Customer beware. Double, triple and quadruple check your bills! Dinned there for lunch with a large party recently. We had toddlers, infants and families. In a rush to get out of the restaurant, as the kids were restless, they took advantage of us and added $ 150 of additional charges plus 20% tip on top. They padded their bill with an extra 12 alcoholic drinks and 2 entrees. They were so accommodating to set everything up but when I contacted them afterwards, they refused to acknowledge the overcharges. I have no problem paying for what our entire party consumed, but this appears to be gross negligence or fraud. Hopefully this is not a standard practice for them in Westport where folks probably don’t check their bills. Customer beware. Food was average and I wish we would’ve had as many drinks as they actually charged us for.

Decent little hole. I ordered the salmon BLT, without the olive tapenade, it was pretty good. I’d avoid getting the chips though, they came out very soggy. It was a little surprising to find out that they charge $ 3.50 per tiny cup of coffee. Might as well go to Starbucks for that price.

Tavern on main is a favorite when shopping in Westport from out of town. Clearly this is true for others as well as the place was bursting at the seams today. Great for the business owner but not so much for us. The place could do with an extra server during busy lunch days so they would have time to properly explain menu items and correctly place orders so that plates arrive as expected. There’s nothing quite as disappointing as looking forward to an imagined meal and receiving something completely different! Tavern on Main, get your menu descriptions straight!

Bad service and mediocre food. We had a 7:30 reservation for 4 and arrived a little early to have a drink at the bar before dinner. At 7:30 when we asked about our table she informed us it would be «awhile before we could be seated». The hostess was so rude and unprofessional ! We ended up sitting down at 8:30pm! A full hour after our reservation. This woman even made some odd comments that we should just relax and that she technically could give us a table at the bar not in the dining room for our reservation. It was truly unbelievable and we would NEVER go back. I do not recommend the place at all! The service and food are just plain bad!

A reluctant 3. Food: Amazing. Service: Amazing(ask for Tim). Owner: Degrading and rude… I’ve never felt a need to write a review on Unilocal but this afternoon this man felt the need to tell me I had too much after a few(not strong) mimosas, all in all maybe 3 glasses of champagne. It seemed more like he was trying to get my boyfriend and I out of a table even though we were paying patrons. Additionally, he chose to sit and stare at the two of us through half our meal and while we sat talking after. Unfortunately I won’t be coming back.

Usually a nice place. Not today. Miserable waitress, crap steak(grissle) sandwich. Did nothing about it so I took my refund from the tip.

I always wanted to try this place. So I my son and I were looking for a nice place to eat. We were seated outside. Well I must please paint the place soon. It’s looks bad on the deck. Now the service so slow that it took over a half and hour to get brunch we ordered and some of it was wrong. So another wait. The real thing that bugged me was a huge party that came in after us got there food first. I had to flag down our waiter to get our food .he did not say he sorry . They need more staff there and better. So I am sorry for the 1star but you must earned it to get better. What a shame. It looks nice from the outside but do not stop and waste your time. Sorry but true.

Tavern on Main is a Westport mainstay: but for what’s it’s worth, I was unimpressed. The salmon on my Caesar salad was quite good, but the salad itself left a lot to be desired. Thinly chopped romaine drowned in Parmesan and a sickly(not homemade) dressing? I expected much more for $ 19. I have to add: the bread basket was a gross, boring, cold(once frozen, I suspect) baguette. I couldn’t finish even one piece. Service was perfectly fine, and the ambiance outside on the patio was nice, but there are many better places to patronize in Westport.

I used to love Tavern for brunch! This recent experience I had with it, though… well, it was bad enough to make me think they might be on the verge of closing soon. I have seen this pattern before. I went on a Sunday for brunch, by myself for some peace and quiet as I’d been staying with friends for a week. They had no reading materials, fine. I got a magazine at Oscar’s and came right back. I was seated and the waiter seemed nice. He brought me my smoked salmon Benedict and Bloody Mary; the dish seemed really sparse and thrown together, but I thought to myself that looks can be deceiving. Not really! Nothing special at all about those, and it wasn’t all that filling. The Bloody Mary tasted both burnt and watery, which was strange. I would happily have said something, and I’m sure they would have done something about it, but I didn’t see a waiter for 20 minutes after he dropped it off. Never asked how things were. At some point, I just wanted to get out of there so I just ate my eggs and did the best I could with that drink. When I paid, I mentioned the drink and he came back after and asked if I wanted another one. Uh, no? I just paid, I want to leave! It is sad. I used to bring friends here, especially visitors to Westport. The atmosphere is still nice, but I think if something like that happened with someone I was taking out, I’d be mortified. You can risk it by yourself, but I wouldn’t bring a friend these days.

