came here on a sunday morning while attending a Judo tournament at the nearby high school Westminster High School. Dropped off my wife and daughter to register while I went to get breakfast. Was craving a chorizo breakfast burrito and as I driving just saw this place while I was at a stop light so decided to go as it was closest to the school. Parking lot was empty although not may spaces. Sign on the front said open. I was a bit hesitant since there was not one in there and it was opened at 7AM and now about 9:30AM. I went inside and was greeted by the cashier and placed my order for two chorizo breakfast burritos. Being from San Diego/Chula Vista, CA area, I’ve had my share of Mexican food and know what’s good. Went ahead and paid and she gave my containers to put my sauce and a bag for other stuff. They have a salsa bar and also fresh cucumbers, raddish and pickled carrots. The place was clean and very colorful. Waited about 5mins or so and my burritos were ready. I did appreciate that they wrapped my burritos in foil to keep them hot. The lady said thank you and have a good day. So far so good. I finally got to back to the High School to meet up with everyone attending the tournament. Gave one to my wife and daughter the share and the other for myself. Burritos were still nice and hot. I took a few bites but felt that it was lacking flavor. The eggs and chorizo were cooked but it also had potatoes also but it was very mushy. Not sure if they use the potatoes as a filler but I was not expecting that in my burrito. All the times I’ve had a chorizo burrito, they’ve never added potatoes unless requested. My wife and daughter both agreed also that it was lacking flavor. We tried to put some of the salsa but did really make much difference. To be fair this is my first time at this establishment and only reviewing for their Chorizo burrito which did not meet my expectations and for $ 5.99 I probably would have been better off at Jack in the Box and had their breakfast burrito combo with a drink. Would I try this place again, maybe if I’m in the area.

I’ve only been here once, since it’s on the other side of WM, but glad we stopped in. The décor is cute, hand painted furniture with classic Mexican art. It’s a small place with not a lot of seating, so I can imagine how crowded it could be at lunch hour. They have a menu in Español and English. Lots of food, mostly omnivore, but you can find or request veggie. The fountain drink machine was out of order, but they carry Jarritos and Coke products in a fridge and Orange Olé, Horchata, and Jamaica in a separate fountain. The Jamaica was yummy. The chips, unfortunately, we’re not authentic, but prepackaged tortilla chips. Salsa was good.

We stopped going here because my husband usually gets their regular grilled chicken and THAT is almost always dry! The quality really varies from day to day. It’s either dry or extra dry. We don’t buy at the end of the day so it can’t be dried out chicken sitting around all day long. I don’t know what it is but its dry! The 4 stars is because they have something unique for me – my favorite chicken: the ajo – spicy garlic chicken. They must marinate the chicken for hours because it’s so spicy, garlicky and flavorful all over. It’s so good! Also excellent is their flour tortilla. Wow. Looks and tastes homemade. Their rice and beans are normal. Not special but good.

Was driving to freeway but was hungry from some tacos and decided to drop in, was lunch time but not alot of people in. Got the 2 taco combo with rice & beans. Came with free tortilla chips and that was a plus. Drinks are 2.29 for reg size, so lunch came out to just over 9 bucks. I ordered the carnitas and when they came, soft, tender and moist. Was great. Mexican rice had peas and carrots in it, a nice plus. Beans were very good. Went to the salsa bar and got the regular red sauce with some spicy carrots. Both salsa and carrots not to hot but still good flavor. First time in, worthy of a second visit when in the neighborhood.

I gotta say anywhere that has homemade flower tortillas gets 3 stars to start but there gorditas are so bomb. And if you happen to go bye on a weekend you can catch them with bbq out front doing chicken, and they aren’t cheap at the salsa bar they got it all, can’t wait to go back

Barely made into the restaurant 15 minutes before closing time and the person at the register still gladly attended us. While we waited for our food I went out to the restrooms which are outside in the back and it was surprisingly clean. We got our carne asada tacos and burritos to go and we eve got some chips and extra salsas with out order. Will be coming back to try out the rest of their food.

When I’m craving Ensenada-style fish tacos. El Pico de Gallo is my go-to spot! Eating them fresh and ASAP is the best way to eat them. Wrapped in two tortillas, the fish is perfectly battered, lightly fluffy and crisp. I prefer mine with no cabbage, just pico de gallo salsa, lime, mild red salsa and light on the dressing. Mmmm… every bite takes me back to Baja. They also have awesome ceviche de pescaso(fish)!

