Scheduled a hour beginner lesson early in the week for Wednesday. Wednesday’s weather was awful, stormy tons of rain. I called to cancel & hopefully reschedule and I was switched to Thursday evening as I requested. So easy & friendly! Thursday comes, I’m really nervous but so excited about trying something new. For a couple of years I have been becoming more and more interested in paddle boarding. Anyhow we(my daughter too) are here meeting Tyler our instructor super sweet & lots of experience! He gives us a short intro on the ground right outside & we head out to the dock. We start out on our knees, paddling out, he really picked out the best board for me. I am very wobbly but his calm words & patience trying to get me up worked! I’m up & we are paddling out! Tyler was super friendly and knew exactly what to say & do to make me, the shakey newb comfortable! None of us got wet(fell in) and I can’t wait to go again. Location is perfect, it’s a very quiet cove, some boats but nothing close. The water was still with just a little breeze in the air. Such a fantastic experience.

Today, my fiancé and I took a gift certificate over to Lisa at the Watch Hill location. She was pumped because she has just procured a launch on the water for the business and was happy to show us the ropes. I’m a beginner(no balance, zero coordination) and she was great with the intro. She fit us with boards for our height and weight and set us on our way! Two hours of cardio and muscle building and we were done! The Watch Hill location is nice because it offers a nice balance of calm waters, currents, wind, and choppy water. I would bring gloves, the paddles hurt after a while. And don’t go to far, you have to get back! You can’t really bring keys/wallet/cell phone, no storage on a paddle board. Maybe a waterproof camera? And sunscreen/sunglasses/hat. We’ll definitely go back!
