Poor service very over priced and the food was not good at all. Would not recommend. The resteraunt is nice, and I like all the hard wood but I just can’t say I liked the food and everything is very pricey

I have been there many times last night I went in for a hamburger it used to be a hand made pattie now it is a frozen quarter pound pattie service is great but they are is scrimping on the food and it shows being in the the business I will say they are struggling and they are cutting corners on food they will not survive

When you walk in you’ll notice a smell. Its not horrible but its also a little off. You’ll notice the same smell on the food they serve you. I think a lot of their food is frozen. Salmon tasted freezer burnt. Even my kids chicken nuggets were fowl and rubbery. On a positive note the broccoli and asparagus were good. While sitting there and looking around I pictured Gordon Ramsey in the corner making smug faces as plates of crap were served to him. I really wonder what gems one would find in the kitchen.

Definitely had a better experience than expected! We were there for a friend’s birthday party with a big group of about 13 people. As we walked in, there was a weird chemical-y smell that didn’t bode well, and I have to admit I pre-judged a bit from the less-than-enthusiastic reviews on here. But! The appetizers we ordered came out: fried pickles and spinach & artichoke dip, and both tasted fine, pretty average. The wait time wasn’t too bad considering there were so many of us. The house salads were big and had mozzarella and olives, I was sad my entrée didn’t come with one. The entrees looked great as they came out, and no one was disappointed with their food– I had the french dip and garlic mashed potatoes, and both were delicious. Also tried a bite of the meatloaf, which had a very heavy sausage flavor, but was overall pretty good. I was impressed that there was Listerine in the women’s bathroom, that was a nice touch! Overall, this place has hearty food for affordable prices, and while it might not be a destination restaurant, it’s not a bad choice if you’re in the area.

We visited friends and had a lovely dinner at Wendells Pub. The prime rib was great and Jen our sever was super. Also had the apple pecan pie, a great way to finish a perfect evening.

I feel bad even writing this. This place used to be a good neighborhood pub. Good food, good service with lots of options. I know they are getting a lot of competition from other places nearby but they really have gone downhill. It reminds me now of the show on the food channel where they have to send in an expert to save them. Bad food, bad ambiance, plenty of better places nearby that are better. Looks to me like they are in a death spiral. Too bad!

Probably one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. Just all around bad. Walked in and were told that we needed a reservation. It’s a pub… who would make a reservation at a neighborhood pub plus there were plenty of open tables. So we agreed to eat outside. Waitress seemed very bothered by our presence. Brought some drinks but the alcoholic ones took forever. She rushed us through ordering for no reason. When I thought the food was due to come out, she came and said they were out of linguini, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. She didn’t know if there were other side dishes to substitute nor did she have a menu to look at to order something else. She also didn’t know if the rest of the food was ready. After reordering, the food came out. The burgers are a frozen patty. You know the ones with the fake sear marks about ½ inch thin. She was also out of ketchup. Just bad service and bad food. Kids meals were inedible.

Food was bland but our second waitress was very nice. Yes, second waitress. Our first waitress was rude to everyone at our entire table and thought nothing of it. A person at our table asked for mashed potatoes and was told they were out of them. So they asked if they would be making any more and the waitress said no and if the person wanted anymore she could go help make them in the kitchen. That they were too busy to make any. Another person asked what else could be substituted and the waitress said read the side dishes on the menu that she had to go to another table. That is unacceptable no matter where you go to dinner. Not returning to Wendell’s anytime soon. Food wasn’t worth it.

We had about $ 18 remaining on a gift card, so we decided to use it one night. There was a sign posted saying they no longer accept the«old» gift cards. Not knowing if ours was one of the«old» cards, we showed it to our server and asked her if we would be able to use it. She said yes, and that they had someone in recently trying to use a paper gift certificate and they were not able to accept those anymore. Ok, great. When she took our payment, the manager came over and said we would not be able to use the gift card. He said the previous owners had given their friends $ 1000 gift cards, so they had to stop accepting the old cards because they were losing money on them. Understandable, but you could clearly look up our card and see the original value was $ 50, and we were only trying to use the remaining $ 18. We also were told by the server that we could use it, even after asking about the sign. The manager said, «I’ll go ahead and give you a really nice discount for the inconvenience». Ok, that seemed like a nice gesture, until we get our bill and were given $ 5 off. Sleazy business practice, and it’s a wonder the place was not busy at all on a Saturday night.

caution to all Gluten Free eaters i was told an item was GF by the server, but after a trip to the hospital in the middle of the night and a call to the chef the next day, I discovered it was not. I would not consider this a Gluten Free Friendly restaurant for Columbus diners.

Would love to say our meal was great but it wasn’t. We debated about where to go for lunch and decided on Wendell’s because it was close. I almost suggested that we leave after waiting 10 minutes for our drinks(water and lemonade). Eventually she did drop them off and said that she would be right back to take our order. That«right back» turned into another 10 minutes. The food was really sub par. I should point out that we have eaten here before with much larger groups at night and had a decent experience. Today, it seemed that everything was wrong. It was even small things like a 8 top next to us had left before we got there and they still had not cleared the table by the time we left. I will not be excited to head back.