We just moved and are checking out hole-in-the-wall joints to add to our list of go-to spots. Good amount of parking. Service was friendly. The dining area décor was fun and colorful. We ordered a pollo burrito and a carne asada burrito with a side of guacamole to go, with a 5-minute drive to home. Both burritos were nicely wrapped in foil over paper. The side of guacamole was generous. Guy said his pollo burrito was good, but I was completely underwhelmed. My burrito felt floppy soon as it was unwrapped. Turns out, the tortilla held an overwhelming amount of rice to everything else — easily 2⁄3 of the whole. The red rice was mushy and lacked any flavor except a bit of sweetness from tomatoes, though it was interesting that the mix contained peas. Added their salsa and lime to compensate, but I still got sick of the meal within five bites and gave up on it just over halfway. On to the next adventure then.

I decided to come here because it’s closer to my house than Hot off the Grill and they have huevos rancheros here. Décor is nice inside. It made me almost want to stay and eat my meal at the restaurant. There’s good lighting. The staff was nice. She was polite and smiled and that’s all you can really ask for. The menu is huge! They have nearly 100 combos up on the wall, with just a few blacked out being no longer available, I guess. The important stuff! My meal! — The rice. The texture was great, it was nice and fluffy and looked good, but was bland. No real taste. However, adding the mild salsa to it made it awesome. I could have gobbled up a whole lot more with that salsa added to it. So I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. It was still hot by the time I got home(less than 5 minutes later). — The beans. A little greasy, you could tell by looking at the layer on top, but had good flavor. Not hot, but warm. By the time I finished my meal they were cold. But I did enjoy them. — The tortillas. I opted for flour. They were hot and seemed freshly made! They were not just taken out of a bag and microwaved. Tasty! Four flour tortillas was the perfect amount. — My eggs and ranchero sauce. Yummy! I love eggs. And there were strips of cooked jalapeño, I believe, on top. The fried tortilla under the eggs was soggy, of course, and didn’t really have a crunch anymore. But it was all good. :) — Free chips with my order since it was more than $ 5.(Came to $ 7 something with tax.) The salsa bar is impressive and the chips were good and warm. Not too salty. My favorite type of tortilla chip. And really good salsa! I’d give the meal a 3.6÷5. Would eat again. I love eggs. :D

I love this place. I seemed to go for something each week. Fresh tortillas that you can buy raw or cooked & take them home to enjoy. I have yet to get something that wasn’t yummy. I definitely recommend that you try this place out.

I think they’re great. I ordered two chicharrones gorditas and two pork n potatoes ones and they were excellent. Their salsas and pickled jalapeños were excellent. They have a cute dining area that’s a bit over the top with Mexican pride… But I love the food here. Even the chips are freshly made and fabulous. Ignore that the front appearance isn’t so becoming and stop in to try.

Lunch with Pops is always enlightening. We’ve been to some places, seen some things, and most importantly, enjoyed some good meals together. He often shares stories about his youth on the farm. They used to keep meat in the town ice house. His days in the Navy. They didn’t always sound an alarm before test firing cannons. Or his racy greaser days in Pomona sprinting the quarter mile in his 54 Ford Willys. The man even owned a Chevron Gas station at the end of the HB Pier. There were no curbs along PCH and two wheel drives stuck in the sand were always in need of a tow truck back then. Who knew? Pops did. All this leads me to El Pico De Gallo Taqueria. Pops and I ventured into this joint together on an overcast afternoon, and while it was pale and stale outside it was fragrant and fresh inside. Sure, it’s exterior décor doesn’t give it the allure of a 5 star restaurant. Sure, it’s a rather low brow remodel of an old KFC, but the food is good, reasonably priced and the service is prompt for a busy weekday lunch rush. I had the chicken enchiladas, and pops had the steak tacos. Served with beans and rice, go figure. Paired with a decent salsa bar, everything washed down well with my horchata. The menu is relatively extensive with breakfast, seafood, soups, even burgers for your friends who don’t like Mexican food. Que pasa bro, not down with the brown?
