I came at a bad time. Like Ernesto said, the staff seems to change a lot so I hope they got rid of that female employee. I came with a friend to sell her Nintendo DS and so we start the procedure: do you have the stylus, are there any defects/issues, and most importantly, does it turn on? Let me clarify now that yes, in fact it does work, and what she did next make me cringe and reconsider the competency of Gamestop’s hiring process. She turns it on and the DS comes to life. Cool. The employee takes out Nintendogs to put in the DS and test to see if it works. Without shutting off the DS, she inserts the game and waits for it to show up. It doesn’t. You have to turn it off and then insert the game for it to show up. We watch in awe. She says it doesn’t seem to work and that Gamestop can’t take it. We laugh a bit thinking it’s a joke. She stares cluelessly. After suggesting she shut the DS off and then try inserting the game, she looks a bit confused but does it. Lo and behold, it works! She laughs and goes whoops, I guess it does work and proceeds to offer us buying options. The prices are more costly compared to deals you can find online, but when you can’t wait for shipping, I guess Gamestop is the place to go. The store has a decent selection, but hey, as long as they have the popular names, I can’t complain.

I’ve got to admit, that although the staff changes almost as regularly as their inventory, I think that they make an effort to hire real Geeks. These people they bring on know their stuff, rumors of stuff, stuff related to other stuff, stuff I’ve never heard of, stuff about stuff I’ve thought people had long forgotten. It restores my faith in American youth. Blaze on GameStop, blaze on.

As the wife of a nerd, you know I frequent this place from time to time. They have a great selection of used games, and we can usually find what we want. The employees are very helpful and friendly and are always willing to make conversation. They are definitely more expensive that buying online, but it is convenient– especially if you want to pre-order games. They usually have specials with pre-ordering as well. This store is a bit smaller than other ones I have seen, but it is still good nontheless.