I typically love Wendell’s, but I finally had a bad meal today. My friend and I decided to try their $ 5.00 lunch specials. She got fish tacos and said the fish tasted“bad”. I got the potato/ham casserole which was just a dish of greasy, over done home fries with a few flecks of ham. All I could taste was the potatoes. We were both disappointed. I guess I’ll go back to their wonderful fish and chips! Excellent service!

It’s gone down hill. This used to be our favorite restaurant. Not any more. We went at 11; 00pm on Sunday. Out waiter had such bad body order it turned our stomachs. We should have just left. We didn’t. The servers we having a loud conversation with the bartender, who may have been a manager. They complained about being short handed and so on. The food arrived and things got worse. I have had wings there 50 times over the years. These sat in a pool of grease. The rest of my family’s food was in various states of being under cooked and cold. There’s the owner or anyone who care? Nobody even touched the food and the smell waiter never asked if there was a problem. He just dropped off a $ 55.00 check and walked away. We are finished with this place. I’m not sure if the same person owns Wenddells, but it is a mess

We popped in here for a Friday night dinner, there was a brief wait(20 minutes at 7pm on a Friday). We were seated at a high top in the open bar area. There are numerous tvs everywhere so you can look at something other than you date without them noticing. :-) We both ordered sandwiches, I had the steak sandwich which was quite good. The steak was cooked to order and is a solid entry on the menu. The boy had the Italian sub which he enjoyed although there are better versions at other places in town. Overall, the food is your standard neighborhood bar fare, solid but not spectacular. However, we both were incredibly surprised by the drinks. We paid 6.50 for two pints of Guinness. No, it was not happy hour. We may not be back for the food but we will be back for drinks here.

Wendell’s is your typical suburban pub. While the food is adequate, it is also uninspired. If you are looking for a sandwich it will suffice, but I wouldn’t bring a date. I will say that the brunch is pretty good. Its an ok place to have after dinner or after work drinks, but it seems that you must be a regular to receive adequate service. My biggest problem with Wendell’s is the beer selection. It is like only people who drink crappy American light lagers are welcome here. If you are 50 year old yuppie who lives in the Maxtown area then Wendell’s is for you, but people interested in good food/good beer need not waste their time or money.

American bar food that is just a bit exhausting. There is nothing really above average here… the service, the food, the drinks or the prices. I’m not sure if anything is necessarily bad here either, but certainly not memorable and I feel like I can get everything they offer at any corner American bar. If you go here and have a burger(which has been over cooked regularly here) and a beer you may not be upset with the place, but there is just nothing here that gets me in the doors.

Below satisfactory service and average tasting foo — not particularly good for larger groups. The scenario — reservation for a group of 16 on a busy Saturday evening ~6pm. Warning — be prepared to be there for at least 2.5 hours! The table was ready as scheduled, but everything else was slow. Had the waiter recognized he needed assistance early on, all might have been spared cold food, long waits for refills, and excessive time for checking out and lack of charge explanations. The food — I ordered soup as an appetizer and a Reuben for my entrée with steak fries and ranch dressing for dipping. My soup came out with everyone’s meals. I had our server send it back. His explaned that all hot items were being served together. I think he made that up becuase other people recieved their hot appetizers(japeno bites and fried pickles) ahead of time. My food was served hot. My Rueben was a decent Rueben — nothing special and too little thousand island dressing. The steak fries were nicely crispy, but needed more ranch dressing. However, most guests ordered the prime rib. While no one sent it back for being under or over cooked, many guests complained that their food was luke warm, including their prime rib, mashed potatoes or sides. When we asked for extra bread(seriously only 12 pices for 16 guests!), the one who asked was charged extra! The bill — It took at least a half hour from the time the last guest finished eating until the waiter brought the first check. He failed to inform guests of the most common curtesies — 18% gratuity, and extra charges for items. The waiter didn’t feel comfortable just giving us our checks, he gave us «pre-checks»(and another time delay). These checks didn’t include the gratuity(which is expected with large groups) — so many guests paying cash had to calculate it themselves. For those paying by credit card — it was unclear that it was already included since we had one itemized bill sans gratuity, and one final bill non-itemized. Also, I received a charge for the side of ranch and another guest was charged extra for requesting more bread. The service — Slower than molassis. He didn’t even attempt to keep up with water refills and never once did he ask if anyone needed a refill. Instead we had to ask everytime we saw him. He never thought to take surveys of the table and see if anyone else needed something. He could have avoided a lot of back and forth. I’m not sure if it’s Wendell’s policy that all waiters act independently, but he seriously needed some help. I“m not likely to return, unless another group decides this is the best meeting place.

Great local drinking hole/eatery the dining room isn’t massive but the food is good. My recommendation is the fish and chips. The fish is lightly breaded and delicious. The service is great and the staff is very friendly.

I don’t come here for the food and when someone is smoking on the patio, I go inside to the bar(be warned; you can’t get away from it no matter where you sit on the patio). BUT, I do continue to come here for the service, the happy hour(which starts BACK up again at 9 p.m.) and the patio. The service is consistently friendly and I dig that. The menu isn’t amazing, but it isn’t trying to be amazing. The crowd here is also interesting(?) — certain times of the day the average age of the patrons is 67 yrs and at other times its 37 yrs. I think the older crowd stops by after their 18 holes and before 5 p.m. mostly. The happy hour menu is limited but the pricing is good. All of it tastes A-OK paired with a cold beverage on the patio, served up by a smiley server.
