numerous yummy choices on the specials board plus breakfast & lunch menu. I had a Chicken falafel –absolutely delicious. My husband has The Salmon Mess which was spinach, broccoli. Scallions & cheese on top of hashbrowns topped with Salmon — it looked scrumptious! We will be back!!!

The food is SOGOOD! Went for Sunday brunch, first time and can’t wait to come back. So much on the menu, it was tough to decided. Their crepes are amazing. Great service too.

Solid breakfast, friendly staff, but the savory breakfast crêpe is what makes the drive from New Haven worth it!

Pros: turtle pic with the pumpkin. Cons: I got an American burrito that had egg on it and it wasn’t on the menu.

Had a great breakfast! Frittatas, omelettes, and waffles all a ten! The service was excellent! Husband and wife run business, and they couldn’t be any nicer! I felt like I was at their house eating! A must stop if you’re in the area!

Four years have passed since my last review, and I’m pleased to say that the Turtle Café continues to impress me with its wonderful food, imaginative menu and friendly waitstaff. The daily breakfast specials are always delicious and beautiful when they arrive at the table. Favorites include the Pulled Pork Mess, Southwestern Omlette and Vegetable Quesadilla.

This place is fantastic. It was small and cozy and packed full of people. After I finished my food, I understood why. We sat at the counter next to Walter, a regular who has had 4 specials named after him. He said sitting at the counter is the best so you can watch the show. The best apparently is when they«flip» the oatmeal. Walter said it looks like a volcano exploding. Unfortunately, I missed it both times, but watching Chef Ricky was definitely intense. He puts out a large amount of amazing food. Right from the start I had a feeling it would be good, the coffee was strong and my cup was always full thanks to the wonderful waitresses. We ordered three of the specials on the board for the morning: eggs and homemade hash, the Biscoff crepes, and the smoked salmon Tikka Masala Crêpe. The food was amazing, creative, and quite lovely as you can see from the photo. It marked the first time I had Tikka Masala sauce in a breakfast context and also the first time I experienced Biscoff spread, which is called a cookie butter. It is like nutella, but cinnamon-y and with little crunchy cookie pieces. Really yummy with fruit and caramel tucked inside a crêpe. All of this food came to $ 26. Absolutely unreal! If you are in the area or looking for an extra special breakfast experience, I very highly recommend a stop here.

You really can’t do better than Turtle Café if you’re looking for breakfast on the shoreline. Amazing food(favorites = lobster crêpe, salmon crêpe, any frittata, and tex mex burrito), great service, friendly laid back vibe, and super nice chef/owner! Ricky is a super talented chef and it shows. If you’re in the area — it’s definitely worth stopping in. UPDATE: stopped in this weekend, get the clam hash if they have it as a special. Literally the best thing I’ve ever had there.

Food was great and the chef was good but one star off for not good service. I had a waffle that was big and softy and tasty with butter and because they do not have eggs Benedict I made my own with an over easy egg on crispy bacon on a bagel. I saw some locals get yummy specials and could tell the chef knew how to cook great! Cute little town and a good choice for breakfast. It was a Wednesday morning and the waitress may be new to serving. It took a while for her to come over. I saw her restocking some jellys, pouring coffee a second time for guests and doing some odd this before coming to us. She kept forgetting things but seemed to be happy and content. At least she was not stressed right!

A great place to stop before or after going to the beach! I had crepes with goat cheese, caramelized onions and spinach. They were amazing and came with delicious baby greens. My friend had a Mediterranean frittata that he loved as well with roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts. The prices are reasonable for the ingredients and the service was quick and friendly. I would like to go back and try the Nutella crepes or even their lunch items.

This rating is following NYC standards. For local standards I’d give it a 4. — Coffee: 1 star — Frittatas: they are actually open face omelettes on stove top: 3 stars — OJ: whatever rating you’d give Tropicana — service: we sat immediately but the food took 50 min to come. Friendly and attentive waiters: 3 stars

Best kept secret in the area! Best quality ingredients at amazing prices! I’m a regular for years and can’t praise this place highly enough. One of the reasons I’m able to survive in this rural town. Crepes are by far my favorite, specifically mushroom chicken, grab the lobster crêpe special when you can, loaded with NOMS and so fairly priced. The specials are always yummy an interesting often with salmon, pulled pork and lobster. The hash is homemade crepes are homemade, clarified butter, lovely greens. The service is always dear, and the chef Ricky really loves what he does and you can taste that love in the food. I’ve never experienced such quality attention to detail. The best way that I can illustrate this is that I’ve never had one of those slimy pieces of lettuce make its way into my salad. Plan a trip to the beach come visit this charming town and make sure you eat at the turtle call ahead sometimes they’re closed early. Edit: there is a recent seriously misguided reviewer who cannot have accurately described this place, I suspect she’s an operative from a competing breakfast joint.

Can’t say enough great things about this place ! Their hash was great — nice and crispy on the grill, the frittatas were out of this world and a simple dish like scrambled eggs is elevated here. Small location so don’t expect Denny’s speed but everything is worth the wait
