I didn’t know what to expect when my wife and I arrived. Reservations were full at X20 in Yonkers, so we wasn’t in a great mood upon arrival. First off, instead of bringing a basket of bread or rolls, they brought several types of pastries. One type was an almond crossiant that my wife loved! They also brought a complimentary bellini, that was very good! We both had omelettes… mine was a shrimp and asparagus omelette that was very good and fresh. The service, and food was very good and the prices reasonable for a brunch. I shall return!

As much as I love living in NYC, the one downside is I don’t get to visit Sams as much as I would like to. The brunch is killer, the dinner turkey burger is the juiciest I’ve had, and the Nutella gluten free dessert is one of a kind! Keep up the amazing food and vibrant environment!

The only reason that I find myself at Sam’s of Gedney Way is because this is where the model airplane club that I’m a member of has their yearly club dinner. In the past the food selection that was offered to us was very good. They would start us off with some individual pizzas to share. This was followed by a very nice antipasto platter of meats and cheeses, olives and peppers, etc. Then we would have a salad and platters of beef, chicken and a fish were brought out for us to share. This was followed up with dessert and coffee or tea. Everything was tasty and a good time was had by all. Fast forward to this year, 2016. They no longer offer these menu choices. At the hour that our club meets Sam’s could only offer us a weird brunch mix. It started off with a salad which was not half as good as what we had in previous years. They then brought out bowls of breakfast potatoes and bowls of broccoli and cauliflower. Breakfast sausages and French toast were followed by small platters of roast beef and salmon to share. Dessert and coffee followed. This«meal» was a substantial down grade from previous years. I did not feel that I received as much bang for my buck, $ 45, as in previous years. For that amount of money I could have had a much better dinner anyplace else. But I understand this is a club thing but I believe our club was ripped off and if I get my say this will be our last club«dinner» at Sam’s of Gedney Way. The potential for a good meal is there but it was sadly lacking this time. Your results may differ.

Best Old Fashioned in Westchester. Steakhouse burger may be the best burger in Westchester. Best bartender(Dr. Phil!). List of bests goes on. Also best private parking.

I was not very impressed with Sam’s after hearing great things about it-actually fairly disappointed. We went for brunch earlier today and as expected the prices are quite high. The staff wasn’t very efficient or too friendly and our food was average at best. I do have to admit the décor in the restaurant is very nice and the basket of pastries you get with brunch as well as the included brunch drinks are a treat. My home fries were cold and mushy and my egg white quinoa scramble was plopped on the plate with no garnish and looked very messy. We even had to ask for refills of our coffee as the waiter did not come by to refill our glasses. Unfortunately the entire experience was average at best and I was expecting much more from all the hype I hear about the place. I definitely won’t be back for brunch again but may consider trying lunch or dinner there in hopes it would be better. When I go to an upscale brunch where omelettes are $ 17+ I expect exceptional food and service.

My dad used to go here in the 50’s and 60’s. Living in San Francisco, we don’t have enough simple, solid American food spots like this. It is cozy and warm and old school and you get a burger or a salmon and a glass of wine, and leave happy.

My sister took me here, explaining that it’s one of her favorite places to go and I can see why. We sat at these cute little tables next to the bar, had fantastic service, and food that was excellent start to finish. The atmosphere is a little on the nicer side so I was a bit embarrassed that we were coming right from the gym but no one batted an eye at us. I could see a nice selection of bourbon and rye behind the bar, which is always a plus for me. And their wine and cocktail menu looked good as well. My sister got a steak special with pepper jack mac and cheese and asparagus, while I went a classic route and got a cheeseburger. While we were waiting, some people at the bar had ordered a bunch of half price happy hour apps and their coconut shrimp looked so good that we ended up ordering one too! I couldn’t believe how fast they had it out to us after we ordered and it was seriously good. It was served on a bed of, what I think was jicama mango coleslaw. Whatever it was, we enjoyed it. The main courses were spot on. Both burger and steak were cooked exactly as ordered, the presentation of each was lovely, and the taste… on point. One thing I really appreciated about the burger(as something of a burger snob) was that while the burger was moist and juicy, at no point did my roll get soggy. Not when they served it. Not when I packed the leftovers. Not when I took it out to reheat it the next day. The steak fries were also some seriously good steak fries. All in all I have to say I’m sorry that I was only visiting and don’t get to make this place a regular. My sister says they do great corn beef and cabbage for St. Patty’s Day. I may need to come back and visit…

