Stopped in last night to pick up a few things. When I worked in the area, I would order all of my B-Day cakes from here. Family business, the owner and his associates are always so helpful. Any special event, holiday, or just because, I would run in and grab so many great items. Cakes– Always fresh and über good Cuban Bread, butter cookies, excellent flan, empanada’s, and other hot items… Cool variety of many cakes and other specialty dessert items. In Weston, this place is a must visit for all of your sweet tooth needs… Great coffee and sandwiches too. Clean, great variety, helpful, this place is perfect!!!

Hit it, Etta: «…I just wanna cook yo’ bread — just to make sho’ that yo’ well fed…» (What do you mean, «Etta who?» Etta James… she sang«At Last» way before Beyonce did for the Obamas so don’t EVEN talk to me.) Where was I? Oh yes — BREAD. Cuban Bread. Toasted with too much butter. A heavenly bed for juicy pork, ham, cheese and pickles. Dunked into café con leche. Oh myyyyyyyy. I had quite the hankering this morning for some good breakfast treats so I went straight to my neighborhood bakery, Vicky’s. Ok– I didn’t know Vicky’s was a chain. I found«mine» when I first moved to Florida(Weston) and thought it was a sign from God. I came looking for Cuban coffee and found bread and sweets and croquetas and dulce de leche and… well, God(Dios mio.) This particular shop is family run– as I guess they all probably are. Their cakes are amazing. I brought some honking dulce de leche cake slices to my daughter’s school instead of the ubiquitous birthday cupcakes. Two words: Teacher’s Pet. Soo incredibly rich and yummy. The real Cuban dulce the leche — deal. And yes– the Cuban bread at Vicky’s is great. Fresh and cheapy cheap. This shop has a not so cozy space to sit and sip coffee or eat a sandwich. It could be a real gem of a place if they put up some cool art and pumped in some Putumayo music. OMG — the Cuban Café CD would be perfect! I’m bringing it over there tomorrow — along with my Best of Etta…
