Pulled pork and brisket delicious. Better than city barbeque. I love all the side dishes as well. ice tea good. A little over priced .I will definitely come back soon.

I didn’t realize how close this place is to my house, so I finally made time to pick up something for dinner. Tried the half slab, killer mac and cheese, and the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was well made and the mac and cheese was so good. I didn’t enjoy the huge smokey flavor from the ribs, instead of tasting like«smoked meat» it tasted«smokey» so it good but not great. The pulled on the other hand was great and the bbq sauce I got with my order was great. I need to come back and try out the chicken and turkey to see if it’s worth ordering or not.

I love the odd ball restaurant, greasy spoon diners and any place that you can’t find on every corner. Just happen by this place, thought I’d give it a shot. The pulled pork could’ve easily come out of a crockpot, no barbecue flavor and no bark. I asked the guy at the window if they had any coleslaw and bread and butter pickles for on top. A real barbecue place should either have them or be offended that you asked, he never heard of it.

Literally a shack but that just makes it so much more amazing because they put out such great food. My daughter(like most kids) is a Mac&cheese expert and she loves theirs. I had the pulled pork and slaw sandwich which was so tastey and my husband had the smoked chicken wings which were equally as delicious. I have nothing bad to say about these guys I recommend them to anyone I can.

I am a BBQ freak, and this place stacks up. Ribs were tender, well smoked and the sauce was tangy and sweet without overwhelming the flavor. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was raining the day we went, but the outdoor seating area looked nice. I heard they even have bands sometimes.

This place was delicious but the people working there were so fantastic. We popped by this place on a random afternoon after visiting Alum Creek and it wasn’t too busy. There is a cute little drive thru or you can order at the window and then grab a seat at the several picnic tables they have scattered around. We got beef brisket, pulled pork and mac n cheese to share and we probably could have gotten more because it was so tasty! The mac n cheese was one of the best we’ve ever had. I think what made me give this a five was because we had our dog with us and they gave him a little smidgen of pork and then brought him a water dish out to our table. I love sincerity like that in a local business.

This is one of those places I’ve been meaning to get to forever. Even though it’s barbecue and I really wanted to check it out, it’s just too far off my typical routes, and the few times we’ve been up that way we end up eating someplace else. Yesterday I was right nearby with some time to kill, so I made a point to swing by. Even knowing it was in an odd location it was hard to find– it’s kinda in the middle of the parking lot in front of Kroger. It’s a nice place, doesn’t feel like it’s in a retail nightmare area. There are plenty of tables if you want to sit and eat, or of course you can get it to go. Drive-through BBQ… Service was great. Yeah, you just order at a window, but they were super friendly and explained everything, and brought the food out to my table. Plus, any time someone wandered by they checked on me. And I’m too picky. I know it. I just love BBQ, and have had enough good stuff that I’m jaded. I had a couple of rib bones, the pulled pork sandwich with slaw, and bread pudding. The ribs literally fell off the bone, and hey, for me that’s not good. I like tender. But I don’t like picking up a bone and having the meat shlurp off in a pile. The flavor of the meat was decent, but overwhelmed by the sauce. There was a nice crust, which probably would have held up without any sauce. I would rate these as average– now, that’s good, because we have some good BBQ in the area, so our standard is high. But they’re not great. The sandwich was on good bread, and piled high with meat. Mushy, flavorless meat. The«hot» sauce wasn’t spicy at all, but did add needed flavor. The slaw was good, and added a nice crunch. I was disappointed since so many talk up the pulled pork, but if you just look at it as a sandwich it was fine, and cheap. As BBQ, meh. I didn’t think I’d still be hungry after all the meat, but I was, so I got some bread pudding. An odd thing to have at a BBQ place, and at a carryout, but it was very good. Not mushy, nice flavor, not too sweet. I love bread pudding and was glad to see it on the menu. All in all, it’s a decent place. None of this is bad food; but it’s just okay, and when I pay for good BBQ I want to get it. It’s good that we have so many BBQ places, and are spoiled with choices. I would not make a special trip up here, but if I lived nearby I would stop in once in awhile. They are good people and are making a good contribution to the area. If I have another occasion to stop in I will give them another chance and try some of the other stuff on the menu.

