Fish was terrible, tasted like production line tilapia fillets. Portions were small and you had to pay for extra tartar sauce. Overall unimpressed for a cool hole in the wall shop.

Every time I’ve come here the fish and chips is pretty good only down side is the little charge for tartar sauce. Would recommend to a friend

Great quick place to get fish and chips if you are in the area. The fish is consistent, and I have yet to have a bad experience here. Whenever you enter Michael’s, you are greeted with a heartly hello. Will keep coming back for the fish and chips!

I’ll summarize by saying over priced, under seasoned/​bland food. Talk about being cheap you get one small packet of tartar sauce with your order and extra is $ 50 cents. Soda is $ 2 and refills are 85 cents.

Great selection of fried anything: fish, chips, zucchini, chicken, mushrooms, etc. Several chinese dishes, fried rice. A tiny store, family run, good prices, give it a shot when you’re craving fried won ton or whatever. It’s not gourmet but it’s good, fresh, made when you order.

My girlfriend has been coming here since she was little and introduced me to this place. I love the fish and chips they are really good the batter they use is delicious. I have never gotten «food poisoning» from this place. The guy is so nice and friendly it makes this place that much better. Haven’t tried the Chinese food so I can’t say anything about that, but if your craving so good homemade like fish chips this is the place to go.

Most every time I visit this center I stop in to Michael’s for some fish and chips. The batter that is used is very good, nice and thick and cooked perfectly. Today I also had the shrimp. As usual I was very happy with my meal. And the chef who is in there every time I go always has the friendliest smile on his face and is very polite. Customer service goes a long way with me and this guy is great! They have a fairly large selection of food including some Chinese dishes. I have yet to try anything besides the fish shrimp and chips. So if you ever get a hankering for some good fish and chips, try Michael’s.

Doesn’t even deserve a 1 star! The worse from fish & shrimp & chips I had ever had! My bubby had the Chinese food & he said it was terrible! The guy wanted to charge me .50¢ for tartar sauce? I didn’t want to pay for it so he gave me packets of tartar sauce! Seriously, what fish & chips place charges for tartar sauce until u want extra tartar sauce! I feel sick after eating there! My thing is I am willing to gave a place ONCE to try it!

I’m always in that plaza so finally decided to stop by and check it out. So glad I did! I was greeted by the owner and YES, he is HAPPY and appears to me he’s ALWAYS happy! I ordered the fried oysters & chips with the house tartar and coleslaw. They did NOT disappoint. The fries were a bit plain but the oysters and coleslaw definitely made up for it. Everything was made to order so it was all hot and fresh. Customer service was excellent and that is reason enough for me to return and support our local businesses.

I’ve been driving by this place for years and always say I’m going to try it out… I finally did and I’m beyond happy and wish I would have a long time ago.
The dude working the counter is very happy. You walk in, he immediately greets you in an upbeat way. The fish and chips is obviously the go-​to thing here. Hands down, best fish and chips I’ve had in… well… ever! They also make their own tarter sauce. Heaven in my mouth. Doing a cheat dinner and picking up the «bucket» of 15 fish and chips combo with coleslaw and a side of zucchini slices, no one will be disappointed. The coleslaw is so good! When they say zucchini, don’t expect spears. They’re 4 large zucchini coins pretty much. Good nonetheless and goes out-​of-​this-​world well with the tarter sauce. Top this bomb ass fish with some sriracha and you’ll never know what you’ve been doing with your life.

So it’s not the fanciest place in the area but it’s definitely a yummy place! Zucchini was super super yummy! At first my husband said there weren’t enough fries until he filled up on the nice portion of fish they give you! The owner/​counter worker was so beyond friendly! He alone could make me come back!

My boyfriend got the fish and chips which he said he liked but I got the chicken strips which were kinda like a really big chicken nugget. Not bad… just not what I was expecting. The owner is super friendly. I wish the food matched his attitude.

