The food was great. But the reason why I am giving this restaurant a 3 out of 5 star is due to the ambience and total experience… I am all about the whole package in a restaurant. If one is paying top Westport prices I expect the atmosphere, staff, food, and drinks to be fantastic. Blue lemon is extremely small(like a small living room, one hears everything that is going on in the kitchen, pots and pan sounds, the sink, and sometimes music that the cooks are listening to). My husband and I went to Blue lemon around 7 pm on a Friday night. The place was empty with only two or three other couples. No music was playing and it was extremely quiet– you can hear everyone else’s conversation even if they were talking in the most silent voices. Around 8 pm a small crowd started to flow in and this is when I looked around and saw that everyone was above 60 year olds.(We are in are early 30’s) Anyway it’s still quiet and the only sounds you hear are the waiters saying the specials of the night and the kitchen. My Husband’s Lobster was chewy(due to overcooking) and my scallions were great. We had two drinks each and some appetizers. If you like a small restaurant with a library style environment — this is the place for you. But if you like a place where you can find yourself fully relaxed without fear of people listening to your conversation try another place.

Very professional service. Genuinely nice people. French onion soup was delicious. Salads were carefully constructed and enjoyable to eat. Don’t pass on the bread when it’s offered — it’s wonderful! Looking forward to returning again soon.

I’m giving it one extra star for the friendliest service ever! Our waitress was not only excellent, but the nicest server ever.(were we really in Westport? ;) She even put up and laughed at my dad’s corny jokes. All four of us loved our meals. Especially the french onion soup, tuna tartare with ginger sauce, sautéed spinach with ginger, quail, steak sandwich, scallops and the most delicious lemon tart dessert. Thanks Blue Lemon and keep up the excellent, friendliest service on the planet!

What an incredible little place in Westport! Nice atmosphere, good service and even better food! We got the tuna tartare, french onion soup and mussels with their Blue Lemon fried potatoes. Honestly, the mussels were some of the best I’ve ever had. Small but tender, the broth was incredibly flavorful and the fries were so amazing, especially with the garlic aioli. Perfectly crunchy on the outside but just like a mashed potato on the inside. The other items were great as well, but these two were the stars of the meal.

I’ve been here before and have been pleased with the menu so maybe this time it was just me, I don’t really know. The Brazilian Seafood was absolutely tasteless surrounded by mussels which you needed a microscope to see. I was very disappointed and really you should take it off the menu unless the chef goofed. The sauce tasted like warm water without seasoning with bits of rice. I just couldn’t finish my plate because I felt like I was eating hospital food. I know this is not Blue Lemon’s style. Unfortunately we all screw up sometimes.

Not sure what the appeal is here. Had dinner here a few times and it was all pretty subpar for the price. Last time, had scallops that tasted burnt in some sickly sweet reduction. Time before, tough steak that required considerable effort to consume. Every time, service was either average or just plain irritated to be there.

This restaurant has been in Westport for a very long time and there is a reason for that. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and it is intimate and charming. They have an outdoor garden area to sit which is perfect in the summer. I have been dining in this restaurant for the last 6 years and have never been disappointed!

I’ve been to Blue Lemon quite a few times and have usually had a good and interesting meal there. But, I must say that the meal we had this last time was horrible. I had the«special» Dover Sole and honestly, couldn’t eat it. $ 40 thrown out. My daughter also ordered the Dover sole and hers was just as bad. Another $ 40 thrown out. Both were cold and rubbery, had a strong fishy odor and there were bones everywhere. I probably should have known better than to order the Monday night special on a Tuesday night but the server said that it was fresh. Not so much. The service was fine but there were only 3 other parties dining there on a Tuesday evening. Our third dining companion had sea bass and he said that was good. The sole is supposed to be one of their trademark dishes and I should have sent it back but didn’t want to make a fuss. My daughter, unfortunately, did the same thing and so, it wasn’t until we left and I said I was starved because I couldn’t eat the fish that she said hers was equally as bad. I won’t be going back.

We went for dinner on 6÷4÷14, spur of the moment. We had the crab cake, baby squid and Tuna special. The crab cake was a soggy mess and I wouldn’t get it again. But the squid was very good. However, the star of the show was the Tuna. It was PERFECT. And, despite a snafu with service from the runner, John(our main waiter) quickly corrected the problem and made the evening even better. will definately be back.

We had a delicious dinner there with friends that were visiting from Haiti. They wanted French cuisine since they are more familiar with this food then other things. The meals were delicious and the atmosphere was very inviting. We will definitely be back.

I’ve eaten here three times, for dinner, and each was memorable. The food is wonderful and the value good. The service can be a bit scattered and slow(needs work; that’s the reason for four stars, not five), but the atmosphere is pleasant enough. I will certainly return.

