Learned to dive there. Got dry suit certified there and purchased/rent my gear from there. Best place around!

I took several classes with SSD and will probably sign up for more in the future. They have great knowledgable diving instructors. Classes were well organized, thorough, and focused. Pool and open water dives were also well organized and performed in safe manner. I also got all my diving gear from them. I rarely shop in brick and mortar stores but their prices were reasonable(even comparing to many online stores) and they helped me choose the right equipment, prepared and assembled everything, and provided preventative maintenance services.

My husband and I started our diving experience here, and we have nothing but great things to say about them. The classes were taught very well– they were VERY thorough, and extremely reasonable. We’ve now been divers for a couple years, and every time we come in the shop, they are so friendly and helpful for anything we need! Once you’ve gone there, it’s like you’re family. Items are always always in stock. I think maybe ONCE they didn’t have a certain bag in, and he ordered it right away for us. Prices are great– comparable to what you can find on ebay, and we would rather buy from them anyway because of the safety factor. We will definitely continue to go here– it’s a great local shop that offers charters, advice, and continuing education. I think my husband would live there if he could!

We’ve been using South Shore as our dive shop since moving to Quincy. The owner and his wife are really helpful about selecting and purchasing major new equipment, so we’ve mostly dealt with them unless we’re just getting fills or buying something simple. Repairs are regular service are handled quickly. Also, they seem fairly well organized as compared to some other shops I’ve been to — there seems to be something about people who own dive shops not being great with paperwork. Prices seem typical — obviously diving is a specialty sport and everything is pretty pricey at any shop. Rentals are definitely cheaper here than at our previous local spot, United Divers in Somerville, or as compared to Cape Ann Divers, so if you live on the South Shore but dive on Cape Ann, I’d go here. Only downside is their Sunday hours — they aren’t open Sundays in the winter, and close early on Sundays in the summer, so if you’re renting gear on a Sunday you’ll need to bring it back on Monday. Given that it’s a family business, I can live with this. Now, if only my entire dive season wasn’t blown because I’m pregnant!
