Definitely a stellar place for some good old fashioned barbecue. Just delicious! Casual spot on the side of the road to satisfy you craving for quality food

Big Man catered a work event — Archery Tag with Global Sessions(an event company). The food was EXCELLENT. I’m gluten free so was not sure what I could or could not have. When I asked I received the most warm and enthusiastic reply that it was all gf. He has a great personality for your party, the food cooking on the grill smells fantastic(sure to get your party salivating), and the chicken was divine. Thanks! We’ll be riding the moto to your location for certain.

After a day or kayaking, this is the best food you’re ever going to have. A little slow but well worth the wait.

5 stars for overall experience. You’re outside, surrounded by Gorge landscape. Open grills are smoking up chicken and pulled pork, oldies blasting out on radio. The pulled pork is s half pound of char crusted smoky pork. It’s not super moist, but there’s a decent amt of fat for flavor along with the rub & accompanying sauces. You can substitute a chapati for the tortillas. Chapati was hot, thick, hefty enough to wrap around the pork. Pile on a bit of the vinegary purple slaw and some green sauce for a flavor bomb. Bottles and cans of cold beer available. There are a few tables and counter stools inside, or sit outside and watch the cooking. Not sure if this is a year-round spot or not. I’ll be back — next time to try the combo chicken and pork plate. $ 11 for ½ pound pulled pork plate; $ 18 for chicken & pork combo.

Thank you Big Mans for a truly glorious dining experience! I’ve had BBQ in every southern state in the union and was blown away by the flavors, quality, and uniqueness of each dish. I will definitely be back!

Amazing pulled pork and truly impressive slaw. I was blown away by how good my wrap was. my wife’s was a tax dry, so next time we will ask for a wetter wrap. PROTIP: extra napkins encouraged

There is good food, and then there is the Yes, Boss. I’ve eaten here many times and the food is consistently great! You won’t be disappointed.

NOTE: The map directions on Unilocal are incorrect! The address is true, but the map takes you in the wrong part of the 141. I’d enter«Husum Hills Golf Course» for GPS directions(it’s right by Big Man’s). Big Man’s is quite simply amazing. I’d drive out from Portland just to eat here — I wish our food carts were as good as Big Man’s. The chicken and pulled pork combo is an excellent place to start — but I’d order a chapati on the side(rather than just sticking with the corn tortillas) because it’s delicious. This meal is great for 2 or if you want leftovers. I am partial to the pulled pork and highly recommend getting the ½ pound combo with chapati and greens! The greens(this week was kale) was incredible — buttered and steamed on the griddle. Perfect! Make sure you save room(impossible) for the Nyami Nyami dessert wrap(nutella and banana on chapati)

I don’t always make it to Husum but when I do, I always get Big Man’s. You will not be disappointed. The chicken is delicious, the pork is tender, the slaw is tangy, the chutney is tasty and there’s always Big Man with a smile.

Wow. I got The Nile Special, and asked for no coleslaw… He asked me if I was sure… I explained that I’m not a fan of creamy crossings and they don’t sit well with me. He explained that it was an Apple a Cider Vinegar based slaw… I stopped him and said lets do it. Skip forward a couple minutes and he’s cooking up the flatbread right in front of me. Another minute and I’m holding a delicious wrap in my hands, gobbling it up in no time. I can’t wait to go back! Two hours after eating I was still reveling in the feeling of comfort and joy from my first chapati!!!

A surreal dining experience. Unique and delicious food, tranquil views, and parking lot basketball. After eating here I am legitimately upset that I can’t get a Big Man chapati roll in Portland. Can’t wait to eat here again, a must-eat if you’re passing through the area.

I am a BBQ enthusiast and smoke and grill and everything along those lines, I will be the first to admit that this place is legit! We frequent the Hood river area and my wife looked up a good BBQ place. We hit the jack pot here. We will for sure be back. The flavors that are infused are incredible. If you are in a hurry however this may not be the place for you. Its quality first and you will wait for your great food.

Best food in the gorge hands down! Atmosphere, great service, unique menu options and close proximity to so many great outdoor activities make Big Man’s my go to. All of it is good but my favorites are the Lomo Chapati and the Nyami Nyami Chapati with bacon. The chicken is also delicious. Only spot to get Rotisserie in the gorge. Plus they have beer!

There is no better place to get amazing food than Big Mans. Honestly the best around. I have had the Lomo and the ½ chicken. Both are amazing.

A group of 22 of us went whitewater rafting and on the 5 min bus ride back to River Drifters rafting company afterwards one of our guides made everyone listen up: «Look to your left for the BEST place for lunch». All I can see is fields of land… barren of cooked food. So I’m thinking, oh this is a funny joke. The guide continues, «wait for it, wait for it…» a few more seconds and then he says«Bam! Look no further for lunch than Big Man’s Rotisserie! Your guide Teddy has his ‘Sweaty Teddy’ hot sauce avail here grown from his garden.» You’d think with an intro like that I’d be super excited since I was super hungry and THERE is NOOTHER restaurant as far as the eye can see. But you see, I’m not a huge BBQ fan. I clumped BBQ with rotisserie… meat, sauce and very American food. Eh. I have to be in the right mood. When my colleague suggested we take our international students, I was agreeable b/c I didn’t want to make a fuss. Where do I begin? First off, listen to the locals! When a GUIDE(should’ve been my 1st clue) says so, follow, no questions. Here’s the breakdown: — The two co-owners are awesome… well, maybe I though the 2nd one was SUPER cool and chill ’cause he chatted up with me the entire time with a laid-back attitude. The Big Man was a big more stressed or something but at the end he eventually loosened up. Who wouldn’t be when it’s only their 13th day in existence and a group our size just shows up! — Cooking is in the open-air countertop & ginormous rotisserie so you can talk to them while they work their cooking magic… and I had a great chat getting the scoop on everything(what I do best)! — ALL their incredible food is locally-sourced, natural, organic, from produce stands. — It takes them around 3 hrs to roast a chicken so when they run out that’s it till the next«feeding»(although you can order the other items, just not the rotisserie chicken). — Strawberry lemonade was delicious and homemade. — They prep in the morning so that everything is FRESH. I got to sample a tiny piece of rotisserie… they have some secret spices that they rub on… alas they only had 1 full chicken avail that they divided into 4 plates for the 4. The rest of us had the wraps — all fresh too! — Ugandan Chapati wraps: With our group our size, we ordered everything on their menu and NOONE complained b/c everything was SOSOGOOD. So good that I’m only a few days out from experiencing their cooking and I’m already contemplating when I can go back. I’m willing to make a 2 hr trip one-way just to have their food again… in the middle of practically no-where land! haha! The Eastern Indian flatbread is literally made in front of you. The dough is already prepped but it’s divided and rolled out then put on the griddle to quickly bake. Next they fill the tortilla-like wrap with savory goodness cooked right before your eyes. The Roll X with pepperjack, farm-fresh eggs, avocados, slaw, bacon and sweaty teddy’s sauce was perfect! I seriously am getting mad… that they aren’t closer to me. I think we’d be BFF’s if only Big Man Rotisserie was in Portland… maybe they’ll start a 2nd stand(here’s hoping) b/c it’s a hidden gem(no joke… see if you can find Husum, unincorporated county, on a map… so they simply say they are located in White Salmon, WA). The food stand is directly across from the Husum Hills Golf Course. Don’t let the building nearby scare you. Look for the multicultural flags and smells of goodness.