The food was pretty good, the staff were extremely courteous and friendly. They are very child friendly as well, which is nice. A few of the staff members come off as a bit patronizing, which isn’t the worst thing in the world and I guess it can be hard to find a balance when you’re in the hospitality business. It was a pleasant atmosphere, I’d rate the food quality as above average and the price was not bad for what you get. All-in-all we had a nice experience and would definitely come back.

I had brunch with two friends today. Wonderful again. Great Bloody Mary and delicious eggs Benedict again. Delicious rolls included almond croissant, little pastries and scone. With hot coffee at the end, a big strong cup, $ 18 each plus tip. My friend got the salad with wheatberry grain. She said that was delicious.

This review is based off of my brunch experience. First, let me say that the restaurant is clean, the staff is professional, and the food was plated very well. The restaurant has a very classic, old school décor which I appreciated. Our hostess seated us right away, and our server John took care of us right away. Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas were included with our brunch. The prices were very reasonable: We had the portobello sandwich and the turkey club. And I think one of the nicer details was that they provided warm croissants instead of bread at the beginning of our experience. All in all, very pleasant experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. I would do brunch there again, and possibly delve into their dinner menu in the near future.

This was a great experience from the reservation phone call(t u Peter) to the dessert. The staff was lovely, normal, and casually competent. Appetizers are varied, creative, and reasonably priced. I had the mushroom cheese straws… excellent! Hubby had the mussels which he enjoyed. 12 oz sirloin cooked 2 perfection with fresh green beans atop a bed of mashed potatoes and a grilled portabello. excellent marriage of flavors. Naturally saved room for dessert. Wow. glad I did. I had a homemade ring ding with fresh whip cream and caramel sauce. I will definitely be returning with my entourage. Plenty of street parking which is free after 6pm. Prolly going to try brunch on the patio dahhhlinggg

Excellent food and service! I had the salmon burger(added avocado) and it was delicious! The kaiser potato roll was the perfect accompaniment for this sandwich. It was too much to finish but the leftovers made a tasty evening snack. I’ll be coming more often as I saw other menu items coming out of the kitchen that looked tasty; though it may be hard to miss out on the salmon burger. The owner was on site and involved in keeping everything running smoothly and checking in with customers. So glad to have a place of this caliber in the area.

For being a place that is pretty run-of-the-mill, nothing special or different than any other restaurant in Westchester, Sam’s should really treat their customers better. I found this place after reading a «Best Place for Brunch in Westchester» magazine article. It is clean they are staff is friendly BUT I have a dairy allergy and the chef did not listen when I said no butter or cheese. The manager in response, instead of being nice asked me if «I need an epi pen» when I started to have a serious reaction after eating my breakfast because it was full of butter. Food allergies are not a choice. I find that those who do not take their customer request seriously, should not be serving food. I will never be going back.

Have been here twice now for business-related mealsb(CE lunch session and business association dinner). Food has been good both times and the service has been stellar. Staff are attentive and available when you need them. Their apps and buffet have been satisfactory. Parking in the back is a big plus. We will probably host more gatherings here in the very near future.

