Cosimos for my money is the best Italian food place in the area. The service is great. The menu is loaded with variety and good specials and they do seafood and pasta especially well. Next time someone says let’s go to Ferraros walk further down the street and save 20 dollars and go to Cosimos.

Wonderful Italian experience overlooking the bustling winter streets of Westfield. My parents took me out to dinner here. I had the Caprese salad with grilled chicken, not a morsel left on my plate. Italian hummus for mother, the Black Ocean for papa, which is black truffle linguine with scallops, mussels, and shrimp. I forgot how delicious they prepare everything here, and quite affordable if you’re looking to impress on a budget. Five stars!

Great service, and I mean great. Food excellent, with excellent prices. I had mushroom/chicken risotto. It was excellent. Rest of family had: 2 different kinds of salads, they really liked them. Chicken Caesars wrap; very tasty; and individual pizza, also excellent. Nice atmosphere.

Finally! A pasta dish that is flavorful and NOT salty. Thank you, thank you. I had a simple spaghetti with meat sauce and it was really delicious. Only 3 stars because the bread was unacceptable. It came first and I thought about cancelling the meal BECAUSE how good can an Italian Restaurant be if the bread is awful. I am glad I stayed because the sauce was good, but next time I will BMOB(bring my own bread).

Sitting outside… a Summer evening… the food we ordered was fine. We ate light, an antipasto and Ceasar salad with the eggplant rollatini. Service was a little harried due to the place being busy. I would recommend.

My wife and I love this restaurant. The honey calamari appetizer is the best and we have never been disappointed in our dinners. We find the service outstanding and tonight we were once again lucky to have the best server. Her name is Nina and she is fantastic! I guarantee she brings repeat business to this restaurant with her attentiveness to diners. I highly recommend this place for an evening out.

Amazing! The food, the service, the atmosphere and location are fantastic! I’m so glad I came here for dinner with my friends. Nina was such a great waitress; I’ll be requesting her next time I’m in. In the mood for wonderful, homemade Italian cuisine or good ol’ fashion pizza? This is your place! And don’t forget to have the fried cheesecake! It’s unbelievable!

Something special happened at Cosimo’s… my family hosted my baby shower at the restaurant. It was spectacular! The FOOD was DYNAMITE, as well as the service and ambiance. It was great! What made this an an extra special day was that management helped me to surprise my family and have a pop-up wedding! My secret was kept safe and it was a complete hit and total surprise. Thank you Angela and the Cosimo crew for helping to pull it off. The afternoon was filled with an energy and love that was undeniable. It was simply perfect. I would suggest Cosimo’s for their outstanding food as well as a really nice space for any party. The location works very well for any groups traveling in from NYC. Yes, I have eaten here on a few occasions and the chicken is very very good… but any restaurant that can pull off a good brocolli rabe gets an A+ from me!

My husband and I have been here several times and I love! The food is always great and so is the service. Our biggest issue is the noisy setting. Not noisy in a the«Loud music, people talking» way but noisy as in «children screaming and moving all about» way. If you are able to visit while the weather is nice, you can choose to be seated outside where you can avoid some/most of the noise. At our last visit the bread was fresh and warm. Our meals were delicious. My husband had the grilled salmon in a Honey Bourbon Teriyaki Glaze that he loved(he is a VERY picky). I had the scallops.

I came to Cosimo’s with a bunch of my girlfriends last night and we had a great time. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and romantic. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We never felt rushed or abandoned. They have a byob policy which i love since buying wine in restaurants can easily double the bill. Anyway on to the food. I ordered the tre color salad with grilled salmon on top. Everything is the salad was crisp and fresh. The grated parm added a nice salty element in between the acidic balsamic dressing. The salmon was grilled perfectly, i like a little char on my salmon. The outside in some spots had a good crunch but it wasnt dry at all. Everything else at the table looked great! I will definitely be back. They are very accomodating for large groups.

Was in town staying across the street at the Days Inn. I walk through this charming town and found this outstanding Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was superb, and overall it was a great experience. It tastes like authentic Northern Italian food with sweet sauce flavor. The garlic bread was great, the baked ziti was among the best I ever had. Everything looked and smelled delicious.

