I’ve had the opportunity to eat here several times now, and I think it’s a nice place to check out. PLEASENOTE that they have a big sign on the wall saying«No sushi snobs.» This is Montana, after all, and not Japan or California. I’ve traveled through Japan and speak Japanese, so I know the difference. But if you want a break from the usual offerings of the Flathead Valley, give them a shot. My first experience here 10+ years ago was awful.(I ordered shrimp tempura and they literally served me breaded shrimp that is available in the freezer section for cheap TV dinners.) I reluctantly returned several times in the last 3 years, and each time I’ve been pleasantly surprised that I really liked my food! I liked it enough that I’m looking forward to going back – again, not for authenticity in Japanese cuisine, but for a satisfying meal. Tonight we had the ultimate spider rolls, eel appeal rolls, omg it’s spicy rolls, and salmon skin rolls. They were great! I’ll order all of them again. My only tip would be to ALSO strongly consider visiting Sake To Me sushi bar in Bigfork. In my opinion they are better, and their prices are much less expensive. Seating is limited in both places, so a reservation may be needed if you want to get in.

Ages three to seventy one did a sushi feast in Whitefish on a busy Saturday night. We were seated promptly and the service was warm and friendly. I suspect we ordered one of almost everything on the menu, and everyone enjoyed every bit. There were 7 kids ages 3 to 15 and 6 adults, including one nonfish eater, and we all left happy and full. Definitely a go to place.

Wasabi is always THE place for Sushi! The epic rolls, Dynamite, Black Widow, Spicy Tuna, on and on, can eat here forever!

They were ok. I’ve been to quite a few sushi bars and they didn’t have some of the things that every sushi bar I’ve ever been to has. They didn’t have plum wine, half of their«sushi» menu is actually not raw, and their sashimi selection is quite sparse. Because of their lack of plum wine I ordered plum sake which was served to me in a wine glass which I have never seen before. As for the«sushi.» Putting some sort of meat and vegetable on sushi rice and rolling it up in nori does not sushi make. The Montana roll was just absolutely disgusting. The meat tasted canned and the caviar tasted like it had turned. The Nessie roll was amateur at best in regards to taste and preparation. The rainbow roll was good and the black widow was possibly the best roll on the menu. The service here was pretty awful. Idk what it is with Whitefish, MT, but the customer service around here is ‘if you’re not a local regular then F off.’ If you’ve never had sushi before or you’ve never gone anywhere outside a land locked state and had sushi then this place would be acceptable, but for the experienced sushi enthusiast do not come here! You will be highly disappointed as my husband and I were.

Overpriced for the quality of sushi served. I have had several rolls and nothing has been that special for the prices they serve. A couple times I have been there it smelled fishy when I walked in — so I left.

The most memorable thing about our 11th anniversary was the poor choice we made to eat out at what was once one of our favorite local sushi restaurants. We were overwhelmingly disappointment by the sushi we ordered for our celebration dinner. The tightly packed sushi rolls had little to no flavor as there was almost a complete absence of any types of distinguishing sauces, for this reason I referred to it as «dry sushi.» The presentation, always an important factor when eating good sushi was almost as bad as the food itself. All our rolls were packed side by side on the plate with no sauces on top, no type of garnish, no appeal. Clearly the new guys making the sushi knew nothing about sushi other than the technique they were taught for rolling it together. To be fair, the squid salad was good and our waitress, who has served us before, was super. In hindsight we could have spent a third less money on sushi from Super 1 and enjoyed it 100% more. Over the past several years we have found Wasabi to be very inconsistent with the quality and taste of the sushi they serve. Unfortunately we will not go back anytime soon. It’s a shame, having experienced what their food has been like in the past, to be so disappointed by its poor quality in the present. I gave one star for our waitress

I am always underwhelmed. The fish is never that fresh and the prices are outrageous compared to the quality of fish served. I appreciate the creative rolls especially those with some local flare. If you love sushi I would not recommend this option, if you are craving sushi this is your only option and edible.

Came here in September 2014 so this review is a tad outdated. I cannot compare how this Montana sushi stacks up to other Montana sushi, but I can say one thing for certain, I will not be eating sushi in Montana again anytime soon if this is representative. The fish did not seem very fresh. The non-fish ingredients seemed very out of place, and felt like they were only there to mask the true taste of the fish. There were many cooked fish sushi options, and I can understand why. I don’t think I have ever disagreed with the consensus to such a large degree on a restaurant before when looking at other reviews of this place. Either others don’t know what they are talking about, or the restaurant had an off night when we were there. The wait staff was friendly and attentive which has earned this place an additional star.