Nice outdoor seating & pleasant, attentive staff. Was a little surprised at the quality of food. In my opinion, the burger was made with frozen meat — dry & thin. The bun was stale — broke apart — most likely frozen as well. The fries were supposed to be tossed with truffle oil — instead they were lightly sprinkled with truffle salt. The best part about the Duck Confit Salad was the salad.

Right on main street in downtown Westport, CT Tavern on Main is a great place to grab lunch dinner or weekend brunch. The outdoor seating and patio is excellent for warm weather. Came in to have lunch on a lovely sunday afternoon. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and a chicken Cesar salad. Carb Cake sandwich was without a doubt one of the best I ever had. The sauce and apple inside really makes it melt in your mouth. Chicken Cesar salad comes with so much chicken you might as well just order a steak. Still very well made. I was a little out of place as we came in dressed like we just came from the hood. I forget how pretentious Westport is. Should have left the BMW at home and taken the Maserati, pick up a new outfit from Vineyard Vines, and change my skin color before coming. Service could be a bit better and more prompted but food wise, great place to eat!

Every time I come home from Boston this is on top of my list of places to visit. It’s a comfortable casual restaurant with classic New England fare and some more contemporary offerings as well. The food is consistently delicious and the staff are always friendly.

Tavern on Main has been a local favorite located in downtown Westport. A restaurant that displays classic New England aided greatly by the presence of three brick fireplaces wooden planked floors and copper bar top. The warm and welcoming ambiance of the historic dining rooms and cozy New England allows guests to relax and enjoy food and wine aided by the presence of the fireplaces. With a great selection of local beers on draft guests can enjoy a cold pint or sit by the large window that views main street in bar areas.

So bad. I went with my girlfriends for a late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday around 4:00. We sat at a high-top table in the bar area. Throughout our meal the service was non-existent. A server dropped off our food and our waiter never returned. I had to flag him down for more water and for a side of ranch. It was becoming prime dinner time as we were finishing up our glasses of wine. The manager comes over and says«can you go sit at the bar?» Not, excuse me, or sorry but we need your table. Not even an offer to buy our round of drinks in order to give up the space. Instead of moving, we decided to leave and won’t be back anytime soon. What a disappointment.

I might even give this place 4 stars. It is consistent, they serve all day, are in a great location downtown and have a nice bar area. Wouldn’t you know the day I was there, two old dudes were at the bar talking about guns and hunting? Not the sort of conversation one would expect in chi chi Westport. Though that conversation is better than hearing the yippity yap of all the dumb mommies running around in their yoga gear about town. My meal of salmon, grilled asparagus and a salad was exactly what I wanted. And, I will be back to repeat that many times.

I can’t think of anything bad to say. Cozy and inviting atmosphere. My co-worker and I came for lunch Friday, and it was quite crowded for a weekday afternoon, but despite that, everything was speedy and efficient. We decided on the Roasted Tomato Tart for an appetizer which had goat cheese, arugula, caramelized onions, and a balsamic drizzle. Perfect size starter. As my meal I had the Grilled Salmon BLT on a gluten free wrap which was AMAZING. It had olive tapenade, avocado, lemon pepper mayo, arugula(I’m on quite the arugula kick lately), bacon, and roasted tomato. One of the best wraps I’ve ever had, Then the truffle fries. Oy vey. So good. Staff was completely aware that practically everyone was on business lunch and never missed a beat.

Stopped by for lunch on our way to NYC… Décor and design fantastic, the fireplace added a great bit of ambiance… Food was very good, I had the Salmon BLT with the truffle oil fries(Amazing!), while my fiancé had the turkey wrap… Service was perfect: waiter was very attentive and food flew out of the kitchen! Overall, a pleasant stop and very good food with amazing service!

Best restaurant in Westport! The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough. The chopped salad is out of this world and their burger is nicely garnished with a succulent marmalade. I have to add that the desserts are exceptional. I had the Apple crisp last night and it hit the spot. I have made this place my go-to-restaurant. Try it. You won’t be disappointed!