Sam’s has become our«favorite place» to go for constantly delishous dinners. Sometimes if we are craving a hamburger or just a relaxing and quiet place to go for dinner, we will head over to Sam’s on Gedney Way for what we have found to be consistently great meals. A few days ago when I picked my wife up at the train, we realized that unless we wanted to eat oatmeal for dinner, we were in need of a good place to go for dinner, and while there are lots of restaurants near us, we have grown accustomed to the high quality and wonderful service that we always receive at Sams. It tuned out to be «restaurant week» and while we normally do not eat three courses, everything looked so wonderful, we splurged! I had the wild salmon and my wife had the filet minion. The steak was tender and melted in my mouth(when my wife shared some with me, and the salmon was moist and delicious. For dessert, my wife had the biscotti plate and I had their baked apple. And while you might conjure up a baked apple from a dinner, this was no ordinary apple. In fact it was so incredible, I may never be able to eat another one, until I get their recipe! While this week we had their Price Fixed Dinner Menu, normally we just order one of their great salads and a hamburger and split them ! The wonderful thing is that everything we have ordered over few years has been of the same exceptional high quality.

Brunch is great, but the service and management always seems to lack. This time around we were given an 11am reservation and when got there, the staff informed us that they don’t open until 11:30am. Why give an 11am reservation then?!? So now we’re stuck waiting at the bar… WTF?!?

I’m a big fan of Emma’s and Rooster’s on Gedney, and I’ve always been curious about Sam’s. This past Tuesday we got a chance to have lunch there. We decided to eat outside on their charming patio since it was so nice out. Though not incredibly fancy, it’s certainly pleasant and breezy and an excellent alternative to the stuffy décor inside. After being promptly seated we ordered our food and drinks. Our Bloody Mary’s came out quickly, but they were weak and over simplified. The bartender must have been a rookie because the drinks seemed to only have 3 ingredients; vodka, tomato juice, and Tabasco. Where’s the horseradish? The Worcestershire? Kinda lame. As for the food, we went with a Greek quinoa salad with grilled chicken and a pulled pork sandwich with fries. After talking for a while, we noticed the food was taking ages to come out. Very odd, since the place wasn’t all that crowded. In total I would say we waited for at least 40 minutes before taking our first bite. The salad was fresh but it was mostly romaine lettuce with a handful of feta and a smattering of olives and tomatoes. More«stuff» would have been nice. The grilled chicken add on for $ 6 saved the day but overall it didn’t feel like a $ 20 salad. Way overpriced. The pulled pork sandwich was really huge and quite delicious. Loved the fries and the slaw too. Everything was spot on, and the $ 12 price was very fair. When we were done we asked for the check but again had to wait longer than anticipated. We were in a rush, so after 10 minutes we went out to the hostess station to pay. Just as we got there the waiter finally brought the check over. I have no idea why the service is so slow here but it really is annoying. I’d hate to see how slow it is when they get really packed. Sam’s gets 3 stars from me. Some ups, some downs, like many places. While I wouldnt put it at the top of my to do list, I would like to go back and try more of their BBQ one of these days.

We’ve been here a few times over the years, mostly for lunch. We took a chance for dinner tonight — who feels like cooking when it’s 90 degrees? We sat out on the patio and the evening was perfect. It turns out that Sam’s has added a new component to their normal menu — a barbecue menu which is, in fact, their catering arm brought in-house. So there are two separate menus on the table — lots of choices!(The 30 pounds of barbecued roasted pork sounds interesting!) The wait staff was perfectly nice and professional, even after it got really busy. I appreciate not having to wait 15 minutes for the waiter to pick up the credit card.(Why don’t restaurants all use Square or some other«swipe-at-the-table» device?) So, the food. We decided to order from the barbecue menu. My wife had grilled salmon and I had the barbecue chicken. The meals include corn on the cob and a nice biscuit-like bread item. I’d say we had our food within ten minutes of ordering. The chicken was tasty, but the white meat parts were dry. The corn was great, and the biscuit was … unusual but good. My wife’s large portion of salmon was perfectly cooked. She was able to take about half of it home for lunch tomorrow. All in all, a very pleasant summer evening out. So why 3 stars instead of 4? I’d really like to say 3.5 largely on the strength of the service and ambiance. The food was good, but not memorable. Certainly good enough to return again and again.

I love this place for brunch! They have unlimited mimosas and one of the only places that have brunch on Saturdays. I’ve been here twice and the service is great. Everyone is friendly and they don’t rush you out while you enjoy your third mimosa lol. The food is great and always presented very well.