Very knowledgeable staff, plenty of cooked food(it’s not all raw fish) and gluten-free choices abound! Casual atmosphere but also suitable for a formal dinner. Reservations are helpful but they can usually squeeze you in at the bar.

So Theresa made this a 5 star experience! She was hands-down one of best servers I’ve ever had… in my life this is coming from living in Malibu, LA and Orange County. She obviously has passion for her profession and made the entire dining experience pretty magical(great taste in jewelry btw) I really hope to be one of her regulars! The sushi was good. It was as fresh as some I’ve had in the coast. The hamachi carpaccio was tasty(the fish was extremely fresh) but a little different from what I remembered(granted that was 6 years ago). I would prefer my saki not in a wine glass as I enjoy sipping out of the little ceramic cups most places offer and I enjoy my cold saki… It would be nice to see more by the bottle at a reasonable price as I know it’s possible. I will definitely be back. My BF really dug the artwork too.

I had a pretty good rainbow roll here, I couldn’t eat the pieces very well as they were huge so maybe just make the pieces a little smaller and it would’ve been an excellent rainbow roll.

Fabulous food! Many vegetarian options! A little spendy and crowded but it’s worth it.

Okay, so I really wanted to like this place. It was recommended to us by some locals so I was pretty pumped. It gets great reviews, so I was super pumped. I know that some people say that it’s a sushi place in MT so you have to adjust your expectations but it wasn’t great. I am a positive person so let’s start off with the good, the guy that filled up the water was great! He was always there to fill up the glasses and clear the plates. He was top notch. They also give you a cucumber salad that rocked! I was so hopefully when I ate that this was going to be so good. That is where the good things end. The sushi was poorly made. The rolls weren’t tightly rolled and the ingredients didn’t taste fresh. My husband had the sashimi and he swears that either the fish wasn’t fresh or it had been frozen. I had the dynamite roll and it was okay. The California Rolls were flavorless and the crab was chewy. The rolls were really small for the price too. The service was painfully slow, I get it was a long weekend but almost an hour for 4 rolls seems ridiculous and the waitress didn’t even apologize. Lastly, we made a reservation and we were offered either the window bar or the sushi bar. Walk ins were given tables… That’s kind of garbage if you ask my opinion. But the guy that delivered the water was top notch!

Sushi In Montana OK, so you’re in Montana. You want sushi. Why??? So, I met a friend here, on his recommendation. OK. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Great? Not by coastal standards. But in Montana? Pretty damned good. If this were in a major city on either coast, I’d rate it a 2 star. Maybe 1.5 Here in the middle of Bumf… k Montana? 3 Stars. Maybe 4. Actually a decent Sake list FWIW. I didn’t get sick so there’s that. Cute servers :-) Buona Fortuna!

I love Wasabi Sushi. There are plenty of good reviews on here so I will stick to my recommendations. First of all, make a reservation, especially for the weekends. Your experience will be that much better if you can just walk in and sit down. If you have a small group(4 – 6) I would ask for a booth. Best seats in the house and a little more private and out of the way. For the sushi, do not leave without trying the Ultimate Temptress and a spicy tuna roll(or something with their spicy tuna in it). Everything is good so pick a variety, order some beers and edamame and sushi on!

The sushi here was absolutely fabulous. The service is great and very friendly. They use very fresh ingredients and it’s fun to watch the chefs put your rolls together. Meanwhile try an appetizer called, adamame, blanched and lightly Salted soy beans. My wife and I typically order thee or four different rolls to split. We like to try new things and have never been disappointed. Excellent food, quality and service. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This is the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. The food is so high quality and reasonably priced. Our server was excellent as well. We had the sizzling prawns, the BC Dragon roll, and a few other rolls that I can’t remember the name of. The ingredients are unusually paired but exceptional matches. Best sushi I’ve ever had.

I love sushi rolls but will admit I’m bit a sushi expert but this was horrible. All I tasted and smelled was the chewy smelly seaweed roll. I’ve eaten lots of rolls using the seaweed but they never tasted bad. The inside seemed slight mushy not fresh and crunchy. Must be a locational difference in sushi prep??? Place was cute clean and friendly

Their fish is flown in daily, their chefs and staff are friendly and competent. They also offer some great entrees for those not feeling like sushi. They have a good selection of beer and wine, as well as a good variety of Saki. Let’s be real, its is Montana sushi. If you are from San Fran or Seattle, you may find the selections a little bit limited. If you are from the Rocky Mountain West and are in the mood for a caterpillar roll, head to Wasbi. I’ve never felt the fish I’ve had there was not top-notch, and I’ve never left disappointed.
