First visit to the Greenbrier. We had reservations for 6 p.m. We were seated promptly. Our server was Ben and he answered all our questions and was very helpful. After looking at the menu the Chicken Parmesan caught my eye. Well when it came out I said wow! The portion size of the chicken was enough to feed two people. After one bite I decided I wasn’t going to let it go to waste sparingly ate the pasta and finished the chicken to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend it. Paired with Lambrusco it was a wonderful Italian meal.

This is fine restaurant in a fancy hotel. Ask to sit in the main dining room, it is a lovely space with romantic lighting. I particularly enjoyed the olive oil and balsamic vinegar that came with the bread course.

This place is definitely really adorable inside, although really not as «Italian» as one would think. I am a very harsh critic when it comes to pizza, and though I didn’t feel like the pizza was«amazing,» it certainly was just fine. The calamari, on the other hand, was awesome. Whoever thought about putting banana peppers in there is a genius. The woman next to us got the lamb and literally could not stop talking about how it was the best lamb she ever had. If I wasn’t a pescatarian, I would have pulled a «When Harry Met Sally» moment and said«I’ll have what she’s having.»

Great dinner @ The Forum @ The Greenbriar last night. Started w/the cheese plate, minestrone soup which was delicious, then finished with a perfectly prepared filet, mashed potatoes & seasonal vegetables. Our service as too good. Really, we had to tell our waitress to not hurry us. The ambience was nice, maybe a tad noisy. But felt like we were at a typical Italian family dinner. Would highly recommend.

Really loved dinner here. First of all, try the limoncello drink which will transport you to Italy but beware! You won’t taste the alcohol and will want to keep downing them like candy. For an appetizer, you must order the fried mozzarella. It’s incredibly fresh with a great bold flavor and perfect sauce paired with it. I’ve never thought much of mozzarella in the past but this converted me. Could have made a whole meal of it. The lobster flat bread pizza was perfect. I have a healthy appetite but couldn’t even finish the small. So delicious. Superb service here.

We love The Forum. Good Italian dishes in a quiet atmosphere. Fantastic wines. This is a nice addition to the Greenbrier, especially if you aren’t feeling fancy for the evening. I’m looking forward to staying at the Greenbrier again and eating here.

I stayed at the Greenbrier for a weekend with my dad. While I loved WV and definitely want to return to the Greenbrier, The Forum was a dark spot of the visit. We had a reservation for 8:30PM on a Friday night and arrived a few minutes early. We were told we would be called when the table was ready, and by the amount of people standing around directly outside I could tell we might be in for a wait. Around 8:45PM the hostess walked by after seating another table and asked for our name again, then informed us the table would be ready soon. We were finally seated at 9PM. Neither the hostess nor anyone else at the restaurant even managed to say«sorry» for being 30 minutes late on the reservation. After being seated it took a while for our waitress to even introduce herself, and even longer after that to get our first round of drinks. I probably had my first sip of beer at 9:15, over 45 minutes after our reservation time. The one bright side of the experience was the Parmesan cheese served with the bread, which I have to say was some of the best cheese I have ever had in my life. Unfortunately everything continued downhill from there. My dad started with the caesar salad and I started with the beef carpaccio. Based on the other review for this place on Unilocal,my dad made sure to ask for extremely light dressing on the salad as well as very light sauce on the entrée. Despite the request, the caesar salad came out dripping in dressing. The carpaccio came out in a paste-like consistency, which is not what I’m normally used to when I order carpaccio, but it was still not bad(although a pretty small quantity considering the price). For the entrees, my dad had a seafood(crab and shrimp, I believe) pasta dish, which despite the request of very light sauce, was more a butter sauce soup than a pasta dish. I had the trout, which was good. The night ended on a comedic note when I ordered a Bailey’s and was given a quantity that can be described as no more than 2 small sips(see picture attached). To the restaurant’s credit, we were comped the drink and dessert due to the check being delayed from a mistake on the computer(ironically, getting the check was the fastest thing all night and we would not have suspected anything had something not been said). I would recommend against coming to this restaurant, but unfortunately it has a bit of a captive audience(we got the impression the local dining outside the resort are limited, to say the least).

The Forum is a newer culinary addition to the Greenbrier. It’s menu includes several pasta dishes and coal-oven fired pizzas. The pizzas are good, I sampled a few from the table from the margarita to the pepperoni. I got the veal saltimbocca which was just OK. The linguini it came with was absolutely soaked in butter and oil to the point that it was dripping which was a little unappetizing. It was also a little undercooked/al dente for my taste, though definitely edible. The veal itself was overcooked — very grey and chewy. The pancetta seemed to be more of an after thought than something blending with the course, as there weren’t many pieces and they’d just be a surprise of texture more than anything else. If you go, I’d recommend taking the pizza route over the other entrees. Another warning is that the appetizers are very small portions. We had a table for 9 and ordered 3 apps. The fried mozzarella was 2 ping-ping sized balls(I believe, unless a third was hiding behind the arugula décor). The mushroom crostini came with just 3 pieces of crostini(bread). The calamari was a small plate taken up mostly by two sauce cups and lemons. You almost need 1 appetizer for every 2.5 people. You must get the tiramisu for dessert. It’s quite possibly the best I’ve ever had and I get it anytime it is offered when I’m out!