We had a delicious dinner. We ordered tuna tartare, the squid, the mussels, For our entrées we had the lamb shank, the Cornish game hen and the strip steak. Everything was unbelievably delicious. Our server, Jeff, was amazing. We highly recommend a dinner here.

Great atmosphere. Cute outdoor seating near a brook. Bathroom is VERY small. Service is very slow. They did not check on us or refill our waters. Only took our order and gave the check until after our food was eaten. Even then we had to wait until we grabbed a busboy to get our waiter. Food is under seasoned and over priced. My gnocchi was overcooked and mushy. Plus they ran out of a special before 7pm on a Saturday night.

Me and My girlfriend went there last night(both 21) and we were the only ones in there. They were having a slow night and had no idea why, worked out great for us though! Anyway, for an appetizer we ordered the Philly Cheeseteak spring rolls with chipotle ketchup and I have to say it was very, very good. For our meals I ordered the Seared King Salmon over Ginger Spinach with Apple, Cranberry Chutney And Preserved Lemon Vinaigrette, I did however substitute the chutney for sautéed mushrooms and… believe me when I say this, This is one of the most amazing, fantastic, delicious salmon dishes I have ever had. It was crispy on the outside and cooked to perfection on the inside. My girlfriend had the Blackened Shrimp over Poblano Pepper & Grilled Corn Risotto with Passion Fruit Vinaigrette, which was also absolutely delicious. For dessert we split the Homemade Apple Crisp with Cinnamon Ice Cream. Also very very good. The waiter was phenominal, great suggestions and service. This place is deffnitely a keeper and we cannot wait to go back in the summer.

Hosted a bridal shower luncheon here last Saturday after reading a few reviews on Unilocal. Food & service were excellent. Bryan(owner & executive chef) and Jeffrey were wonderful and accomodating from the pre-planning right up through the end of the party. After each bite, you could hear our guests murmur: «Ohhh, that’s good… that’s really good.» Everything we sampled was flavorful & tasty. Portions were plenty. Looking forward to the next visit.

Ample parking in a private parking lot in the rear. We arrived after 2PM on a Friday afternoon were greeted by Jeff, a very friendly person who attended our every need the entire time and was a pleasure to talk to. He advised us the kitchen had just closed and we were so disappointed he asked Chef Brian Malcarney if he might serve one more table for lunch, and the chef agreed! FIVESTARS!!! We had a delicious lunch! Two of us ordered the grilled halibut which had just come off the truck barely an hour ago. WOW! It was fantastic as were the seared diver scallops over orzo pasta ordered by the third person in our party. The service was attentive and relaxed and we had the dining room all to ourselves, though there were others dining al fresco(outside). The prices are clearly listed on the menu and very reasonable. The dining room was painted lemon yellow trimmed with soft white accents. There were paintings on the walls made by a local artist and each was for sale. The sconces were pretty blue glass and there was a sweet collection of potted plants in the bay window. We felt like we were visiting someone’s lovely home for lunch, and were made to feel very welcome. WEWILLDINEATTHEBLUELEMONAGAINVERYSOON! TWOTHUMBSUP!

Blue Lemon, in the heart of Westport, offers a wonderful al fresco dining option. They have this charming, magical outdoor patio. Hidden from the street, it is almost like a «well kept secret». It is the most perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors as well as a fabulous meal prepared by Chef Bryan Malcarney. Chef Malcarney is a master at making his food look spectacular and taste even better! With vibrant colors and picture perfect presentations on each plate his flavors are clean and each ingredient seems to be thoughtfully chosen to complete the wonderful composition of textures and flavors on each plate. You must try his award winning babay squid!

I had a 7:15 reservation, not too early, not too late. Like one other reviewer, the first thing I noticed was the significantly older crowd. As the night went on, the place emptied out and a few younger couples came in. Unlike other reviews, I didn’t have an issue with the service being painfully slow. They did constantly refill my water glass which is a huge plus in my book. The service was a solid OK. I used a gift certificate so it was nice to save $ 25. No wine list was presented but when asked, they did have a good selection of wine by the glass. Both my friend and I got a hangar steak special that was absolutley delicious. The dish was great, but I’m not running back there. With so many other restaurants in the area, they didn’t do enough to differentiate themselves from the pack.

I picked up a Living Social coupon for Blue Lemon and after looking at their online menu, I was very hopeful. I should have paid attention to more of the reviews. The food was great, which is why it almost hurts to write this review. The carpaccio melted in my mouth, the shrimp gratin was just lovely as was my sweetie’s lamb. The wine list was decent and reasonably priced. Timing, timing, timing. I tend to get twitchy if I am brought to a seat and not handed a menu. I had to ask for a wine list and the server finally brought the menus. The awkward pacing continued throughout the meal, and we had to ask for the check twice. While I hate being rushed in a restaurant, I hate waiting for the check more. It’s sad, really. If this place doesn’t shape up they’re going to go under and I don’t think they’ll have a clue why.