Stopped in for lunch and ordered pulled pork with slaw on it and mustard sauce, beans and a sweet tea. Cost $ 13, a bit much for lunch. The smattering of slaw cost me 75c, and the tiny 12oz sweet tea was $ 2.25, holy wow! Now for the food quality… It was good. Pulled pork was lean, moist and not overly smokey and it was on a wonderful fresh sandwich roll. The smattering of slaw on my sandwich was coarse and wet, possibly commercial. Mustard sauce had a hint of spice and was thick, with more of a mustard taste than other places. The beans were quite acceptable, had sparse amounts of brisket mixed in and were quite saucy. The sweet tea was good, not overly sweet, but waaay over priced for at $ 2.25 for a 12oz solo cup. Overall, I think the meat selections are good, plentiful and priced in line with other similar operations and rate 4 stars. However, the sides, additions and drinks are overpriced and some seem to be commercial grade. IF I return, it will be for a sandwich only and I will have chips and a drink in my truck. For that reason, I rated them 3 stars, overall. Worth a try if you’re in the area, and not on a budget.

We went on a Friday evening. It’s either a walk up or drive up. We went to the walk up, ordered a slab of ribs and sides of sweet potato casserole, potato salad, coleslaw and baked beans. Sides were good, beans have a heavy dose of pulled meat in them. Potato salad and sweet potato casserole were our favorites. Ribs were average, covered in a thick slightly sweet, slightly acidic, with just a touch of heat sauce. We ate half the ribs and brought the rest home. Decided they weren’t worth finishing, and disposed of them Saturday morning. All of that being said we will go back for outdoor tables and live jazz music. A great summer evening

Unique spot that is literally a small shack with drive thru or walk up service. Any seating there is at picnic tables scattered throughout the grassy area which on a great spring/summer/fall day is wonderful. A small stage is set up in the picnic area and was told there are small concerts that go on there as well which could add to the experience. The food was very good, nice authentic smoked meats that once they run out of what they prepared for the day they’re done so you know its fresh. I had the pulled pork sandwich and the meat is very flavorful and juicy, the bun was top notch and comes from a local bakery no store bought buns here. Came with a selection of 3 sauces, I liked their Hot BBQ which wasn’t spicy just had a nice little kick. Overall I would add this to my BBQ rotation for a combo of nice outdoor seating and good but not great BBQ. prices are fair but I felt they could have added a bit more meat to the sandwich.

The sides are all awesome– I wasn’t expecting much from the potato salad but it was full of fresh veggies and very tasty. Brisket was five stars. Looking forward to trying the tacos, only offered on Tuesdays. Wings were larger than BW3s. Great service! Expect to pay $ 12 – 16 per person.

