Went by recommendation of a friend who came here two years ago and said James cut her hair just like the image she showed him.
I went in on a lim. Not the most impressive area and it’s definitely a smaller and more subdued salon, but James worked magic.
I showed him a photo of shoulder length hair that framed the face with wispy layers. He only looked at the photo twice and I walked out with practically the same hair.
He compared the qualities of her hair with mine and worked to get my frizzy, thin, boxy blunt haircut into something that frames the face and looks beautiful! I’ve never had a good haircut like this before.
It was pretty professional with James. No small talk, I just watched him work his magic. I trusted him when he identified the problem with my hair (it being too boxy from a grown out blunt cut) and when he said he would layer it to bring it to my face.
Super happy with it. I just went in for a simple cut. He forgot to put in a serum he said he would, but I forgot to remind him. Nothing was really added to my hair. Nonetheless, I’m super happy with the cut, giving this place a ⁵⁄₅! I will definitely be back for James. Quick and skilled. This is the one!

Service was still below grade even though I gave the place a second chance. Main gripe with this place is if you complain about the credit card fee you will get the cold shoulder treatment. So put up or shut up or don’t give them your business if you don’t feel they deserve it!

Didn’t feel welcome and paid $ 18 for a horrible hair cut. All I wanted was two inches off and this old man, who was very sweet, had no idea how to cut hair. I asked for an oval shape and he left a 1in blunt difference between the front of my hair to the back. I feel like I have the beginnings of a mullet. Never going back there again.

After searching on Unilocal I decided to give James a tried. I showed up on time for my appointment, but he was still working on another client. So one of the lady wash my hair, she really took her time but probably to kill some time for James. After washing, two ladies blow dry my hair. I’ve never had my hair blow dry before it was cut. I sat around reading magazine before James finally cut my hair. I do have to agree with one of the Unilocal reviewer, he’s not the best person if you want your bangs cut. I did show a pic of how I wanted my hair, and he went to cut my bangs before I could stop him. It’s wasn’t my desired length or the style of bang I wanted. How my hair was layered it was not to my liking. He did take his time on styling it after he finished but before leaving I already knew it wasn’t the result I wanted. I ended up going home and had to fix my bang. I wanted to go pay someone else to have them fix my hair again. I wish i had great review as the other Unilocaler.

My hair is pretty simple, short and neat. I don’t need anything complex but to get it to the right length where it looks the part can be a bit tricky. This salon has given me great results over the last 3 visits at a more than reasonable price. They take their time, they cut right, and they shampoo your hair and give you a nice scalp massage in the process. Will come back again even after I moved away from the area

I really like James. He seems so honest and nice. Best of all, its such a bargain compared to other places. It’s clean and everyone is friendly. I got a good head massage and was so worth it. Definitely I’m coming back!

I’m very pissy when it comes to my bangs. They’re like a big pimple on your nose. Everyone will focus on it! And since it’s my focal point, I’d want them a specific (perfect) length and a certain thickness/​style.
Let’s just say my trim didn’t come out how I wanted. I wanted that nice Taylor swift style bangs and I got very thin mushroom head type bangs.
If you want your blunt bangs cut, don’t come to James. Also, the price has risen a measly dollar.

Professional service, nice people. But make sure you get tye blade change before the shave. Over all very polite and courteous

Friendly workers and good service at a nice, little hair salon. Make an appointment with James, and you won’t feel disappointed after leaving the place. I always get a trim, layers, and side bangs, and James does a consistently great job of cutting my hair. For a good haircut in 20 – 25 minutes that’s about $ 18 plus tip (prices vary for men, women, etc.), you should check out the place!

Been coming to here for 7 years and finally I’m putting this review. For the price and great friendly service and good hair do for me, it’s enough to get me driving my butt from Cerritos all these years. Love the place! Except I wish they open near my house would be better!

QUICK HAIRCUTS. Literally show up, 3^rd in line, and I am out of the shop within 40 minutes. The cuts (for males at least) are really quick and good. My go to place! It is VERY cheap and it even includes a shampoo wash as well.

So fresh and clean! Thanks James! I just had a 3 inch trim that was really needed. And James really listened and cut all my dead ends which was not easy for my long moisture deprived hair. His price is way cheap but I gave him a good fat tip which I never do for hairstylist. Because they usually make me more mad when I leave. Love the down to earth atmosphere and the good Chinese music! Will be coming back :)

James Salon rocks because they always give you the haircut you want for an unbeatable price. I used to gripe about having to get my haircut because I have uncooperative hair and couldn’t quite express what I wanted. Then I’d have to pay an arm and a leg for my serving of disappointment. James and the other stylists have yet to let me down and I always walk out there feeling pretty swagtastic.
TL;DR: Friendly staff, painless, affordable, convenient. Five stars.

I’ve been going James since I was a toddler. Now I’m graduating college. And there’s a reason for that.
I’m never disappointed, and I’ve been through 4 different hair styles throughout my life. He’s done all of them. For the price, it’s a steal; that’s why I usually tip more! I came here because of all the raves about James.
I was not disappointed.
I am a 57 year old white female with very thin, fine hair. He cut my hair so it looks a lot fuller than it is. I’m very happy.

James is definitely my go to for a haircut whenever I’m in town! I originally stumbled on him probably about 2 – 3 years ago when I moved down to Westminster to finish up my undergrad studies. I was in need of a haircut and had resorted to Unilocal to find the the best bang for the buck. I remember being initially overwhelmed by the plethora of choices, but eventually settled on James since it’s only $ 17 for women and $ 8 for men. I’ve been coming back ever since. I never have to tell James in detail how I want my hair cut as I usually go for the default: trim split ends, get layers, and side-​swept bangs. He does a wonderful job and I’ve always been happy with how it turns out. Although I’ve moved for graduate school, I always try to wait to come back and get my hair cut by him. He does get a little swamped at times so make sure you call and make an appointment!

My sister recommend this place so I went. James always does a good job.
Although I mostly just go to trim, my sis got like a full out haircut and she love it :)
Parking can be a hassle but over all a good place for hair cut. $ 17 for my long hair, not bad!

I have been getting excellent service here, men’s haircut including a hair rinse, for $ 8. Personable staff and a terrific value.
I can recommend Tim, he’s been taking great care of me hair.
