Location: This is located in a pretty busy plaza, but it dies down after 7 since most of the businesses in that same plaza close around that time. There is plenty of parking. Service: The service here is pretty mediocre, which I was okay with. They weren’t extremely attentive, but when we asked for something, they brought it to us right away. Our waiter spoke minimal English, but it was enough to get by. He knew what we wanted and there were no issues with our order. Food: #26: Bahn Beo($ 6.95): This is steamed rice cakes that come with 11 individual plates. It is topped with dried shrimp and you add the fish sauce, chili, and pork rinds. It was so delicious! They are so addicting and has the perfect texture. You have to eat it right away when it is hot. #14: Vy Da’s Special Rice with Shredded Chicken($ 6.95) — This was just okay. The chicken was a bit on the dry side, but when you dip it with the fish sauce it tastes better. It comes with special rice, which was a bit on the hard side. It also comes with a side chicken broth soup, which was flavorful. I don’t think I would order this again. #1: Bun Bo Hue — I initially thought this was a bit on the bland side for me. I like it a bit spicer, so I added the chili(in the jar on the table) and it added to the flavor. I also added lime juice, which get it the perfect sour flavor. The meat was delicious and tender! I’ll definitely come back and get this again next time. Overall: I’ll definitely be back again to order the Bahn Beo and Bun Bo Hue. Happy I found this spot!

Food and price is ok. Staff is not friendly and for some reason the staff in Vietnamese restaurants don’t say thank you?! That’s my issue with this restaurants, they don’t appreciate your visit And that’s a shame!

This place is one of the few places I think makes banh beo the correct way. steam in little cups, ground shrimp/pork, chili and chicharron! I come here for the banh beo and the chicken and rice. And I’ll drive an hour just for it.

Fairly good. Authentic«Hue» food. Bun Bo and Banh Bot Loc are delicious. Services is alright. Waiters need to be trained a little better. They argued and back and forth loudly right in the middle of the restaurant. Owner(or manager) was right there but acted like nothing going on. What’s about a private«in service», tell your employees not to yell or argue back and forth infant of customers. We come to enjoy the meals and pay good prices for the food. Other than that, food is alright

I came here for lunch with my family during MDW and it was packed. The wait wasn’t too bad, maybe about 20 minutes before we got seated. Parking: be ready to camp for parking because this plaza is crazy. Ambiance: very casual and busy. Venue: this place is decorated relatively well. They have a mini fish pond at the back of the restaurant which I thought was a nice touch. Food: the portion size was pretty reasonable for the price. Here is what we ordered– 1) Mi Quang(yellow noodle with chicken) pretty delicious. The yellow noodles had a pretty good texture, but the chicken that came with it was a bit dry. The soup broth had the right balance sour and saltiness. 2) Bun thiet nuong(vermicelli bbq pork) — I thought the bbq was seasoned well. The pickled carrots could be a little more fermented. 3) Bun Rieu co(noodle soup with egg, snails, tofu) — the broth was a little bit on the salty side. The snails were cooked well– the texture reminded me of octopus. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try if you are patient enough to find parking.

I like the Banh Nam and their Banh bot lop but I find their other dishes just ok. I’ve had better bun bo hue at other places.

Sure, service isn’t something to go wild about and it might not be the cleanest establishment in the world(but what Vietnamese restaurant isn’t?), not to mention the plethora of Vietnamese people here might scare away the average American, but why would that stop you from enjoying the food here? Anyways, back to the food. The banh beo and bo luc lac is bomb here! Prices here are pretty average, with the bo luc lac at $ 7.50 and the banh beo at $ 7, but totally worth it. Unlike a lot of Vietnamese restaurants, they do accept cash/credit card here, except they don’t bring the check/boxes to the table, so you’d have to get it up front.

First Vietnamese experience and I liked it! Not sure what I got, my friend who is Vietnamese ordered for me. Some kind of beef and noodle bowl. Large bowl for price, good deal. Excited to try something else now.

Been here a couple times and the food and service is usually pretty good. Some of the things I’ve tried from their menu: Banh Beo — fresh and delicious Stir fried Baby Clams with Rice Cracker — flavorful and the portions was really large. Bun Bo Hue — Noodles were cooked just right and the broth had flavor but it wasn’t as flavorful or spicy as I hoped. Overall, good food for a great price!

