Hands down the best service of any Greater Boston Suburban Legal Seafood location. Extremely professional, hands on and attentive management team. James and Rob go out of their way to interact with diners and make sure the experience is exceptional. Some nearby Legal locations would do well to send their teams to Hingham and observe how a first rate establishment is run. My family and I will continue to drive past three closer Legal locations to dine in Hingham. Keep up the great work!

My server was excellent. The raw oysters and clams were some of the best I ever had. The only drawback was that the chef(this is Wednesday, May 4 at about 8:30 pm) didn’t deign to answer a couple of simple questions about what types of clams they had despite being asked several times.(I was seated at the little oyster bar.) I guess he thought that was not his job. Anyway, I just wonder what kind of pride a chef so dismissive of his customers takes in his work. Otherwise,.a great experience.

Desert: expresso with Boston cream pie! all was deliciousss! Cool semi industrial feel, music but not blasting, great place

The Sangrias are so good(red to be exact) Bang bang cauliflower is something that everyone should try! White clam pizza is something that I normally wouldn’t order but is worth every bite. The staff is really friendly and make great recommendations!

I am not sure why other Unilocalers give that place low ranking. I personally think this one is one of the best legals in Boston area. The food is always fresh and well prepared, service is super nice and the overall atmosphere is really great. The main advantage over other locations is that the restaurant is so big, u never have to wait for a table,

There is a lot to like here. The ambiance is good. It is generally crowded(in a pleasant«there are people here» way — not an «I will never get a seat» way), and there are many dishes we like here — especially the crab cake. Crab is the key ingredient instead of bread crumbs. Our challenge is that the sushi is weak. Virtually all include fish that is fried, spicy or otherwise flavored. We tried the blackened tuna sashimi tonight, and all we could taste was the blackened, not the tuna. It makes me concerned for the freshness of the fish overall. I guess I will just stick with their cooked fish dishes, and pray that it is fresh.

The service was unsatisfactory. Bathroom was not stocked. Food was pretty decent however all the negatives in customer service outweighed the food.

This place is an absolute rip off. I went last night for dinner with my boyfriend. He ordered lobster mac and cheese. You would think for $ 25 you could get at least a lobster tail worth of meat? There was hardly anything in it at all. I ordered salmon and my cut of fish was not even the width of an inch. If they want to make the food this expensive they should actually give people a true serving size. I believe that quality over rides quantity but when your paying $ 25 for lobster mac and cheese ands it’s literally just a casserole dish of over cooked noodles and peas with trace amounts of lobster in it, then I think there is a problem. We will not be returning.

Service– 5 stars! My mom and I split our meal and drink and they gave us no problem and generous portions! The sushi was delicious, I am a picky sushi person but will return for the sushi. My pasta dish was delicious as well. Can’t wait to come back.

Legal C Bar hosted my business Oh Baby! Fitness for another amazing event! The food was delicious, the Sushi boats were a hit this year. For the 2nd year in a row we had the fabulous and very attentive Thomas as our server. I would highly recommend Legal C Bar for a fun Ladies Night Out or work event. Thanks again for having us!

Legal C in Derby Street Shoppes is a go to place for dinner for my fiancé and I. We often book a table on Open Table earlier on in the day, and go right from work on the weekends. I love all the appetizers so usually an appetizer spread and a glass of Chardonnay for me and an IPA for my fiancé. Great wine and beer selection. Favorite appetizer is the bang bang cauliflower and ahi tuna slices. They need to bring back their popcorn shrimp that was served with a caramel popcorn, sounds weird but so good! Other favorites when getting a dinner dish; lobster roll, Spanish paella, and Tuna burger. Honestly have never gotten a bad meal. My fiancé has an allergy to shellfish and I have never been more comfortable with dinning at a seafood place. The staff really is particular with food allergies and usually a manager will drop it off at your table. Dessert recommendations; in the fall the pumpkin cheesecake was the best cheesecake I have ever had! So moist, fluffy, and flavorful. If we don’t see the cheesecake the banana’s foster will also fix you sweet tooth fix!

Legal is reliably fresh and delicious. It can be pricey but is usually worth it. My raw(and cooked) seafood plate was everything I could have wanted. My server, Joey, steered me to the best, briny, plump raw oysters. They melted in my mouth. The clams were sweet and juicy. The crab legs were as good as frozen ones can be. I am not sure they were worth the time and effort but they were a nice diversion while I was digesting the oysters. The sourdough rolls are reason enough to eat here. They are hot– crunchy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. The vibe here is different than the regular Legal. It feels a little hipper but one does not need to be hip to enjoy a meal.

