The food is probably great — we’ll never know because after being told to wait 20 minutes with our toddler in tow — the hostess sat everyone ahead of us, including 2 couples with children that came in after us. When she realized I caught on to her, she tried to say she didn’t have my name in the book(really? you think we like to stand at the bar holding our kid in one arm waiting around staring at people?) when I asked her if she was sure about that– she blank stared with her mouth open. Sorry if we weren’t «Westport» enough for you. Thanks for putting my not even 2 year old through that experience — you suck at life. I’m giving one star for the bartender — at least she was nice and made great Bloody Mary’s. Otherwise, you Westport people can keep this s#*thole of a place with its s#%ty people.

A good solid everyday restaurant. We wanted someplace warm, cozy, not too loud and not rushed. Little Barn was spot on! I’d never been there before — and I will go back soon. One friend had a cheeseburger — good, the other a turkey burger but it was just OK. I had the vegetable burrito — which I liked a lot. The menu is mostly appetizers, salads and burgers with a handful of entrees. My friend had the salmon before and said it was very good.

A small country ambiance with a fireplace blazing on a busy Westport street is the perfect spot to take the family to lunch or grab a drink with friends. I ordered a bacon Bloody Mary and the bacon cheese burger with onion rings. The table also got tacos and the pulled pork sandwich(it comes on an English muffin). The Bloody Mary was excellent and our waitress was fantastic. The burger was cooked well and the egg was a nice touch. Both the sweet potato fries and the onion rings were fantastic with good portions. Only gripe was my bun was airy and fell apart easily. Great spot go here!

Food is good. «No fuss no muss» Don’t come expecting fine dining. Definitely a hang out zone. There’s a working fire place for when you visit in the fall/winter. Staff is friendly and observant. Great location. Parking is a bit tight but loved the décor, food and drinks.

I feel mixed about this place. One one hand I thought the food was good enough, but I was disappointed in the prices and size of the portion. We had a Cuban sandwich and a turkey wrap. The portions were definitely lunch sized, but we were paying about $ 13 for a plate which I think is a bit much. The quality was good, but it wasn’t out of this world amazing. I think I would rather come here for apps and drinks, rather than a full meal. The ambience near the bar is pretty nice.

It is what it suppose to be. A pub with good food especially the burgers. Service at the bar was as expected. My friend ordered the burger with onion rings and it was delicious. The tacos were fine, skip the Tuna one. Only complaint was the taco portions were small. Priced properly at app and sandwich/burger level. Entrees too expensive for a place that was converted from an old burger and hot dog establishment. Always a great place to grab drinks and a conversation with friends.

So this was my third time eating at this restaurant. Oddly enough, all three experiences were very similar. In all three instances, we were seated immediately, we had to wait forever for our server to take our order, the food came out quick, and the food was cooked perfectly. This time around, we ordered the tuna blocks appetizer, bacon egg & cheese burger, and the ribs. The tuna was a little spicy, but still a good dish. The burger was cooked perfectly, as it was the previous two times that I ordered it. As for the ribs, we were surprised that the dish only came with a half rack of ribs, compared to a full rack. However, we quickly realized why: this was the largest/thickest half rack of ribs that we had ever seen. This half rack easily had as much meat as full racks that are sold at other restaurants. But I can assure you, that none of those other restaurants have ribs that taste this good! The meat literally fell off the bone. No exaggeration. These were easily the best ribs either of us have ever had. I can’t say enough about them! Now the reason for giving this place 4 stars instead of 5, is that the service is severely lacking. We’ve been here three seperate times, on three different days of week, and every time we go, the experience is the same. Despite the food always coming out of the kitchen quickly, we always find ourselves waiting to give our order, waiting for our drinks, waiting to pay our bill, and one time we were even left wondering why the waiter never delivered our appetizer(they gave us a free beer to compensate which was nice). Maybe the place is understaffed, and waiters are responsible for too many tables, or maybe we have bad luck and just keep getting stuck with inferior servers… either way, it’s the one thing that’s really stopping this establishment from being great.

Relatively new, it has quickly become out«Go to place» a good eclectic menu in keeping with their stable of restaurants, friendly staff and a very good selection of wines and beers. Good for a date or family occasion. well done

Came in for the first time for lunch with wife and 6 year old. I had mahi taco, chicken taco and beef taco: the chicken was the best with a spicy mayo on it. The honey wings were good. Girlfriend’s BLT was so-so; she said the tomato should have been better considering it’s the middle of summer. Little things brought the experience down: the coleslaw in a small medal cup was room temperature and not crisp. The lime condiments that accompanied my tacos looked old. On the bright side, the special tequila drink was very good and, oh, the girlfriend’s pickle was crisp and cold. The experience could have been better but the atmosphere is good and it’s definitely kid friendly.

Great place to bring your family — we can have a nice cocktail, while keeping the kids also happy… however everybody knows that now, so it gets busy early! Love sitting out on the patio, their garden is amazing. My favorite thing on the menu would have to be the steak tacos, with guac & grilled pineapple. The Cobb salad is my other go to. Peanut butter pie is a favorite of my children.

I waited a long time to try this local restaurant but now that I have I love it! Really great casual restaurant with nice 3 season patio — both indoor and outdoor fireplaces. LOVE the Turkey Burger, The French Fries, and the Salads. The tuna, the Thai lettuce cups are all my favorites.

