Everything is always good Pub style burgers are cooked to perfection. Chicken cordon bleu sandwich is humongous and delicious… great onion rings here too! Definitely recommend…

The service was pathetic! We were seated and ordered one drink. The table was wobbly and the drink spilled we asked for some assistance the bartender rolled her eyes and ignored us. We paid our check and left and will never return. The bartender should consider a new line of work maybe at the Registry of motor vehicles.

Wish the pub and the kitchen didn’t close so early but I understand, we’re in Weymouth and everything does. But this awesome tavern will surprise you with how good the food is. You could expect to pay twice as much in the city for the same meal and it wouldn’t be as good. Draft beer is the usual mass market crap but they have a good selection of bottles. The staff couldn’t be friendlier and we always end up laughing it up with the customers that stop in. A very underrated local watering hole. EDIT: I’m docking this place two stars because they’re not open consistently. I know it’s closed on Mondays which stinks but I went there a couple of times at 8 – 8:30-ish and it was closed. The problem is the staff always wants to close early and leave when there are no customers, but that has made it so the customers don’t come because they’re not sure if they’re open. The boss needs to make the closing be 11pm SOLID and stay open even if no one is in there, because eventually people will come. If employees don’t want to stay, get new employees.

Excellent service and good food for a tavern. It’s like a throw back in time when family-owned establishments took pride in their food and service. Super friendly environment with great staff. Most of all, very affordable and specials each night.

I think any experience at Jackson Square Tavern is going to be extraordinarily subjective. The place was filled with folks I assume are regulars on a Wednesday night, all of whom were interacting with very friendly staff and having a seemingly good time. For folks who enjoy this particular atmosphere and the old-school, family restaurant vibe — more power to ya! I can’t complain about the service or the food. The service was friendly. The food was ok, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I ordered a special, chicken broccoli penne in a cream sauce. The sauce was too thin for my liking, but the pasta was cooked well and there was a lot of flavor. My husband ordered the chicken parm sandwich and it came with fries. He said both were flavorful(he did say the fries were really good), but again, it just wasn’t anything to write home about. Jackson Square Tavern is exceptionally affordable. Our two meals plus three Yuengling’s came to $ 37 and change. Speaking of Yuengling… this isn’t a beer bar. They have very limited beer choices, but feature a lot of cocktails instead. Again, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that I can truly complain about. My two stars are only indicative of whether or not I’d return. I can see how this place attracts and retains their regulars… but I’m just not going to become one of them.

Pizza isn’t too bad bit could def be cooked a little more and enemy for a bar pizza its small. Reasonably priced. If you don’t like your pizza floppy order it well done and it should be just right

This is a great local pub with really good seafood. Its casual, affordable and friendly. The service staff are hard working people, all of them are characters — and I mean that in a good way. You’ll rub elbows with Bankers from Boston and Electricians from up the street — yes a diverse crowd. Bottom line, its a great place for a nice low-key dinner with friends. Bring an appetite,.

In search of a great pub style place to eat, watch a hockey game, and drink some beers on a Friday night, we came here off a local’s suggestion and unfortunately were not impressed. Granted, the atmosphere was awesome and right on point. There were small tables scattered throughout the place with a big inviting bar and multiple tvs with the full range of sports. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which is usually a pretty safe bet when you’re after fried food, but we found it pretty disappointing. The onion rings were thin and limp, the batter for the fried shrimp was boring and flavorless, and the dipping sauce was a bland marinara and sour cream?! There were no potato skins(other parts of the sampler included cheese sticks, fried pickles and fries) so I never did figure out why a tub of sour cream was a good add on. I am a sucker for fried pickles, so including them on the sampler certainly helped to save this place from a 1 star rating. They also included deep fried feta cheese sticks along with the mozzarella sticks, which was unexpected and delicious. But the lack of a good dipping sauce was a big let down. The waitress was also nowhere to be found once our food came out, despite there being only 1 other table of people in the place other than those at the bar, and eventually we had to go up to the bar to get a drink. And probably the worst offense was the Yuengling beers that were completely watered down! My Yuengling should not be comparable to Coors Light. I’ll eat my leftover fried pickles and mozz sticks, but I don’t plan on going back.