Love this place! The food and atmosphere is excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone. My go to is usually a salad and one of their pizzas. I’m starting to branch out and recently tried the truffled lobster mac and cheese and it was out of this world!

I stopped by Legal C Bar for lunch on Easter Sunday and I was not disappointed. I was warmly greeted at the door by two employees and two of the managers, James and Jeff, made sure to come by our table to make sure that our meal and drinks were to our satisfaction. Our server, Gary, was on-point with his service and his appetizer recommendation was terrific. Even though both my wife and I were full but went for dessert and we are glad we did. We were floored by the ice cream bon bons and Boston Cream pie. I look forward to coming back in the near future and sampling more of the offerings on the menu.

«Chad’s Eats» review of Legal C Bar Cuisine: Seafood(traditional & creative) /Raw bar Location: Hingham, MA at Derby Street Mall Parking: Ample free parking. No issues. Can be congested around Christmas time. Décor /Ambiance: Modern, spacious, creative design consistent with the Legals brand. Nice bar if you want to sit there. High energy place being so big. Greeting: On point team, warm very attentive staff greets you. Well organized and will get you seated as soon as possible if you have no reservations. During peak times there can be quotes of up to 45 minutes waits so I recommend reservations in advance especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Menu mix: Predominately seafood but don’t fret if you don’t care too much for seafood because the do offer a great steak, ½ roasted chicken and a few other non seafood options. Water /Bread service: Basic, adequate. This is a par baked roll finished on sight. You’ve had them at other places. Most commonly referred to as a «Rudi» roll however other companies do same roll. Don’t get me wrong they are very good when warm and fresh out of the oven which they seem to always be at Legals. Drink pour: Standard wine pour which for me equates to a light pour. I have always believed it’s good policy to serve a slightly heavy pour when it comes to wine. Yes it effects liquor cost when the restaurant crunches it’s numbers but I firmly believe it will help with return business. Food quality: I have always been a fan of the Legals brand. This company has grown and changed over the years and even has variations within the company. For example Legal Crossing is a high end eclectic concept. There are other locations that will have very different menus so you can’t say if you have been to one Legals you have been to all. The Legal C Bar in Lynnfield features sushi. We had a great meal here as well once. Legal Harbourside in the seaport district is quite unique as well, the lower level is their basic concept and upstairs is high end. Service: Staff are always well trained and well informed. I can’t recall ever being not satisfied with how well we were taken care of. They have a great training system and high standards. Value: Consistent with quality of food. You may find pricing higher in the city compared to locations out of the city. You pay for the real-estate. Not having to pay for parking at Legal C Bar in Hingham is a plus and adds to the value. For example when we eat in town we add parking to the food bill because it ties together in my opinion. Bathrooms: Spotless. Modern, well maintained. Would I return? We always do. It’s one of our standards. We canceled a restaurant reservation in Somerville due to weather and were able to secure a 7:30 reservation at Legal C Bar on short notice. That’s not to say that it’s a second or third choice it’s just that we enjoy trying new places and we have been to legals so much.

I came here because I parked in front. I came here because Burtons was tried and was mediocre. I came here because the hostess opened the door for me and I thought that was a start of a new friendship for a Derby Street Shopping plaza that I frequent often. I might not be visiting here as often as I would like to but might opt for the William and Sonoma treats the staff makes instead. Sat at the bar… A great restaurant set up. I remarked that if I was to set up a restaurant I would do it in the Legal C fashion. 5 stars for the set up with a nice large bar in the front, sitting along the side and a continuation of the bar that extends to the«raw bar». Bartender was super nice. over the top nice. which was not nice. She had her back to us way to much but checked on us and tried to up sell us which is what she should have done. She needed help even though there was only a few people sitting at the bar. She had an order from the Raw Bar and it took forever for the order to come and the bartender was more aggravated than the customer. The Raw Bar guy was Slooooow. Steak Tip lunch/dinner was way over priced for what we had and the Cubano, while good was charred burnt on the outside and it reflected with the taste of it through out. It was not the bartenders fault and I didn’t want to send it back to wait. I endured and ate it. but left shortly after to get something somewhere else to get the taste out of my mouth. 2 male managers sat and talked about business but I was wondering would it kill them to walk up to the 5 tables that were taken and check on the customer? Just not to impressed. I’ll try the other one in the Derby Street plaza. Might come back here. Might not.

