I am severely nearsighted and have had terrible experiences going to mall stores for prescriptions & glasses, so I appreciate having a top notch optometrist in town. At previous eye doctors I have really struggled to walk away with the correct prescription, but the advanced technologies Dr. Combs uses generate an extremely precise prescription which she confirms using the old fashioned«is A or B clearer» trick. She also uses advanced technologies to check overall eye health. The office is all very friendly and helpful, and were great with my kids as well. Highly recommended.

I recently had a very positive experience in working with Dr. Combs for my vision needs and I highly recommend her to anyone needing optometrist services. After looking online for some local optometrist options, I chose Dr. Combs due to positive reviews, a convenient location, and the apparently recent expansion of her practice to include partnering with another eye professional familiar with Lasik technology. I made my initial appointment with intent to consult about options to address my primary vision issue of farsightedness. I was greeted pleasantly by the office staff, provided a standard medical history questionnaire to complete, and given the option of taking a few diagnostic tests in addition to those privided as part of a general exam that would provide some greater data about the general health of my eyes(for a clearly-stated additional cost), which I chose to accept. I was set up on a number of different high-tech diagnostic machines that collected data about my current prescriptive needs, the shape of my eyes, and the health of my inner eye and was also asked to provide feedback about what I could see on a chart using traditional, manual, self-reporting. After evaluating this information, the doctor sat with me for a respectable amount of time to address the results and to discuss my needs and wants. She suggested that I consider bifocal contacts, as the quality of this option has reportedly improved a lot in recent years. I was happy to hear this and to test it out, and was surprised that I was given some lenses to put in right away while at the office. We set up a follow-up appointment for a week thereafter to provide feedback about my experience with these lenses, with the understanding that some tweaking might be in order. I was fortunate during that week to adjust to the sample lenses well, but reported in the follow-up appointment that I felt the prescription could use some adjustment, as Dr. Combs thought it might. She again went to her stock to find another set of lenses with a different strength to test and gave me another week to evaluate this new set. Given that I had worn contacts for many years before having Lasik surgery to address my former near-sightedness, I was experienced in how to work with contact lenses. This was helpful in that I didn’t need to go through the initial and awkward stages of learning how to insert and remove the lenses, but it didn’t mean that I was immune from some of the common issues of new contact wearers. Unfortunately, I lost one of the lenses during that second week of testing, and I sheepishly reported that to the doctor during another appointment, along with my uncertainty that this prescription was the best for me. Again, Dr. Combs patiently took time with me to address these concerns, and she provided me with yet another set of lenses to test without hesitation, complaint, or any outward signs of irritation that I would likely have expressed if I were in her position. I informed her that I would be out of town for an extended period of time and she assured that I was provided with what I needed to evaluate the prescription and to come to a comfortable decision about which prescription to use. Upon my return home, I contacted the office and reported that the doctor’s impression of the best fit for me was accurate and that I wanted to order contacts in this prescription. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this could be done over the phone and that the contacts could be sent directly to my home. Throughout each aspect of my experience thus far with Dr. Combs and her office personnel, I have been satisfied. The office was clean, the equipment was up-to-date, and the staff behaved professionally. This practice accepts a variety of insurance types, and I was pleased to learn that, when I thought I had no insurance coverage for my eyes, my plan actually did cover some of the services I received. Moreover, I have been appreciative and impressed with the doctor’s patience, knowledge, and persistence in working with me to discover what my best option is. She has shown a great balance of working with and applying advanced technology while honoring the human element within medical practice. I will recommend her to my family and friends.

As good as it gets. Very knowledgeable staff. My exam was very thorough. I don’t believe I have had such a thorough eye exam since I went to college. The staff is friendly and courteous. Dr. Combs and staff explain each procedure and what the tests are looking for. Besides an appointment I learned a lot about my eyes. I highly recommend Combs EyeCare and EyeWear.

Well I made this appointment because I needed a new prescription for my contacts. The insurance that I had said appointments were $ 15 and for other stuff I don’t remember for what but that something is $ 25. So I was charge $ 132, which is absolutely absurd! I would save money without insurance then with! What’s the point of that? You can get your eyes checked and get glasses all together for $ 50 at other places. The only thing I ask for when I go to a doctor is RESPECT! The doctor didn’t shake my hand and seemed on rush. I didn’t like the vibe at this place. I’m going back on September 5th to get my prescription for my contacts and I will never be back. Told my mom not to go here either. Most workers are in their 20’s and seem new to this field. I felt like by the way they carried themselves, that they had no idea what they were doing! Most important thing is confidence and smiling! I got neither. How disappointing. Also be prepared to pay for your appointment right there and then. My What if I didn’t bring my money with? They can’t bill to the house like normal places? I hope I get my money back for this because this is a rip off! I never in my life laid 132 bucks for an eye exam! :O

On June 6 I went to Combs Eye Care of Western Springs il for a routine annual eye exam. I wear glasses and contacts. Dr. Combs billed my insurance company $ 485.00. This was $ 405 more than my Hinsdale eye Dr. billed for the same service a year before. It took 4 visits to the office to get my contact prescription right. I ordered my contacts through Dr. Combs’ on line service. A data entry error by Dr Combs office caused the wrong prescription to be shipped to my house. Many phone calls and 8 e mails later I finally received a credit on August 10. I am still waiting for Dr. Combs office to refund the 6.99 in shipping charges for an erroneous order that wasn’t my fault. I feel the $ 485 charge for an annual exam is excessive and I asked the office to review these charges. Several errors in data error input in this high tech looking office made this experience more complicated than it needed to be. The only reason I even tried this office was because they were local. I would certainly recommend that you go anywhere else for your eye exams. This office overcharges and is plagued with errors.

I have been going to here for several years with no issues. I went in for my annual appointment and ordered contacts as well as paid for them. When I had called looking to pick them up 2 weeks later, for some reason the order was never put in and they then ordered. Since I was out of contacts(purpose of my visit), the office supplied me with samples until I received them. The doctor is nice and knowledgeable.

Dr. Combs sent me a check immediately for the difference in my payment, as well as a personal note. Dr. Combs is really aware of customer service. I will be back again.