Absolutely the best fried fish I’ve ever had. The meat to batter ratio was great, the fish was quite large, not very oily, and the temperature was spot on. Warm enough to hold, but still hot on the inside.
I found the tartar sauce to be tasty, but one of the more mayo-​strong ones out there.
The chips/​fries were crispy, but bland. I’m not sure if that’s by design or not to encourage dipping in ketchup, tartar, or vinegar.
The coleslaw was fresh and delicious as well.
The downside: This place gets expensive fast and I’m not sure if it was intentional or not, but they asked if I wanted coleslaw and rang me up for a regular size without asking what size I wanted (a small would have been fine for just me) and charged $ 0.50 for the tartar sauce. So basically don’t presume anything is included. The owner/​manager (?) is energetic and nice, but finding out my total went from $ 5 to $ 8.50 at the register without much of a head’s up annoyed me a little.
Definitely try the place, but be prepared to spend closer to $ 10 than $ 5

Hole in the wall fish and chips place. the owner goes out of his way to please. The home made tater sauce is great. Dont expect much in the way of atmosphere though.

When you’re in the mood for some good ‘olé fish & chips, this is the place to go! Every time I’ve ordered the fish it is very crispy and fresh. The owner is so friendly and always very enthusiastic when you come in, you can tell he is very gratefully for his customers.
He cooks to order, so expect to sit down and wait a few minutes for your food, but I believe you can call it in if you’re in a rush. Last I checked he is open 7 days a week, whereas most fish & chip chains are closed on Sundays.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!
I know and love good fish and chips, so I thought I’d give this place a try. I was greeted by a smiley-​faced Oriental guy who couldn’t even speak broken English. He took my order, I paid him, and he told me it would be ten minutes. I came back about 7 minutes later. He came out from the back and tested the oil to see if it was hot enough to start frying! I said, «I thought you told me ten minutes. But you obviously meant it would take at least ten minutes to get the oil hot enough.»
OMG, given that it was still within the lunchtime hours, I realized that for him to have to get the oil hot, this place hadn’t prepared a meal all day! I demanded my money back and thought I would have to threaten to go to the Dept. of Health to get it, but he refunded my money without any delay.
I then left and, from most of the reviews I’ve read here, that was the smartest thing I did all day.

Yuck. No offense, but the food is gross & overpriced. I feel like I paid $ 6.45 for stale fried rice!
Next time, lesson learned, I’m gonna go to a better more well known restaurant e– or food chain… less money, more tasty food.
I ordered the beef with Brocoli. Gross Gross Dried meat. Overly sugared. Too much rice. Not chewy at all. Not worth the price I paid especially in these hard times. I am looking for the best bang for my buck. This ain’t It.
The service was personal and friendly however. That’s what the one star is for. Otherwise, I’d give it ⁰⁄₅

Service: really great guy taking my order, actually seems thrilled to see me walk in. Fired up the deep fryer and made my fish n chips fresh and quickly. 5 stars.
Fish: thick coating of batter which was fried crispy on the outside but soft and spongy on the inside. Smallish portions, definitely not the traditional cod, when I asked I was told it’s whitefish. Just okay, 2.5 stars.
Fries: 2 stars meh.
Tartar Sauce: Tasted like somebody took miracle whip and mixed in pickle relish. And he has the nerve to charge extra for this goop? 2 stars.
Inside: a small dive, didn’t seem overly dirty but clearly better to order one’s food to go. I frequently enjoy hole-​in-​the-​wall places, so this isn’t a negative for me, but said dive MUST serve better-​than-​average food or no repeat visit. As you can read, you know I won’t be returning.

I agree with Sherrill.
It was late and my husband and I were the only ones in the place. We placed our fish and chips order and the guy turned on his stove to fry the battered fish. It wasn’t greasy or soggy or overcooked. It was freshly fried batter that was still tasty when we got home.
Drinks are soda cans. Tartar sauce is definitely not typical tartar sauce but my husband, who doesn’t typically like tartar sauce, really likes it.

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of fish and chips like Kendo is, but I do like a good fish and chip meal once in a while. I didn’t expect this place to have British fish and chip quality, but I also didn’t expect this.
When I went into this little take out style shop, I was a little taken aback by the fried seafood as well as Chinese food on the menu. I just wanted a snack because I was actually going to the Fresh & Easy market next door and my blood sugar was low. I wasn’t looking for a huge meal.
I also didn’t want ‘chips’ so he offered to give me fried zucchini instead. He also tries to upsell you by offering tartare sauce (which costs extra) or a drink or something else. If you don’t want it, be firm. The tartare sauce isn’t very good… needs a lot more relish in it.
I don’t think this place is worth a visit even if you’re right there and starving. There’s a Henry’s Burgers right there as well — give that a try instead — I definitely will next time I’m in the area and starving.