This bar/restaurant comes as a welcome replacement for Jasper White’s Summer Shack which had been in this spot previously. I’m not a fan of any of the Summer Shacks and was not sorry that it pulled out of the Derby Street shopping area. The Legal C bar has been nicely reconfigured with an open, sleek concept using a neutral palette giving it a modern, clean feel. Although it’s open for lunch and dinner I’ve only been here for lunch or to sit at the bar with a drink and appetizers. We’ve been warmly welcomed at each visit by the hosts which is a nice beginning. Overall, the servers and bartenders we’ve met have been knowledgeable and helpful. Legal C is a off-shoot from the Legal Seafoods restaurant company. According to their website the name Legal C indicates the hope of capitalizing on «classic fare, like clams, cod, crab and calamari along with classic cocktails in a contemporary and comfortable experience». So yep, they’ve gotten a lot of the letter«C» in that description and I’d say they’ve pretty much gotten it right. There are 3 other Legal C’s in the greater Boston area so it’s been a big roll out of the Concept. On one visit we sat at the bar in the early evening just for a drink and an appetizer. I had a lovely and delightfully dry prosecco while my husband had a craft beer that had been recommended by the bartender. We shared an order of calamari which you can get one of two ways; either Thai style or the one we chose, Rhode Island style. The calamari came out freshly made, piping out and delicious. The rings and tentacles are been dipped in a batter that after frying, were absolutely delicious. There were an assortment of hot peppers mixed in. It was the combination of this batter and the absolute freshness of the calamari and preparation that made this dish a standout. We have also tried the fried pickles twice now. Like calamari fried pickles are everywhere these days but the ones here taste particularly good. More recently we went for lunch and this was a less successful visit. I ordered the fish tacos which came out cold. Similarly my husband’s Cubano sandwich was cold too. Our attentive server, Mike, whisked them both back to the kitchen and when they reappeared both dishes had been heated thoroughly. Overall, the 3 fish tacos were good and quite filling; I couldn’t finish the last one. The sauce on them was tangy and delicious. I should have asked to switch out the rice and beans which came on the side since I don’t eat either. I did taste them however only to discover they were very bland and utterly unexciting anyway. The Cubano sandwich which came with a side of fried plaintains was very much enjoyed. The sandwich was large and my husband saved the other half to take home. While the jury is not entirely in on Legal C simply because we haven’t had ample opportunity to try more things on the menu, my experiences thus far have been such that I do look forward to additional visits to check out more of the menu. My best visits have been to sit at the bar with a drink and an appetizer. Those have been solid 4-star experiences.

In town on business, wanting seafood, we tried Legal C(been to Legal Seafoods, just never this place). Atmosphere. was nice. I had a cup of clam chowdah… it was good not amazing. I was between two dishes, and Nick the waiter steered me to the lobster roll instead of the Tuesday night special(a bowl full of seafood in a light tomato broth). He said if i hadn’t had the lobster roll I had to get it. It was so mediocre. A co worker got the special and she let me try… yup…Nick wrong. Damn. I would try Legal C again… just on a Tuesday night and not listen to Nick! He was a good waiter though… and can’t totally blame him. it was my choice in the end.

Trekked out of Boston to come here with my girlfriend and her family after hearing such good reviews and was not disappointed in the least. Overall summary for dinner was cauliflower, lobster Mac and cheese, oysters, and Boston cream pie dessert. For those sticking around for a detailed review, here you go: Drinks — I wanted a mojito and requested a peach flavor and the bartender was happy to oblige. Great service start. Appetizers — the fried cauliflower was fantastic. Really crispy texture and didn’t feel oily. It helps that it’s a vegetable and I felt almost healthy eating it. The oysters were awesome. The chef came to ask how we liked the food early on and it was a great gesture. Entrée — lobster Mac and cheese had plenty of lobster meat. Not sure what all the other reviews about the Mac and cheese are griping about. It was very good and filling and the crumbs on top was a nice touch to give it a crunch. Dessert — Boston cream pie. I’m glad I have my second stomach for dessert because it would’ve been a shame to miss out on this. Décor — I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. It was a great crowd and there is enough seat separation so it doesn’t feel like you’re sharing your meal with everybody and their moms. Such a great experience and I will be taking my parents here when they come up to visit.