Found live mini snail in my food. Will never come back! They don’t wash their veggies thoroughly. Not cool! Check my photo you’ll see

We have been coming to Vy Da for many years, usually just for takeout. This place is pretty solid all around. Decent prices, good VN food, not too much MSG, and not too salty. The flavors are authentic. Good for phở, bun bo hue, and hainan chicken and rice. Good for takeout on a weekday night.

Whenever I come here I usually get their com ga(Chicken rice plate). That’s what they are known for. If you want appetizer get the banh beo. Their bun no hue is pretty yummy here too! Prices is pretty reasonable. There’s a big koi pond in the back of the restaurant. Good size restaurant but sometimes it can get busy.

I love this place. I couldn’t find too many places that had banh nam so I first came here just for that. I have also tried and really like their bun rieu, which comes with a lot of the shrimp/crab paste. My friends really like the bun bo hue. And of course, their banh beo is bomb. Service is actually pretty good imo. Quick to take your order, bring out drinks, bring out food. :) you pay at the front counter.

So, I wouldn’t say I’m an expert in Vietnamese cuisine, but I think this place was tasty. I took handful of pictures, but I have no idea what we ordered hahaha Service: — Westminster isn’t known for their over the top service. If you come here, you come for the food. The servers do exactly what servers do, nothing more and nothing less. I will leave it at that… Food: — The picture with the many small plates might have been my favorite dish. You kind of just put fish sauce on everything hahah. I enjoyed it! Overall: Check it out! We had our Vietnamese friend’s order everything…

Came here randomly because we wanted to go to another restaurant but it was closed so my cousin suggested this place. All three of them told me I should get the Com Ga Vy Da(rice, chicken with ginger fish sauce) and I’M SOOOOOGLADTHAT I DID. Surprisingly they gave you just as much chicken they do rice and for only $ 7. My cousin and I had enough leftovers for another meal. It comes out with a bowl of rice already scooped out and placed on your plate, a mountain of moist Delicious chicken with white onions all through it, ginger sauce and soup. Customer service is always so meeeeh at Vietnamese restaurants but this was superb! So attentive and friendly! I’ve also heard that the bun bo hue was popular but it was so hot the day that we went, I’ll go on another day and get soup next time. Highly recommended!

What other places give you 12 banh beos in their own little dish for $ 6.50? Only here! Yes sure other places give you more on a plate(with less shrimp), but I like to eat each one off its own tiny dish by soaking it in fish sauce, cutting it into fours, then eating it in pieces rather than one whole one. Just how I grew up and I can’t change it. Tastes better this way! Their com ga, chicken rice dish, is my go to here. Rice cooked in chicken broth, the real kind where they cook the chicken in, paired with tender, moist chicken, cut into pieces, and some pickled veggies. Pour that ginger fish sauce all over and you’ve got a solid plate! Service here is actually good for a Vietnamese restaurant! The same workers are always working hard/fast to take your orders, delivering your food, and cleaning up tables quick when there’s a line. Most of them look like hard-working dads/grandpas. Hope that lady boss sitting there all day is paying them enough!

I have been going here since this place was half the size it is now. The com gia here is the best on bolsa and the bun bo hue is above average. I also love this place especially for their Banh Beo. Beware of the sate. Super spicy!

Excellent service, great atmosphere(coy pond for the kids!), and huge variety of food. On my most recent visit I tried the Banh Beo, Bun Bo Hue and Bo Luc Lak. Solid: Banh Beo — best eaten as an appetizer in my opinion. One order comes with plenty to share for 3 – 4 people! Pour some fish sauce on there and enjoy! Bun Bo Hue — soup dish, Vietnamese comfort food with some interesting add-ins(like pig’s blood!), a little more adventurous than a Phở dish! A-OK: Bo Luc Lak — sauteed shaking beef, comes with rice and a side salad. A-OK because it wasn’t as tender as I thought it should be, and the portion was sort of small. Rice felt kind of hard and a little cold. I’ll stick to the soup-y stuff when visiting this place! Great pricing, I’d probably give it another half star up for the price and service. So 3.5? My family likes to come here because it’s cheap and the service is good and they can accommodate large groups(We come with 20 people and they just shoved a bunch of tables together for us). However, it’s not one of those places that I crave and wonder when I’ll be back with each bite. But if my family is there and we’re chowing down, I’m happy to enjoy some Bun Bo Hue!