I was shocked to see some of the reviews on here about this place! It 100% depends on what you are looking for. Yes, it is not an upscale place, yes, you need a 21+ ID to be served alcohol, and yes, its a towny sports bar, family style restaurant. The Pro’s: 1. Cost– every meal is priced affordably. Also good portion size. 2. The service– very friendly. We go maybe once every other month, and by no means are regulars, but they always seem to remember us, and we always get really exceptional service. 3. The company. Just a group of local’s, friendly atmosphere. It is not a BAR, CLUB, or fancy restaurant. Con’s: 1. Food is so-so, but so is the menu. Its very much family style, which I think adds to the environment. 2. If you like super speedy service, its rather slow here–(not a con in my book– more like a very relaxed environment. Over all, I love the experience. This goes a long way in my book!

Average is the word for this place. The setting is like someone’s old cabin that happens to have a bar. The service is typical south shore lunch pail’s who have minimum friendliness. The food is large in portion size, but makes me feel line I’m eating over a friend’s house who’s Mom can’t quite cook. My parent’s like this place for some reason. I don’t really share their sentiment.

Just as an fyi to anyone who has an under 21ID, they will not serve you alcohol even if its not expired yet. Turned 216 months ago-and doesnt expire until 2016. She refused to serve me. They been caught serving underaged kids, so now no1 can have drinks until they get a new licence no matter how old you are. Just lost automatic 3 customers

My only problems with the place is feeling pressured to leave tips,(do you need change)? Why not just ask«may I keep the change?» I haven’t been there in a couple of years and hope some of the help working behind the scenes either stay there or take care to look like they work in a kitchen preparing food for others to eat. I’m saying two stars because personal appearance, professionalism and etiquette mean a great deal to me as well as what comes out of the kitchen. Those qualities are reflections of your attitude toward yourself and what you do.

Breakfast review: Not wanting to wait in line for breakfast at Niko’s we stopped in here. My dad once said they had great homemade hash. My husband did not feel the same way when he ordered it. I had an omelette. It was oily and lacked seasoning. Our waitress was friendly and efficient but this is just not a place I’d come back to for breakfast. It’s a bar. I feel like they are specifically open for breakfast in order to make a few bucks off of the Niko’s line spillover. I learned my lesson and will wait for Niko’s, no matter how long it takes.

Went there for the first time tonight, seemed like a nice bar with an older crowd but that didn’t bother us. Started with the scallop and bacon appetizer, which should have been awesome in theory but wasn’t. Scallops came out in less than five minutes and were large, looked nice but as we tasted them they were clearly deep fried. Not a great flavor at all, served over greens drizzled in balsamic… like I said, should have been great but were not. For dinner, I had the baked scallops, rice pilaf and asparagus. The scallops were bizarrely salty and baked in butter, rice was cold and greasy and the asparagus was cooked strangely, seared on one side and cold. A miss in my book. My husband had the baked haddock which he enjoyed, served with steamed carrots and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were COLD and flavorless. Service was fine but overall the food was far from memorable, will not be returning.

Went again recently when we were out and it was just too hot to cook at home. We’re done. We won’t go back. We had one of our long time waitresses that we’ve known for years, and she’s apparently succumbed to the new way — ignoring the customers. Was more interested in chatting with her co-workers than seeing if we needed another drink or anything. Chicken parm was thin and hard, overcooked. Beer was lukewarm. As is now usual, we sat there with dirty dishes around us wondering if we were allowed to order another drink. We’ve been going there since my son was a toddler ordering mozzarella sticks and kids’ menu grilled cheeze. he’s now 17 and we are done, so done. They obviously don’t care about service or quality anymore. I agree that a dollar pizza is a great deal. But that’s all this place is good for anymore.

Haven’t eaten here in over 2 years, didn’t like it then but thought we would give it another try. I had the twin lobster for $ 16.99 came with two sides plus soup or chowder… cant beat that. I think they forgot to put the clams in the clam chowder and it was tasteless. Got baked potato which was barely warm, cauliflower which looked like it was just pulled from the garden it was so dirty and ice cold… lobsters were good, how could you screw that up. Friend got barbecue special, with chicken and pork, she got fries and broccoli, she said the chicken was dry, and the pork smelled funny, turns out the barbecue sauce was disgusting, broccoli was ice cold. she also got the beef barley soup which was missing the beef. Oh well, we gave it one last try…