Being so close to home and based on other Unilocal reviews, I really wanted this place to be great. The 1st time I stopped it was about an hour before closing and they were sold out of everything except for chicken. I took this as a good sign — good BBQ places frequently sell out of their smoked meats. The 2nd time I stopped, they had a full selection of meats available. Being as this was my 1st time eating here, I decided to try a variety. I ordered a full rack of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, a brisket sandwich and 3 small sides. And — just for the record — I was planning to split this order with my wife. Initially, we split the 2 sandwiches and the ribs so we could each try a variety. The ribs were very tasty but they were FAR from«fall off the bone» tender. We used a serrated knife to separate the ribs and still needed a knife to get some of the meat off the ribs. In addition, it appeared that the«silver skin» had not been removed from the back of the ribs before smoking. After eating 2 ribs, my wife said they were too chewy for her and left the balance of the rack for me. We split the brisket sandwich — which I ordered with their sweet BBQ sauce. Again, the sandwich was tasty but not fall apart tender. There were several big pieces of brisket in the sandwich which sort of pulled out of the sandwich when you bit into them. Flavor was good /sandwich overall was only fair to good. Like the ribs, I got most of the brisket sandwich. The pulled pork was the best of the 3 items I ordered. I ordered the pulled pork with the mustard BBQ sauce. It was pull apart tender and had a decent smoky taste but I can’t honestly give it more than a 3-star rating. As for the sides. I ordered small sizes of the baked beans, potato salad and the mac and cheese: The potato salad was decent but was more reminiscent of what you get in the deli at the grocery store than what you’d expect at a BBQ joint. Very unremarkable potato salad. The baked beans were pretty decent and had a nice amount of pulled pork mixed in. I’d give them a solid 3 star. The mac and cheese was the best of the 3 sides and was very good. Finally — the prices. The 1st thing you need to remember is that this is a drive-thru and — aside from some picnic tables out in the grass — this is not a sit-down restaurant. There is no «inside» place /no waiters or waitresses and no table service — this is purely a drive-thru. That said, the prices seemed high. My order came to $ 44 which — in and of itself wasn’t bad. Except for the fact that this is as high or higher than the prices for the same quantity of BBQ served a restaurant with inside seating and basic things like tables and chairs. The price seems VERYHIGH for a drive-thru BBQ place. My overall recommendation is that Barbeque Shack is over-priced and that the food is far from exceptional. There are many better choices for BBQ within a few miles.

Stopped on the way home from my sisters. It was pretty good, nothing spectacular. Got the pulled pork and the brisket. Could have used some more sauce.

I was pretty excited to go here yesterday even though it meant suffering through Polaris shopping. I figured I’d make the best of a mall trip and swing over to the Barbeque Shack(it’s really not THAT close to the mall, maybe 10 min East). It’s in the most peculiar spot, right in the middle of a strip mall parking lot, behind some gas stations, but it was pretty neat in a way. All I can say is that there needs to be more drive up barbeque in general, because it’s such a fantastic concept. I know it’s not the ideal meal to eat while driving, but luckily the girlfriend was with me, so I made her drive while I chomped down on some ribs. The ribs were pretty damn tasty. The bbq sauce was great, and they were a decent size, especially for $ 11 a half rack. They weren’t the most tender ribs I’ve ever had, but they were good enough to get me to come back. I wasn’t a fan of the 8 oz glass diet Coke bottle I received though. If I’m going to be paying for a drink, you may as well give me something a little bigger. Oh well, I probably don’t need to be drinking much soda anyway. If this place was closer to VV, I’d probably be back there every other day just to try the other meats they have on the menu. I’m sure if I’m in the area though, I’m bound to make a pit stop here again.

I am so glad the BBQ Shack is here! It’s close to home and delicious. I just attended the jazz and rib fest and sampled 6 different award winning ribs. The BBQ Shack is as good or better than everything I tried there. We’ve tried most of the sides(fries, corn, baked beans and mac ‘n cheese). They are all great but the mac ‘n cheese and baked beans blew my mind. The pulled pork sandwich on homemade bun is my favorite but you can’t go wrong with the ribs or brisket. The hot BBQ sauce is great. My wife doesn’t eat red meat but she loved the pineapple chicken breast sandwich and the ¼ chicken. We also enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables in the lawn by the hut. My only constructive criticisms are: 1. Limited drink menu — no diet soda and no beer. I’m thinking about bringing my own next time to enjoy at a picnic table. 2. I’ve ordered a full rack twice and both times the large end of the rack was a little tuff. 3. We’ve been twice and both times something was missed in the order. Beans and extra sauce once and extra sauce the second time. Do your stomach a huge favor and check this place out!