The food was just ok… The lobster salad sandwich was great Much better than expected the bacon was crisp, lobster was fresh and not over cooked really Very very good. The fries not so good warm and over cooked(when the kitchen door opened you can see the fries sitting in a big bowl on the line under a heat lamp all piled on top of each other tasted like cooked earlier in the day… The buffalo wings were not crisp as requested… They were rubbery. Chicken lettuce wraps were very salty… Won’t go back, not really worth it… Our waitress Emily was very nice, good service…

Little barn is cute Cute doesn’t always cut it. Sure, there are barn themed interior decorations, and a working fireplace, but the food was forgettable. I mean, some people go to dinner for the cute aspect, and if that’s you, you’ll LOVE little barn. I go for food. I like meat, and I love burgers. Burgers are my thing. If someone says, at anytime of the day, «what do you want to eat» my response is always«I don’t know, probably a burger.» And little barn’s burger, while alright, wasn’t great. It was overlooked when I asked for it to be medium. The three stars for their drinks. I ordered a strong cocktail made with bourbon and and Orange peel. I can’t remember what it is called, but it was very good. Maybe I’ll go back just for drinks, the bar area seemed pretty cool. The restaurant area had too many children.(I know I’m going to look back on these reviews where I complain about children when I eventually have children and think of what a jerk I was, but for now I would prefer children to not be part of my dining experience.)

This has become one of my husband’s and my favorite spots. The restaurant is super cozy. We like to sit at the bar and start with a maple Old Fashioned. Charles and Kayla are awesome behind the bar. The lobster mac and cheese is not to be missed. Seriously. You need to get that. Nachos, tuna blocks, and Brussels sprout salad are super(and I generally hate Brussels sprouts). Burgers are great too. Parking is tight, but we are lucky enough to live around the corner so we can walk there. Park in the Barnes & Noble lot across the street.

There is no greater pleasure when writing a review than the ability to wholeheartedly and genuinely report a completely positive experience. After attending a blogger dinner at Little Barn in Westport, I now have the opportunity to do exactly that. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the restaurant is cozy but not suffocating, features two fireplaces(one indoor and one outdoor), a lovely patio, and a rustic bar with an entire wall of sliding windowed doors for breezy summer dining. We began the evening outside by the fireplace and were greeted by Scott Beck, personable and witty co-owner of Little Barn, and gracious General Manager Dave Studwell. Giant soft pretzels with spicy stout and honey mustard dipping sauces from Little Barn’s Oktoberfest menu and a pint of Pumpkin Porter from Thimble Island(a Branford, CT based brewery) got us started, and while the pretzel was warm and delicious, I knew better than to eat too much and start the evening already full. Inside we went, and dish after dish began to arrive. First, a series of appetizers served family style. Seared sesame encrusted Ahi Tuna over avocado purée and topped with pineapple pico de gallo were just right; very lightly seared and completely raw in the center with crunchy sesame seeds and a kick of sriracha served on the side. Two different trays of tacos, char grilled filet tips with roasted pineapple, guacamole, and pico de gallo, as well as grilled chicken with pico de gallo and chipotle mayo arrived at the table. Wow. These are great tacos. The lightly charred tortillas and smoky spice of chipotle peppers made for an addictive flavor combination. There’s a certain taco place in Westport(rhymes with martaco), and I’ve always been a fan, but now I’ve discovered a new favorite. Usually salads are the least«fun» part of a meal(at least not for my pizza-addicted palate). Not so at Little Barn. A shaved brussels sprouts salad tossed with crispy pumpkin seeds, crunchy granny smith apples, and chewy dried cranberries, dressed in a mustard vinaigrette and sprinkled with parmesan cheese, was the best use of raw brussels sprouts I have yet to experience. I was also pleased to see the correct spelling, «brussels» on the menu — almost every other restaurant, take note. The raw kale and shaved fennel salad with candied pecans and red wine vinaigrette earns the same«best I’ve encountered» status. I had three helpings. I want to eat more right now. It’s a must order dish, even if you have disliked kale in the past. Thai chicken lettuce wraps with hot chili sauce and peanuts were flavorful but not overpowering, and a great dish for sharing with the table. For my entrée, I chose sesame and wasabi crusted tuna with warm soba noodles. Even though we had already tried the tuna appetizer, I was ready for more. The entrée was even better, with larger, thinner cuts of Ahi tuna and noodles with just the right combination of peanut flavor and salty sweetness. For vegetarians, a bowl of these noodles would be totally satisfying. After such a great meal, I was not sure there was room for dessert, but of course I could not resist. A warm brownie with caramel sauce, whipped cream, and gelato was indulgently chocolatety, and the pumpkin pie was well received. But the absolute star of the trio, and perhaps of nearly every dessert I’ve ever had, was fried chocolate chip cookie dough bites with vanilla gelato. My taste buds did not know how to handle the deliciousness of these bite sized delights. Stop reading this review, and go straight to Little Barn to try them. They combine the classic carnival treat of fried dough, texture combination of fried ice cream, and the indulgence of eating cookie dough straight from the mixing bowl. It is surely obvious that I highly recommend a trip to Little Barn. It’s suitable for both family dining, watching sports in the bar, or date night by the fireplace. And the food… well, my compliments to Chef Jeff Spence.

What an amazing transformation! The architecture is an homage to the New England red barn. Sustainable reclaimed old barn wood creates the siding. The sheet metal roof and the fabulous roof vents demand attention. My favorite feature though is the 2 sided stone fireplace in the main dining space. Reminds me of the pubs of Ireland. This feature obviously lends itself to the cozy interior and leads the diner on to the outside patio which allows one to enjoy the fire place as well. We can anticipate outdoor dining(which is rare here) beacuse of the awesome sliding doors that open onto the patio bringing the outdoors in. Yah! The menu offers a variety of gastropub comfort classics, all of which are under $ 20. Soups, hearty sandwiches, Mexican inspired plates, as well as salads, fish & chips & of course a variety of burgers. What a perfect addition to the local ever growing food scene.