We came for the bun bo hue, banh beo, and banh bot loc. We left with a food coma. I’d never eaten the latter two dishes before, but they came highly recommended by my girlfriend, so I couldn’t refuse. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Vi Da is that everyone is speaking Vietnamese. I felt slightly embarrassed not knowing the language, but looking the part, but I also knew that that meant this place was legit. Remember, looks can be deceiving. In NorCal, strip mall food means poor quality stuff. It’s the exact opposite in SoCal. The banh beo comes with pork rinds and a delightfully light fish sauce. Layered on a small saucer of glutinous rice cake, you’ll get a bit of dried shrimp, shallots, and scallions. On the side, they’ll have tiny chopped peppers to spice it up a little. I honestly love this dish. I’m going to be on the lookout for it in SF now because it’s the perfect blend of soft, crunchy, spicy, and salty. The banh bot loc was also new to me, but who can resist steamed dried shrimp in tapioca and a hot banana leaf? And, the bun bo hue? Best I’ve had. Giant chunks of blood and other good tendon-y bits. Excellent springy round rice noodles. And, I love how they give you different accoutrements than the typical Vietnamese restaurant. Instead of bean sprouts, you get shredded cabbage. You also get basil, mint, and jalapenos. Pay at the counter, leave your cash tip on the table, leave full.

It’s tough to keep up a Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Little Saigon. Quan VD stands out to me because they serve a delicious banh beo(rice cake with shrimp). They’re served in individual plates topped with shrimp, fish sauce on the side. They’re freshly made. The bun bo hue is flavorful, although I prefer homemade better. You can choose between a small or large bowl. Besides the sliced beef, it comes with a pork bone, ground pork ball, and tendon. If you’re in the mood for something lighter, the goi ga(shredded cabbage and chicken with fish sauce dressing) really hits the spot. Order it with white rice for a perfect meal. The portion is family sized. I typically eat a quarter of it and take the rest to go. Today, I tried the bun thit nuong cha gio tom(vermicelli with BBQ pork, egg roll, shrimp, with fish sauce). I now have a favorite dish at this restaurant. The meat is marinaded very well, and the grill on it leaves this great texture. The egg roll is filled with meat, none of that veggie nonsense. And I’m not sure how they prepare the shrimp, but everyone should do it like this. They must marinade it or cook it in some kind of sauce because the flavor permeates the shrimp through and through. I couldn’t be happier about this meal. The servers here are mostly men. They’re super friendly, reminding me of my uncles. They’re traditional Vietnamese men, so sometimes the service may come off a bit haphazard. Just roll with it guys!

My family and I decided to make a quick stop here to eat since we were in the area. We all got Bun Bo Hue and one Banh Beo to share. The portions were really big in size. But I think I’ve had better bun bo hue. It didn’t taste as authentic as I would like it to be. The meat was a little chewy but I did enjoy the broth. The banh beo was good too. The service, however, was great. They were really friendly and quick.

Had lunch here with my dad yesterday which he recommended. 1. Bun bo hue: light good broth, tender meat, fresh veggies 2. Banh beo: dozen in an order, great for sharing, big pork rinds yum! 3. Com ga Vy DA(to go): has become one of my fav! Aromatic flavorful rice, nice chunks of tender chicken, fish sauce with ginger, mmmmm; comes with a side of soup 4. Nem chua: $ 0.60 each: good Quick friendly service. $ 10 minimum for CC

There are several Vietnamese restaurants in the area, but this, THIS, is the one. I don’t get to eat banh beo often, so a meal for me here is a tray(12 mini plates) of it. The others get a tray and a bowl of bun bo hue, but I personally don’t like pork’s blood in my soup, and although you can order it without blood, my tummy is happy with just the tray of banh beo alone. The banh beo is always consistent here – a mini rice cake plastered on a plate topped with shrimp, scallions, and garlic pieces accompanied by sauce, hot peppers, and pork rinds on the side. My mouth is watering at the Asian goodness as I write this review. Beware that it’s located in an Asian lot, haha. The restaurant is always packed, and surprisingly has room for a koi fish pond in the back. Right behind the koi fish, there’s beautiful artwork of a city in Vietnam on an entire wall which is pretty neat. The service here is great – the servers are honest and accommodating. The last trip I came here, my boyfriend tried to order another tray of banh beo, but the waiter told him that it would be too much food for us and that we should order more once we’ve finished everything we had already ordered first. I was shocked-and happy-by his suggestion, and my boyfriend ended up full with everything we had already ordered!