First let me preface by saying I’ve been coming to Cosimo’s for many, many years. I remember the original Cosimo’s which was small and had worn booths and chairs. The food used to be outstanding! I decided to return to Cosimo’s. I’m so sorry I did. My daughter and I came for a late lunch. We were seated right away which was good but we waited over 20 minutes to be acknowledged by a waiter. No water was ever served to us. It wouldn’t be so bad if the restaurant was busy but it wasn’t. Lots of empty tables. The staff is too busy standing around talking.(see pictures.) Finally after asking a waiter for some service a girl by the name of Rachel came over. She was very nice. She asked if anyone helped us I told her NO! She took our drink order and we waited awhile to get our drinks. I told her we were ready to order. I placed our order which was lobster bisque soup, house salad, and a large eggplant and onion pizza. Again, we waited awhile for our food. I noticed a lot of the staff was standing around talking instead of paying attention to the customers. My daughter who orders out lobster bisque at many restaurants said her soup tasted like tomato soup. She didn’t like it. My house salad was good, no complaints. Our pizza finally arrived. At first I thought it looked good but once we both tasted it the pizza had absolutely no flavor. The eggplant was greasy. We thought they would have breaded and fried it like other pizza places do which makes it crispy. There was no taste of any spices what so ever. It tasted very flat and nondescript . I was very surprised b/c Cosimo’s was always known for delicious pizza and chicken, cutlet Parm sandwiches. I don’t know if it’s the same owner or what. Our waitress asked us if everything was ok. I told her I am a gourmet cook and make my own pizza from scratch dough and all but this pizza needed spices like garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and grated cheese. I don’t think they taste their own food b/f sending it out! Everyone knows eggplant is a sponge and if it isn’t salted first then it will absorb tons of oil unless it is breaded and fried. Eggplant also needs major seasoning to have great flavor! Rachel apologized to her credit, and said she was sorry. After a few minutes of deciding that we couldn’t eat this pizza without grated cheese and garlic powder I asked another waiter if he could get us some. He said yes and walked away. 15 minutes passed no garlic powder or grated cheese appeared.(a lot of the staff speak broken English I think he might not of understood me.) I then flagged down another waiter who did bring us what we asked for. It helped a little My daughter only ate one piece and then added garlic powder and grated cheese to 2nd piece. After taking a bite she put the pizza down and said I’m done this is gross. she said ‘I don’t ever want to come back here.’ I did pack up the pizza b/c once home I was hoping to salvage it. Not sure if I can. I showed the Unilocal coupon to my waitress. She was not familiar with it and said she had to check on it. Eventually Rachel came back with my bill and the discount was on it. I think the staff needs better training. I watched as some people came in and asked to sit at a certain table b/c they were a group. They were told NO they couldn’t sit there. No smiles on any of the staff especially the older hostess. She looked very stressed! The place itself is decorated very nice, the two sided fireplace was a nice touch. The place looks great inside after the remodeling. Maybe with better training and major adjustments on the pizza this place can once again be good. For now I don’t recommend it!

Very surprised at the 2 star rating… just don’t get it at all actually. The décor is great… moderate, clean, comfortable and inviting. The service is good… nothing special but nothing to complain about. The food is very good. The chicken & veal parm is their specialty… and it’s wonderful. Also, we’ve had the Chicken Francaise which is fantastic… tasty, fresh, tender. One of my very favorite things is their roasted pear salad… amazing flavors and completely unique. Prices seem just right… Again, I don’t get the awful reviews at all.

I was very worried going in based on the Unilocal reviews I read beforehand. On the other hand, I knew several people who had been here before and liked the place. I am pleased to say I to liked, although not loved, the place. Let’s call it a lukewarm 4. In order: The basket of bread was not particularly fresh but I ate it anyway. My Panzanella Salad while very tasty was nothing like the Panzanellas I have had elsewhere where it is dominated by tomatoes and bread. Their version was a chopped salad over a crust of bread. It was good but not the salad I was looking for. At a menu price of $ 12, it appears to be high but can easily be shared by 2 people. We ordered the Honey BBQ Chipotle Calamari for the table and that was excellent albeit a very small portion. For my main course, I had Black Ocean which is black linguini surrounded by seafood. The portion was extremely large and tasty. However, it was not evenly heated throughout as the pasta part was hot, but the seafood was lukewarm Two members of our party had the tilapia special and said it was excellent. The dish was supposed to be served over polenta but they told us they were out of polenta. Kind of strange since the dish was a special and it was only 8PM on a Saturday night. Our 4th member had the chicken saltimboca and enjoyed it. Service was fine. Overall the place is somewhere between a 3 and a 4. I am giving it the benefit of the doubt because I felt it far surpassed its posted ratings. And yes, I would go back.