The long review: I am happy to say that Westerville has a great local barbecue joint! I drove up to the drive-thru of a small«shack» as they had a line of walk up patrons on one of two order windows. My first thought was they must have some good bbq. I also caught their«low and slow» motto hoping they mean what they print. I ordered the pulled pork with slaw sandwich and fresh fries to go(I know what you’re thinking — to go? Are you crazy?!? Who does a to go review?!? Answer: Me). They took my order and since«fresh cook fries take time», said the friendly greeter. I pulled to the side after paying allowing others in queue to order. When I did I noticed an arrangement of wire tables on a patio and wooden picnic tables in a grass lot. They have a pile of wood that I suspect helps to make the magic happen in their kitchen. The site over all looks good albeit hidden from every major road(in a lot behind a Wendy’s). On a beautiful day or evening(Wednesdays play live jazz I was told) I could see having a great meal outdoors here and enjoying some music. I get my order and I quickly ran home to devour what smelled amazing in a neatly wrapped bag. I opened to find that they make their own rolls(bonus) that are sliced open and piled high with beautiful pulled pork(they don’t skimp) and decorated with slaw. I ordered sauce on the side to try all(3) — mustard, sweet and hot. The sandwich was delicious and not salty like some other common BBQs in the area. Priced at about $ 6 this is a steal. The fries were good and $ 3 but I think the drive home hurt their fresh cooked flavor as they were a little soggy being trapped in the bag(my bad). I’d get them again for sure as I’m sure they are amazing when not tortured in a to go bag. Each BBQ sauce was great too. Although my idea of hot is a little more than many and found it to lack kick but still preferred it over the others and it will remain my go to sauce. I stuffed my face enjoying every bite and eating loose pork in the container(it’s that good). Barbecue Shack has amazing BBQ and the roll is really the hidden secret to all of this. It shows attention to the details — they could’ve skimped with a store roll but they didn’t. Good call on their part as it really helps separate them from the others even more. Get some delicious local BBQ now! The short review: Delicious, local BBQ that really does take their«low and slow» of BBQ seriously and we thank them for it. Homemade rolls are game changers to this joint. This was my first visit to the quaint little Shack but certainly not my last. Give them a try you will certainly not be disappointed.

This is what I’m talking about — a real good old boy BBQ Shack! Seems like a simple concept — everything smoked on the premises, sides made every day, everything made to order. No frills, just great BBQ. Could see smoke and smell BBQ before I even got there! It’s kinda hidden behind a Wendy’s and some other buildings but it sits in its own little oasis! Even though its only been open a few weeks, I’ve had about everything. They have the meat staples down — brisket, pork, ribs, corn, chicken — they also offer turkey legs and a few other items not usually found at BBQ joints, and I’m told some seasonal offerings will be forthcoming(grilled sweet corn right now!!). First off, the brisket — nicely rubbed and great smokey, meaty flavor. Moist and served on a great bun — not the soft, «wonderbread» bun a lot of places give you, but a nice homemade bun that held up to the sauce and meaty juices. The pulled pork was also spot-on with the same spicy-smokey flavor that is in the brisket, lean, juicy and hot. Both delicious. The sides were good, I’ve had the tater salad and beans(with lots of bits of BBQ meat and fat for flavor). Staff tells me everything is made each day so when its out, its out!!! The best thing I’ve had so far were the ribs — great spicy/smokey flavor, but tender and meaty. The rub was tasty but did not overwhelm the meat. Could really taste the meat through the smoke and rub and they were really tender, juicy and sauced appropriately. Slap yo momma good!!! Kind of a new concept of «drive through» BBQ. Due to the«made to order» nature of this place, I had to wait a couple minutes in line, but it was well worth the short wait. They have a walk-up window and picnic tables around if you want to eat there. The staff told me that there is a jazz band outside on Wednesday nights, another pleasant twist on the normal BBQ joint in town. The place is really new, but the BBQ already belongs with the best in town, the ribs are as good as I’ve had anywhere else. Nothing not to like about this joint. I’ll drive through whenever I’m in the area!
