We went to the Seafood Buffet at Wilson lodge on Friday evening. Most of the food was cold. They offered very little seafood at all. They had snow crab legs and smoked salmon. That’s ALL in the way of seafood. No lobster no mussels no oysters etc. it’s was 36.00 a person and the food was so poor including the desserts. My husband and I agreed we’ve had better meals at Wendy’s Save your time and your money and go somewhere else. The only nice part was our waitress.

This place has so much potential but sadly falls so short. The décor screams classy and the service has excellence written all over it but the food doesn’t even meet the price tag in the middle. For 5 people and 1 $ 8 glass of wine the bill came to $ 177 before tip. We opted for the holiday buffet at $ 32 each. It was more like a $ 15 buffet, MAX! Very disappointing. Our server was amazing so I didn’t let the subpar food reflect in his tip. He worked very hard and efficiently to keep our party of 10 taken care of at all times. I read the reviews on here and almost decided against trying it, so in a way it’s my fault. Unfortunately we were on vacation and nobody wanted to drive far to go to the other places I found that had better reviews. We took our chance thinking maybe the reviews were wrong or maybe they just had an unlucky experience since there were only a few reviews. Well, they didn’t! According to other reviews and the personal experience of our party, the food seems to be consistently underwhelming. For $ 32 each I would stay away. Not worth it! At that price tag one should expect excellent and uniquely prepared food. I could’ve easily duplicated any of the meals at home with little effort. Service and décor were excellent! The food, subpar and boring! Don’t waste your money, stay in your lodge or cabin and order papa johns instead if you’re staying at Oglebay. That’s how disappointing it was to my wallet. 1 star for the décor and 1 star for excellent service. 3 star deduction for overpricing, unoriginal food selections and taste. Hopefully these reviews will help them and inspire a will to either be more inventive and unique with their menu or at least bring the price tag down to a fair range for what they are currently offering.

Every year we pick a special place for our family Christmas dinner. Previously we have chosen places such as seven springs, grand concourse. Places of a similar price point. This was the same price point but the quality of food was not even close. I wondered why the place was half empty. There where 8 hot choices, 2 carving stations. Dry chicken, over done prime rib, rubber ham. The salad that I made was pretty good but honestly eat n park has better food. Would never go back and wouldn’t recommend anyone else ever go there.

Oglebay is a stunningly beautiful park/resort, particularly near Christmas. Was there last night for a wedding shower/dinner. There were ten of us and half of us ordered the buffet and the others ordered from the menu. The food was good, the buffet was expansive, the cake we ordered from there was incredibly delicious. The wine list was extensive and the service(Debbie) was very good and thorough, particularly with separate checks. The view of the Christmas lights was very nice. My only criticism is that the buffet is overpriced. It does include tea, coffee, and pop.

Oglebay majorly suffers from delusions of grandeur. If you’d ask them, this place is fabulous! If you ask me: mediocre food, bad service, lousy and inept management. Please, oh, please — no one make me come back here. It’s not worth the frustration.

Horrible service. Management has no idea how staff for a busy night. I was told upon sitting down, entrees from the menu would be a 45 minute wait. That is unacceptable by any standard in the restaurant industry. Add to that the GM argued with me about it, claiming that 45 minutes was a more than adequate wait time for entrees.

The best in Wheeling by far. I would highly recommend ordering off the menu rather than choosing the buffet. The steaks are just so delicious! And the Jalapeño Crab Bisque is truly amazing. Their is also a beautiful view overlooking the rolling hills.

We ate here for their«Holiday Buffett.» It was Veteran’s Day, but the Holiday in question was Christmas at Oglebay, as it happened to be the first night of their«Festival of Lights.»(The Festival of Lights display is a big deal in these parts, attracting over a million visitors a year according to their brochure and some special I once saw on the Travel Channel. I can only imagine how crowded it must be when it’s actually Christmas season.) The Wilson Lodge is situated up on the top of a hill overlooking the Olgebay resort. We had a nice view out the window of the golf course lit up with the Christmas lights displays. The price was $ 29 a person, and the selection was very extensive. Prime Rib, ham, turkey, pork loin, beef stew… and more things I can’t remember. The food was pretty good and the most memorable item was their Bread Pudding on the dessert bar. It was amazing. The carving station attendant was very friendly and told me a story about visiting New Jersey to go to a Kevin Smith convention. I overheard that throughout the rest of the year there’s a seafood buffet on Fridays.
