Solid sandwiches for a solid price!
Stopped by after hearing my friends rave about their sandwiches & it was delicious! My friends are huge foodies so whenever they talk about a place it happens.
Everything on the menu is under $ 10 which is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you’re on the healthy sides they offer Build-​Your-​Own salads for roughly $ 6.99 for just veggies (generous salad) & a little more for meat. Ordering is simple, just follow the signs & you should be in & out in less than 15 mins.
I ordered the Philly cheese steak. It’s cooked to order right in front of you which is always nice when you see your meal prepared. You can add just about anything to it that you want… Sky’s the limit! I got mine with provolone & even though it was very delicious, there were parts of my sandwich that were a little dry since the cheese didn’t reach the whole sub.

I ordered the the steak and pastrami 6 inch. It was a good size and the meat was good however the bread was not, it was what you would expect from a typical toasted sub shop however they didn’t toast the bread or anything. I should have requested it to be toasted but if it’s not toasted I would at least expect it to be fresh, which it was not.
〰Good meats, decent size. Bread not good, imo. They have wheat and white options.
〰Fresh tomatoes, pickles, opinions, etc. with decent cheese options as well.
〰Reasonably priced. $ 6 – 8 for a 6 inch or $ 10-​$ 13 for a larger size. Believe it was 12 inch.
Nothing to go out of your way for but if your in the area and in the mood for a warm meaty sub, check them out.

The food is great. Service is the same. They make the food fresh in front of you and it’s delicious.

I love the local feel of this place. Always friendly and attentive service. The subs are outstanding and they don’t skimp on the fillings.

Ive been to this location plenty of times. They are very inconsistent. Bland sandwiches sometimes, sometimes the flavor is good. To add to this, never ever order over the phone. They will mess up your order and if you call to complain, you will not get customer services. Do not bother speaking with the owner, he is extremely rude, will answer with sarcasm and will hang up on you.

Service was excellent (5 stars). But the sub was the definition of mediocre. I got the hot turkey + roast beef on white bread. Aesthetically, 1 star. As far as taste, 3 stars. The bread breaks up really easily. I asked for American cheese: it wasn’t melted, instead it was just sloppily thrown on the sandwich after the fact. I should’ve looked at the sign, but cheese is an extra 0.45÷0.90 cents (which is kinda ridiculous at a sub shop). And even though I ate the sub at the restaurant, it was still kinda soggy. I won’t be coming back. There’s a Publix literally next door. This place wasn’t worth the $ 11.50 for a large sub with cheese.

I wasn’t too impressed with this place. I still feel that firehouse subs is better. The only good thing is the variety. Substantial has a great menu to choose from.

Breakfast here was amazing. The staff is great and the owner is a great family man. The breakfast omlette was better than expected.

If you like stale bread, tough meat, and a dirty place, then this is for you. Really low quality sandwich meats. If you order the breakfast of 2 eggs with toast and hash browns, you have to ask for the toast and hash browns or they will just give you the eggs! LOL. They say you didn’t ask… AVOID!

Wow, the Philadelphia cheese steak is over the top. I called in my order then went there to eat. Sofia cooked and prep’d my sub with all of the fixings. Thank you guys for the great sub and I will see you again next week

This place is great. They’ll make you anything in any way you ask. One of the few real gems in Weston. Better than Publix Subs!

I visited this place last week and ordered a BLT which was great! I went back today and ordered the same, and is not good. Today’s BLT I cant even pick up to eat because everything falls out and the bacon is barely cooked. I will probably not be back for a «work day lunch» as the sub was made so sloppily that I cant eat it without getting it all over myself.

Yes, if you want a nice sub and you’re in the area go! I like the sandwiches here — they’re always fresh (especially the tomatoes and you can taste the quality of the meat) and the folks are nice, even if the owner/​manager is highly opinionated to the point of being a bit over the top. But, his 25+ years of sandwich-​making count for something, and it adds to the character of the place.
It’s just a no-​frills sandwich shop, but seating is available at small common tables (no room for large groups). It’s VERY popular with the local landscapers and maintenance people who work in the Weston area so you’ll see a lot of service trucks in the parking lot. Prices are not high, not low, but I feel that they are a value.
As I write this in April 2015, a redeveloped Publix is about to open next door so parking is a little complicated by construction traffic although not inconvenient. Once Publix re-​opens with their sandwich shop I think this place will continue to do well and probably better because of the traffic. I like Publix subs, but these subs are better all-​around with better bread and meat.
I personally walk from my office across the street, bypassing Boston Market, Taco Bell and a number of in-​line restaurants that do take-​out. I could go the other direction and find several high-​profile restaurants and fast food as well. I could also get in my car and run to Firehouse Subs up the street. But, for some reason I always return to Substantial Subs (I guess they do salads too). Right now I’m thinking about the bread… with a little mayo, mustard and oil/​vinegar over whatever, it’s the roll that I crave.

I have come here at least 6 times and its always good. Service is quick and food quality is good. I recommend the Chicken Philly subs.

Graet food, great service. Consistently. I’ve found the owner there every time I go and it is obvious that he takes great pride and interest in making sure customers are happy. Food portions are generous and prices are very reasonable. When i want a sub, Subway and the like are never an option, even if i have to drive a little longer to get here.

Italian sausage the best add in peppers onions with or without sauce also awesome steak subs. Friendly staff good local place.

The best hot sandwich I’ve ever had. Don’t be fooled by the imitators, this is the one and only.

My review of Substantial Subs in Weston is long overdue! S.S. catered my daughter’s outside birthday party in June for 45 people and they were amazing. They provided beautiful flower table arrangements, decorations, an adorable My Little Pony cake and platter after platter of great food. We highly recommend Bill at Substantial Subs for a great event and even better prices. 5 stars — hands down!

I ordered delivery. Which took almost two hours. No forks for salad. No napkins. No salt and pepper. No ketchup for fries. No mayo for sandwich or on it. Steak sandwich sucks times ten!!! Super tough can’t even bite it! Spent 50 bucks for this horrible food. I’m totally unimpressed and beyond ticked. Cold food also. This went to a hotel. You would think they would be smart enough to add the basics to eat!!!

Substantial Salads & Subs in Weston isn’t just all about the salads and subs, what I discovered is that they have good tasting burgers too.
I went in expecting to try one of their subs and ended up with their Cheesesteak Sandwich. For a steak and cheese, it was not one of the best of I have ever had, but as a sandwich it was great. The meat was good and the bread was fresh and soft.
The Burger my friend ordered was the delicious surprise. It was well cooked, flavored and decked out with a whole lotta goodness.
The guys behind the counter are really nice, which is a plus, but what makes Substantial Salads & Subs so great are their prices. You are getting way better tasting food at McDonald’s prices.
Don’t get me wrong, they are not serving gourmet food here but the prices are great for what you are getting which is good food.
