This place is really good. Best I have found I. This area. Not a fan of the spring rolls as like mine with grilled pork and there’s is more like a roasted pork. The pros is top notch!

When it comes to Phở in the Adams County area, there are two heavy hitters: Phở 79 and Saigon Phở, both within a block of each other. See my review of Saigon for further info. Right off the bat, 79 wins in ambience and location. They have a doorway with a small atrium replete with a coy pond before you enter through another door to the restaurant. This is exceedingly important during the winter time(Phở season). They main restaurant is large with high ceilings allowing you to feel privacy no matter where you sit. Their phở broth is delicious. I think it may have a slight edge on Saigon’s. They do come up somewhat short on the vermicelli noodle bowls; Saigon wins. Overall, I could come here everyday and have a medium bowl of tai. Delish. They have progressively become more and more popular at my workplace, no doubt providing them a lot of business. I will says that you should not go here expecting good service because you won’t get it. If they could perk up their customer service a bit more, they would surely get 5 stars.

Great phở. Other menu items are good to very good. Out of the 100 or more times we have eaten here we were only disappointed once. That was late on a Sunday, the veggies were in poor shape and the place needed cleaning.

Best Phở in town. However, only four stars because I swear they are putting less meat in the Phở now than they were before.

Only giving this place 1 star because I have to. While on vacation we stopped in about 7pm with my sis and her family. The waiter took half the orders anf then proceeded to tell us that they were only serving soup and couldn’t take orders. Keep in mind, they close at 9pm and this was at 7pm. Don’t you think they could’ve mentioned that as, we walked in the door, not after they sat us down and took half the orders. Talk about pissed. But that’s ok, we went to Joe’s crab shack and gave them our money instead.

We ordered take out, I go to pick it up and the first thing I smell is foot. I got my food with no issues, the place wasn’t all that busy but it was a weekday and only 6pm. The staff was fairly nice and the restaurant looked clean from what I saw it just smelled. The food wasn’t bad but at the same time wasn’t great. It was a bit bland, the rolls were the same. I wasn’t necessarily dissatisfied with the quality but I was dissatisfied with how much it cost for what we got. It was definitely overpriced for what you get, it ended up being $ 37 for two dinners and a drink. Probably won’t be going back.

I love this place! Best phở ever! They are always so nice and we never have a problem. I never go anywhere else for phở because I am disappointed when I compare it to this place.

Phở 79 is in the Asian Garden center. They have the best Phở. I have been to a lot of Phở restaurants but they are number 1.

This used to be our favorite place for phở but they’ve started going downhill. Broth is still consistently good but that’s about it. Meat has been decreased and prices have jumped $ 2−3/per bowl/dish. We’ve been going here less and less but still giving them a chance. Last night was the final straw. I ordered the phở ga(chicken) and what I got was a disgrace to Vietnamese phở ga. Beef phở broth poured over some noodles with a few strips of chicken breast, boiled for too long, on top. Where’s the chicken broth that the chicken’s been boiling in? That’s what makes the broth yummy. Also, over-boiled chicken breast? gross. This dish had no flavor, no characteristics of phở ga. I think we’re done at this place. Good bye, what used to be our favorite place!

This place has no consistency! Once in a blue moon its good not great but good. And the took happy hour away in some WTH! The service is horrible. I had to go find a waiter for menus, had to hunt one down to order drinks and again to order our dinner. This place sucks. It’s worth finding a new Phở diner

Okay so I am a BEER and STEAK kind of guy«as my profile states anyways». So I ended up ordering the Phở Steak«of course» and well, I must say it was VERY good, so good that I could have had a 2nd helping. The beer that I order was served cold so that too is a plus but also not very hard to do. NOW the 1 problem I had«and have had in the past» is the service. I don’t know about any of you fellow Unilocalers, but I like to drink more then 1 beer while at dinner. Me and the Mrs. sat there for at LEAST a ½ hour without anyone helping up. I was looking around and saw tables being cleared, a guy spinning the dinner tray on his figure«pretty impressive, but I came there to eat not for a show». So time to check out, I had to go up to the bar and ask them to check me out. Needles to say, it was poopy service«IDK if I’m allowed to say shitty on Unilocal or not» Otherwise, I MAY update this next year when I decide to come back, but we’ll see.

I am sad that my update for Phở 79 could not be a good one. I have revisited at least three times since my last review and, unfortunately, I am not sure that I will be returning. Phở 79 still has consistently great food, however, they also have consistently awful service. The norm the past couple of visits is to walk into the restaurant, stand there staring at the other people eating their food for a couple of minutes, sitting down and ordering, getting your food, and never seeing your waiter again. This past Friday, the bf and I were trying to catch a movie and, after sitting and staring at our empty bowls for 15 minutes, walked up to the counter to pay. Our waiter was playing with his phone the entire time. We even tried to flag someone down for our check, but suddenly everybody went blind and no one came to help us. Sorry, Phở 79. You have lost two loyal customers with your consistently terrible customer service.

Phở 79 is by far the best phở and Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to in 30+ years. The staff and ownership is friendly and the food is second to none! Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Phở 79. It used to be a go-too spot for us because it was close to the house and they served a decent bowl of phở. But with so many choices around that are much better, it only makes sense not to return. The service here has never been that great, but it has definitely gotten much worse. The waiter stopped by to ask if we were ready to order and I asked if we could have a couple more minutes. They’ve changed the menu here and I wanted a chance to check it out. We didn’t see him again for at least 10 minutes. When he did come back he seemed distracted and not into the role of being a waiter. Needless to say, we waited quite a while for our food, and the drink I ordered didn’t come out until I was halfway through my lunch. We didn’t the see our initial waiter(kid) again. Along with the service, I feel like the quality of the food has gone downhill, too. My rare steak phở was pretty much missing the rare steak, and the greens plate looked old and wilted. The broth was weak and flavorless and I had to add a bunch of sriracha and hoisin sauce to give it more flavor. The buns used to be pretty superior at this place, but they’ve fallen short of the mark. The noodles were overcooked and my wife had to request an extra side of fish sauce to cover everything. I have not been impressed the last couple times I’ve Phở 79. They need to step it up.
